NB100 - how to upgrade the BIOS using Linux

I have searched all afternoon to update the bios on my linux and could not find one thing that works.

Someone did he do with the more technical?
Any help or walk through would be great

I managed to get the BIOS update work. Simply retrieve the machine and install the BIOS update, as a kind of kernelmodule is modified by the update of the system which is responsible for enforcing BIOSupdate.

After recovering (without applying a system update) just immediately update the BIOS.

Welcome them
Dennis

It forces me to use Windows. My Windows is broken and I can't fix it, because Windows repairs destroy data (clearly indicated on the packaging of recovery CD) and installations of Linux. My Linux works very well, and I don't want the windows more.

So how can I upgrade the BIOS? Either:
    1. use a true independent bundle of BONES (ie the promised approach of bootable CD). I can't find such a thing here.
2 reinstall Windows, which trashes the laptop.

    Any suggestions?

Is not possible since the BIOS on Toshiba page is a victory-based BIOS version and if you want to update the BIOS then you need to install the Windows operating system and then you can run the exe file

  • Satellite 2800-600 - how to upgrade the Bios/Firmware?

How can I upgrade the Bios and firmware on my 2800-600? I want to install a new Combodrive. Which drives are supported? Where can I find the drivers and firmware etc... Please let me know. Thank you.

Another point of view - I bought MS Windows XP Pro and haven´t you have a PC to install it on. Can I install this OS on my Satellite? Will it work? Where can I find the drivers for touchpoint etc etc... Normally, the Toshiba works with Windows ME and I can not use ITunes on ME... if XP would be great - what do you think?

    Hello Jürgen

In my opinion, if you install the operating system on the unit you you use the recovery CD provided because it has been tested and it works without any problem. But if you want to install another system on your laptop, you can use the original Microsoft OS and all the necessary drivers, you can find the Toshiba site.

  • Satellite A100-386 - how to upgrade the BIOS?

    Hello

I wanted just to update my old Satellite A100-386 with 4 GB of RAM (2x2gb Crucial) instead of 1 GB, as I am now running Windows7 Pro 64 bit instead of the original XP 32.

I read that I had to upgrade the BIOS as mine is v2.00. So, I downloaded the last of them.
It seems to be an automatic upgrade of BIOS (S10V600.exe) as mentioned on the site Web of Toshiba.
But when hit the .exe, I have a box of error message saying:
"LOADPEDRV. "EXE: could not start the service.

My question is: do I have to be 32-bit OS to run the upgrade of the automatic BIOS or is it possible to Flash the BIOS with a Windows7 64 bit OS run?

Thanks a lot for all answer as I found no 'how to' in search on this forum.

    Best regards
    François

    Hi FPSim,

Who said that you need to update the BIOS to upgrade RAM? The maximum RAM capacity depends on the motherboard and chipset and not BIOS.

Official website of Toshiba, I have seen that the model supports 4 GB of RAM so the BIOS update is not necessary. Increase the RAM and everything is ok.

  • Satellite M100-165 with XP: how to upgrade the BIOS to use the Vista operating system?

    Hello

I use my laptop with Windows XP and BIOS version 2.80.

I want to install Windows Vista, but when I download the BIOS of compatible v5.40 Vista it says

"This Bios is only compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista!

Do NOT install this Bios if you have Windows XP as operating system running! »

When you download the version 2.80 compatible XP, I got the same message saying that it was not compatible with Vista.

Now, should I first install Vista with XP compatible BIOS 2.80 and then install the compatible BIOS 5.40 5.40 or Vista install XP first (no traditional update available, only Windows updates are present) and then install Vista?

I'm afraid of a bad flash by installing the BIOS compatible Vista in XP.

    Hello

the best solution would be to do the following:

    1. backup your data and download the drivers for Vista.
    2. make sure that all stored/saved/etc.
    3. install the bios
4 restart the machine and install Vista
    5. After installing Vista, install drivers and be happy :)

    See you soon

I am using the version of the BIOS is P007Bv170_EC73V140.

Is there a way to upgrade in silent mode in the BIOS?
    Thank you for your help,

    Hey,.

You need to run the exe file you will find in archive zip you downloaded. After this update the BIOS will start.

But before this update, unzip all files and close all running programs. Also, make sure that you are logged on as administrator.

  • How to upgrade the existing using the new version of Muse Web site

I've recently updated to the last version of Muse (2015.0) and may not know how to upgrade my existing Web site. Used to, I would just click on publish and it would update in real time on my site. Now, I don't see how. Someone out there who can help me with this? Thank you

    Hi HeikeDN001,

With the recent release of Muse CC there was a little problem with publication to business Catalyst Control Panel. It has been resolved locally and will be available in the next version of muse. For now, you can try a workaround to deal with the problem. You must use this workaround only once and then Muse will begin to function properly.

    • Create an empty site of Muse.
    • Publish it to BC with any name at random.
    • Once the new published file close and open your original file.
    • Now, try to publish your original file and you will be able to see all the options you could see as soon as possible.

Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

    Kind regards

  • How to upgrade the BIOS without a floppy drive?

    Hello

I'm trying to update my BIOS using my CD player. I have an IBM Thinkpad 600E

The latest version on the Lenovo site is an exe which requires a floppy disk. Given that I don't have a floppy drive, no idea how to get this created on a CD as a bootable image? Or is it a different download for the same thing?

    Thank you

I'm not sure it's possible, an easy solution would be to get your hands on a diskette. Here's a bargain on the market at TPF.

  • Satellite P300-1EI (PSPCCE) - how to upgrade the BIOS?

    Hello everyone,

I want to update my BIOS and I am running Windows 7 32 bit. On the Toshiba site, I found this update: of the bios-20090226125740.
    It's the good update?

How could I do to update Windows (I have no floppy).

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi banditito,

The first important question is: BIOS update is really necessary?
I mean if you notice any problems with your laptop I n t see a reason to update. This update is a bit risky if never touch a system! ;)

In addition, the update is designed for Windows and you don't need a floppy drive!
Extract all files from the archive zip and start the update. But before this, close all programs running (also, AntiVirus and firewall), disconnect from the Internet and then start the update.

  • Re: Satellite A300 (PSAGCA-09W01N) - how to upgrade the BIOS?

I have a problem and the only solution that I have to try is updating the BIOS. Could someone please tell me how?

    Cheers, Levi

    Hey mate,

Are you really sure that the update of the BIOS may solve your problem? I mean the BIOS update is always somewhat risky and in the worst case you could destroy the ROM module So the BIOS shouldn't t update just for fun. ;)

I hope you find your answer here:

The good BIOS for your laptop, you can get on the Australian page:

  • Satellite A210-19Z (PSAFGE-05P00KGR) - how to upgrade the BIOS?

    Hey guys,.

I'm happy with my Satellite A210-19Z (PSAFGE-05P00KGR), but I had some problems with the Energiesaving Mode on Windows Vista and Windows 7.
I read on the internet that a BIOS update would be useful on the download site there is only 1 update of the BIOS and that includes WinPhlash but WinPhlash does not work on Vista or Windows 7.

Because there is no other update tools on the host and my machine was delivered with the Vista operating system. Because of this, I created a bootable usb key with phlash16.exe and the 'm10a190.rom' I've renamed "bios.wph" on this subject.
When I start BACK and enter ' phlash16/x', my laptop starts the Application and I see a progressbar crossing. After perhaps a second I see the main menu of Phlash16 but it freezes until I am able to do something (the keyboard doesn't respond when I press a button).

Do you know what I did wrong, or is it not possible to update my BIOS?

Thanks for your help and I look forward to receive your reply soon.
    Chris

    Hey Chris,

I also checked the Web from Toshiba site for BIOS update on a series of Satellite A210 PSAFGE and it shows an update to BIOS version 1.90. This update is based on Windows and it will appear on all versions of Windows (XP, Vista 32 bit and Vista 64-bit). So perhaps you can explain what you mean with it doesn't work under Vista. You get an error message?

I understand that the update doesn't work on Windows 7 because at the moment are no drivers available for this system in that time so the update should only be done on XP or Vista. I put t understand why try to Flash the BIOS in DOS mode. It's really risky and you can destroy the ROM module in the worst cases.

I did also update the BIOS on my laptop, I did:
-Update the BIOS on a Toshiba preinstalled OS
-J' was logged in as an administrator
-J' closed all the running background processes and programs, also the antivirus, firewall and internet connection
-J' extracted all the files to zip archive and start the update has been done successfully.

    I hope I could help you! :)
