NationalInstruments.Tdms

I am using PDM library and have included the following following the example of code

using NationalInstruments.Tdms;

I get the following compilation error

The name of the namespace or type "PDM" does not exist in the namespace ' NationalInstruments

I have it!

See my previous posts for links to aid in the creation of the license file for your project, by adding to your project, how to structure the entry for the PDM Licensor and how to find which version of the NationalInstruments.Tdms.dll you are using.

For the public key token, find sn.exe on your computer.  It's probably somewhere like C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0a\Bin\x64\sn.exe, although I had to delve into the \Microsoft SDKs\Windows directory to find exactly where it was.  (I found mine under v8.0, even if I'm running Windows 7...  Whatever.)  Once you have found it, open a command prompt window and navigate to the directory where you found sn.exe.  Then, run this command:

SN - Tp

Don't forget to put the path in quotes.  This command should spit in return a number of things, one of which is the public key token.

I have some problems in my program that requires debugging, but this seems to have solved the problem "without a permit' for me, at least.  Hope you also helps.

  • TDMS Version

    Hello

    I use the function import PDM with Measurement Studio 8.6. Now, I received a customer a PDM file. But I got an error when I want to load it. After that audit I discovered what was generated with Diadem 11.1. Of course the old version of DIAdem and other plugin could not read files. In Diadem I could not save it to the old format.

    There is no license check when I'm using TDMS. When can I import the new format with Measurement Studio?

    Andreas-

    There are two broad approaches:

    1. Use the MStudio Project Wizard to create a project in VS2005 and copy the .licx file (or relevant content) in your VS2008 project.
    2. Manually create the .licx for PDM file entry
      1. Follow the instructions in the help topic MStudio licenses without integrated tools measure the Studio .NET class libraries (the Studio help OR measure > .NET OR Measurement Studio class library > using libraries .NET class Measurement Studio > .NET class libraries Licensing > Licensing without integrated tools .NET class libraries) to create a .licx for your project file.
      2. This help topic is missing the entry for TDMS .licx (I'll file a bug report to fix this in a future version of MStudio). The information you need is: NationalInstruments.Tdms.TdmsLicenser, NationalInstruments.Tdms, Version =A.B.C.D, Culture = neutral, PublicKeyToken is 4544464cdeaab541
      3. Replace A.B.C.D, above the specific version of the Assembly that you are using.
        1. To determine the specific version of the Assembly that you use, go to the directory DotNET\Assemblies\Current under the MStudio for VS2005 (generally C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2005\DotNET\Assemblies\Current) installation directory.
        2. Examine the properties of the NationalInstruments.Tdms.dll file and find the Version of the file property. It is the version you need.

    Of course, it seems that we should facilitate this. I'll file a bug report to see if we can generate and install a .licx including the correct information. Then we could reference to this help topic .licx file.

  • iMac won't turn. Startup disk is full. TDM won't let me edit.

    iMac won't turn. Startup disk is full. TDM won't let me edit.

    My iMac turns off 10 seconds after the start to the top. I tried repair disk running, to no avail. What is happening is because my boot drive is full, off the 500 GB I partitioned in mac, 493,63 GB is taken up. I bought a thunderbolt cable to access the TOC on my mac book, and I have access to my files now. The problem is that I can only copy files. Authorities say I read and write permissions. When I start my host computer, it says "you can still open or copy the files on the disk, but you cannot save changes to the files on the disc. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can. "I'm trying to copy all my files on this computer and remove what I don't want copies, then reinstall OSX on my iMac. The problem is that some files are native to all OSX, so it would prevent me from copying the files. For example, if I want to copy my applications folder, it stops to copy once it reached the app store, because it cannot copy that. It is a problem because when it comes to the library, there are small files in there that I don't know if I can copy, then it stops at the copy and I end up with half of my files and I don't know what I need and what I have.

    Everything you need to copy the disk, then start the iMac in recovery (command-R) mode. Wipe the drive and reinstall OS X from the recovery console.

  • iMac darkens when in display mode using target (TDM) and the lack of brightness slider!

    Hi all

    I use a MacBook Pro (13 "to end 2011) and iMac (27", by the end of 2012). Both are up to date, running El Capitan 10.11.5. They are connected with a thunderbolt cable in order to use the iMac as a second screen (TDM).

    Now, when I press CMD + F2 to the iMac, iMac gets used as second screen as expected, but it goes really dark! He's not black, you can still see the desktop but on a sunny day, it's really hard to see anything. Now, it's pretty embarrassing, but the second part of the question makes it a pain in the *. When the iMac is dark, I always go to the system preferences and open the settings for the display. I can see a window with the parameters for the iMac, but there is no cursor for the brightness! There is no way to make it brighter!

    The only solution is to disable the target (CMD + F2) just display mode to enable it again after a few seconds. Sometimes I have to activate the TDM twice but sometimes it takes 4 or 5 loops toggle just to see the brightness slider!

    Here is a screenshot of the settings without the cursor window

    And that's what it looks like after a few loops, and then I can adjust the brightness.

    Any ideas why this happens? Any advice on a possible solution? Why - what is darkening the iMac? Why is the cursor missing?

    Best,

    Stephan

    There are other topics on this issue, like the one below. One of the workarounds suggested is to use shades free app: http://www.charcoaldesign.co.uk/shades

  • Namespace 'NationalInstruments' not found

    Hi all

    I create my first application with the driver in the world with Visual Studio 2010 c# MS and I added the NationalInstruments.Common and the NationalInstruments.VisaNS as references. However, when I add the command "using NationalInstruments.VisaNS;" in the header of my main program. the generation process returns the following error:

    error CS0246: the name of the namespace or type 'NationalInstruments' cannot be found (missing are you a using directive or an assembly reference?)

    What I'm missing here?

    Thank you for your support.

    These errors may be generated when you have references to assemblies OR that are constructed for a different version of the .NET Framework that the project uses. Looks like you are using .NET 4.0 assemblies. Probably your project uses the profile of the Client .NET 4.0, which is a light version of the .NET Framework 4.0 and is not compatible with the assemblies OR.

    For c# projects go to project properties > Application and change target .NET Framework 4 framework.

  • Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) Using USRP s 2943 with synchronization

    Hello

    I have two 2943R USRP.  One of them is transmitter another is the receiver. I wonder about the moment on USRPs division multiplexing. How could I implement this system? On the first slot of the Trasmitter USRP channel 0 will send the signal, receive USRP channel 0 will get the signal, on the second time slice Trasmitter USRP 1 channel it will send the signal, receive USRP channel 0 will receive the signal again. This process will goes in the order. So in detail, Ch0 of USRP0 will send the first niche hourly Ch0 of USRP1 will receive, Ch1 of USRP0 will send, Ch0 of USRP1 will receive again after the third slot Ch0 of USRP0 will send the signal. This process will be contiue until I stop VI. Signals will be displayed on the receiving party and release will signal where USRP0 Ch0 and Ch1 USRP0.   Example of synchronization is present on examples of NI Labview 2014 USRP on PPS trig. But I could not find example vi or a document on the TDM with synchronization.  You give me advice? How could I overcome this problem?

  • Read error-getdatatype TDMS

    Brief history on my project.  I have a PXI system configuration to read signals from DSA devices, Series S, and an encoder.  I use matlab to make calls to functions in libraries NI DAQmx and nilibddc.h.  I collect the data and the flow of data on the disk with the ability to view data during the acquisition.  Acquisition occurs for almost a minute plus 37 channels to 100ksamp/sec.  So the. TDMS files are quite large.  I synchronize my systems by some sort of configuration of the hybrid master slave device.  I use auto-sync in all types of similar devices, and to synchronize the different types of devices, I use the sample clock and start to trigger a DSA device to synchronize my other devices.  Since I use the automatic synchronization of the. TDMS files can have anywhere between 1 or 20 channels in a single file.  This makes a very large file and Microsoft Excel import does not cut because of the limitation on the size and the time it takes to load.  So I use the nilibddc.dll to read data from files which seems to be fairly smooth so far. I did not attempt to read a file with a minute of a data value but the worst case I can read the data file chunks at a time so I'm not terribly worried about it.  My problem occurs when I read my file data .tdms containing my encoder data.

    The part where it inhibits is is my function calling for DDC_GetDataType.  Now when I use my code to read data from the analog .tdms file it works well and does what I want it.  The error I get for my counter of the signals is an error unexpectedly (-6204.)  Now what is interesting is when I use labview 2009 on another computer, I can read the files without a problem.  I'm guessing that my labview 2009 uses different libraries however.  For example, when I read the file in labview, I go to the range of functions, choose file/o, PDM in streaming and use either read the .tdms or PDM Viewer function.  When I'm on my main computer, I use a call to the DIAdem connectivity library, that I downloaded from OR. Microsoft excel importer also seems to be hung in the same place (getdatatype).  I found this to inspect the log file, it creates when I try to read it.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have attached the error log I get the .tdms microsoft importer.  I've also attached a sample file .tdms with the position of encoder in it data.  If trying to open outside of labview, don't be fooled if she tells you that there is no data available.  It is, by using labview 2009, you can read all the 500ksamps without problem.  Using PDM viewer or reading tdms atleast.  Thank you.

    Hello-

    I wanted to preface what follows with the fact that I assume that you are using the TDM C DLL downloaded here.  If this is the case, the following should solve things for you - if not, please let me know where you got the ddc library of.

    Unfortunately, the TDMS dll which is downloaded from the link above is a little outdated and contains the bug you reported.  I created an internal action query to update the download with the version the most recent available to us.  In the meantime, I have attached the tdms dll needed to solve the problem for you.  You should not use the attached dll to replace the dll in ".\Dominonilibddc\dev\bin\\tdms_ebd.dll".

    A potential problem here is if you use the merge modules included to redistribute your product.  If you are, we will need to get some updated modules as well merge - please let me know if this is the case for you and what is the level of urgency.

    Please let me know if this does resolve the problem for you.

    Thank you-

  • Card data scope of device to the TDMS file buffer

    How transfer brought data card device buffer to TDMS file directly bye passing buffers LabVIEW and Windows. In the same way as DAQmx configure logging (VI) do we have any function scope?

    The API OR-SCOPE doesn't have the ability to record data acquired directly on the disc like the DAQmx API offers.  All data must be retrieved from the on-board memory, which makes data transfer OR-SCOPE kernel driver via DMA, and a copy must then happen to transfer data from the space of the kernel in user space (LabVIEW), how it can be manipulated.

    The main reason for this flow is because the calibration scale occurs in the NOR-SCOPE driver and not the material.  So if you were to save data directly to the disk as DAQmx, he stock raw ADC codes, without correction calibrated.  The API OR-SCOPE allows to recover the coefficients of scale if you want to apply them at a later date after extraction of the data from the hardware.  To optimize flow of data applications, it is recommended.

    The only exception to the logging directly on the disk would be the Oscilloscope Reconfigurable SMU-5171R.  It is being implemented with LabVIEW FPGA firmware using the design of Instrument libraries, code is open for editing.  With the open nature of this software stack, it is possible to implement "direct to TDMS" functionality with LabVIEW FPGA Read region node.

    I hope this helps!

  • How to filter the traces of tension TDMS after acquisition?

    Simple question. We have acquired a lot of electrophysiological data with express signal. We now need to filter data after the acquisition for later analysis. I can import the files TDMS tension of previous experiences, but can't seem to run the filters we used on the side of the acquisition to filter the existing traces. Is there a simple way to do this?

    -smb

    Hello Chinchilla,

    I enclose a few screenshots on how to add a step to an analog input filtering. You can select the type of filter and order too.

    In this screenshot you can check how to change the configuration of the filter

    Finally, you can access the TDMS of LabVIEW file with one of the examples of PDM. Please follow these instructions:

    1. open LabVIEW

    2 - go to help > find examples to open the Finder 'example '.

    3 - Go to Fundamentals > file Input and Output > TDMS > Standard Read and Write and select the VI named TDMS read Events.vi

    You will need to know the data present in the file to read correctly. For this, you can use the leading PDM Viewer VI:

    http://zone.NI.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361K-01/Glang/tdms_file_viewer/

    Or you can use the Toolbox for excel: http://www.ni.com/example/27944/en/ (allows you to transfer the data to Microsoft Excel).

    4. After reviewing the data, you will need to apply a filter. You can find the filter functions in the range of Signal Processing.

    Please let me know if you have any questions on this subject.

    Kind regards

  • TDMS wf_start_time with milliseconds

    How can I include information millisecond of time of waveform information in my TDMS file?

    Resemble my timestamps: 17/10/2016 08:59:34.000 AM

    Hi sez!

    The DAQmx property do not support to set the properties in the PDM log file.

    The only thing you can do is create a file and write the start time property in this file. The DAQmx driver opens this file again and log data in the file.

    Basically, you can do it, but I prefer the solution of low level with the TDMS screws indicated in the post before.

    Best regards

  • Missing NationalInstruments.VisaNS.dll

    Hello

    I would like to know why NationalInstruments.VisaNS.dll is missing from the following folder:

    C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2010\DotNET\Assemblies\Current

    I do not have the file in the following folder:

    C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2008\DotNET\Assemblies\Current\

    If I add the file in my projects of VS2010, they do not compile.

    Help, please.

    Concerning

    AJ.

    AJ,

    This sounds like the support of VISA .NET is not installed on your machine for Visual Studio 2010.  Given that VS2010 is new software, there probably a compatibility problem between the files in the folder of VS2008 and VS2010, which translates the project does not compile.

    You will need to update your driver VISA to 5.0.3, which is the first version I've found that supports VS2010 (see supported development environments in the Readme).  In addition, just to check, you must measure Studio 2010 to work with VS2010.  Be sure to enable support for .NET install in the dialog box "Features to install" driver.

    Once you install this driver, the assembly must be in place and should compile your projects.

    Hope this helps,

  • Unable to get copy of targeting DAQmx.dll 4.5 / / the type 'NationalInstruments.ISynchronizeCallbacks' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced.

    I inherited a software project that uses the NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll library. I currently have the 13.0.40 32-bit version of the library. I rewrite the 64 bit .NET 4.5 and have found problems when you use the 13.0.40 version. Namely the two errors below

    Error 1 type 'NationalInstruments.ISupportSynchronizationContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly ' NationalInstruments.Common, Version = 13.0.40.190...
    Error 2 type 'NationalInstruments.ISynchronizeCallbacks' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly ' NationalInstruments.Common, Version = 13.0.40.190...

    Research mistakes online, I think that the problem is that my current DAQmx.dll is the .NET 4.0 framework and my new project target .NET 4.5.

    I went on the Web site of NOR and downloaded the NI DAQmx 15.1 "Downloader" (found here http://www.ni.com/download/ni-daqmx-15.1/5617/en/). This executable, once executed, then downloads ~1.7GB compressed files, once unpacked there are a large number of software and current documentation. After speaking with an engineer application OR on the phone he asked me to launch the NI DAQmx setup in the top level of the unpacked files folder. He then installed what I would call the Suite OR software... (Front flip, after I did an uninstall, the uninstall program me notified that I'm removing 224 pieces of software.) So why I call it the Suite OR).

    After installation, I was tasked to search for a similar folder installation directory to MStudio / / DAQmx / / DotNET / / assemblies / / current for the new version of the DAQmx.dll but only found dll starting with NationalInstruments.Common and anything ending with DAQmx. I also did a search on the full installation for the dll directory and found no NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll. I decided to try the . Common.dll suggests that the naming convention may had changed, nothing helps.

    (Just some extra info) Finally, I went to the machine that has the old version of the Suite OR on it (I develop on a separate computer from the one using my instrument NOR) and looked under the same folder I mentioned above. Under this folder I locate a NationalInstrument.DAQmx.dll if this is the one I currently use. I also find a 64-bit version of the 13.0.40 dll, which is nice, but still has the same problems as the 32-bit version.

    So I guess my questions are now

    • Do I have reason to think that I need a newer dll? The one with the XX naming convention. XX.45 (15.1.45, I hope)?

    • If so, a DAQmx.dll who target 4.5 is of NEITHER?

    • If it does not exist, where can I find it? ...

    Well, I think I have mislead you again NYC. It seems that my problem has not been resolved. I tried all the libraries for each version, Measurement Studio from 2010 to 2013.

    The folder structure I have is as follows.

    \MeasurementStudioVS2010\\DotNET\\Assemblies\\Current\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll
    \MeasurementStudioVS2010\\DotNET\\Assemblies\\15.1.40.61\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll

    \MeasurementStudioVS2010\\DotNET\\Assemblies (64-bit)\\Current\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll

    \MeasurementStudioVS2010\\DotNET\\Assemblies (64-bit)\\15.1.40.61\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll

    \MeasurementStudioVS2012\\DotNET\\Assemblies\\Current\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll

    \MeasurementStudioVS2012\\DotNET\\Assemblies\\15.1.45.61\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll

    \MeasurementStudioVS2012\\DotNET\\Assemblies (64-bit)\\Current\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll

    \MeasurementStudioVS2012\\DotNET\\Assemblies (64-bit)-15.1.45.61\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll

    \MeasurementStudioVS2013\\DotNET\\Assemblies\\15.1.45.61\\NationalInstruments.DAQmx.ComponentModel.dll

    Obvious all directories not marked 64 bits fail because they are not 64-bit. Directories marked 15.1.40.61 do not work gives me the original error. because they target DotNET 4.0. Under the VS2013 directories are not NationalInstruments.DAQmx.ComponentModel.dll only NationalInstruments.DAQmx.dll. Directories marked with 15.1.45.61 highlighted give the same error, namely

    Error 1 the type 'NationalInstruments.ISupportSynchronizationContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly ' NationalInstruments.Common, Version =15.0.40. 49154...

    Which I guess means that the name of the 15.1.45 directory does not coincide with the 15.0.40dll version. Am I misunderstanding this error, or am I wrong that the dll under 15.1.45 are not what they are labeled as?

    For reference, here are two snippits of code I'm trying to do work.

    using (NationalInstruments.DAQmx.Task analogWriteTask = NationalInstruments.DAQmx.Task (()) new / / errors arise here using task
    {
    String [] channels = DaqSystem.Local.GetPhysicalChannels (PhysicalChannelTypes.AO, PhysicalChannelAccess.External);
    analogWriteTask.AOChannels.CreateVoltageChannel (channels [1], "aoChannel", MIN_VOLTAGE_OUT_THEORETICAL, MAX_VOLTAGE_OUT, AOVoltageUnits.Volts);
    AnalogSingleChannelWriter writer = new AnalogSingleChannelWriter (analogWriteTask.Stream);
    writer. WriteSingleSample (commandValue, true);
    }

    using (NationalInstruments.DAQmx.Task digitalWriteTask = NationalInstruments.DAQmx.Task (()) new / / errors arise here using task
    {
    String [] channels = DaqSystem.Local.GetPhysicalChannels (PhysicalChannelTypes.DOPort, PhysicalChannelAccess.External);
    digitalWriteTask.DOChannels.CreateChannel (channels [1], "port1", ChannelLineGrouping.OneChannelForAllLines);
    DigitalSingleChannelWriter writer = new DigitalSingleChannelWriter (digitalWriteTask.Stream);
    writer. WriteSingleSampleMultiLine (commandValue, true);
    }

    EDIT: So the real problem is that I have not included NationalInstruments.DAQmx.Common.dll in my project.

    Is it possible to open only read files in VS or modify access VS before opening?

    The previous reviews were correct, using an old dll package does not work. For anyone who seeks the solution or how to configure tdms c dll in visual (VS 2015 here, Win32) studios:

    (1) take the new dll c since the above comment.

    (2) make a new empty win32 application project.

    (2) move the contents of \c_dll_tdm\TDM C DLL\dev\bin\32-bit in the working directory

    (3) move the \c_dll_tdm\TDM C DLL\dev\include file in the working directory

    (4) move the \c_dll_tdm\TDM C DLL\dev\lib file in the working directory

    (5) content move/copy the code \c_dll_tdm\TDM C DLL\samples\readFile.c in your working directory/source file. (The variable length must be replaced by an unsigned int so that it works with c ++).

    (5) follow these instuctions here to include your working directory (step 7 +). Add the working directory to your source file properties, but the addition of the library to the project properties

    Has it done for me I can successfully open the TDMS files. Thank you for the help and a link to the new DLL! I hope this can help some people who are also new to VS.

  • TDM file more than TDX

    I run a batch script that downloads data, analyzes and stores them for later use, but the size of the TOC file is approximately 2.5 MB, when the size of files TDX is only 0.5 MB.  It seems strange that my meta data is ~ 5 x the size of my real data.

    Any idea of what could happen here and suggestions to fix it?

    There is an available compression method that only works for the TOC header.

    Option Explicit

    Dim targetfile: targetfile = "C:\temp\target.tdm."
    Call DataFileSave ("" & replace (targetfile, "&", "&") & "zip", "CT" ")

    which is available only by using script.

    Be aware that this will end with a header of tdm aompressed and a file binary tdx.

    But it might help in your place if you really need the smaller headers.

    Old version of tiara not will also be able to read these files.

    You will also pay an additional load with a little time. Check yourself.
