NC 4400 maximum disk size

Hi, I was wondering if there is a limit to the size of the hard drive can I install in my nc 4400

Thank you simon

Hi, Simon:

Since the nc4400 comes with a SATA Smart disc, I think you'd be safe with any size reaching up to 640 GB. Maybe even more.

I don't know if you get a SATA II drive, if the system will operate at 3.0 Gbps transfer speed well. I don't think so. The specifications list only supported 5 400 rpm disks. A disc of 7 200 rpm would be better, but you will have to take a chance on it. It should work, but I can't say with certainty that it will work.

    Hi guys

I tried all day to get the value of the maximum disk size allocated to a virtual machine. Near there, it is actually the amount of free space on the data store over the current size of the hard drive.

With this script, you can calculate the value

    foreach($dev in (Get-VM  | Get-View).Config.Hardware.Device){
      if($dev.DeviceInfo.Label -like "Hard Disk*"){
        $dsFree = (Get-Datastore (Get-View -Id $dev.Backing.Datastore).Info.Name).FreeSpaceMB
         $diskSize = ($dev.CapacityInKB / 1Kb)
         $MaxSize = $dsFree + $diskSize
         Write-Host "Maximum size for" $dev.DeviceInfo.Label "=" ("{0:f2}" -f (($dsFree + $disksize)/ 1Kb)) "Gb"
      }
    }

    Hello

    That said 500 GB:

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&TaskID=120&prodSeriesId=3824206&prodTypeId=12454&ObjectID=c01659236

However, a 750 GB hard drive might work too. I can't say with certainty that your pc is a desktop computer and this section is for laptops, but the recovery disk/s may not work on a drive that is much larger than the original one in any case.

  • Maximum disk size for a LUN

    Hello

I have a 400 GB LUN I mounted in VI Client as data store (size 399, 2 GB). I want to dedicate that VMFS of D drive on a virtual machine, what size I can do? If I give him all the space, I guess that's not good because there will be more space for metadata.

I usually leave between 10 and 15% of the uncommitted data store. If you plan to use snapshots, you want more free space.

  • Maximum virtual HARD disk size

IM wondering what the maximum size that I can create a second VHD on a virtual machine. No matter what size I make the size of the block of the data store, it will allow is 256 GB and I have a 1 TB LUN

It is the size of the block of the data store with the Basic virtual machine folder that is important. The reason is that snapshots of virtual disks are created in this folder by default. So any virtual disk attached to a virtual machine should not exceed the maximum. the size allowed by the block size of the store database.

Difference between material FAT & FAT32?

I have a disk full of files, and it is in the FAT32 file system. As I can't copy large files (5 GB +) in this player, I intend to fix this by changing the file systems. Apparently, it is not possible to do it without formatting. I am curious about a way to do this without destroying the drive.

    Thanks in advance.

Difference between material FAT & FAT32?

First, note that there are three varieties of FAT: FAT12, FAT16, and
FAT32. Many people call just FAT16 FAT, because before that FAT32 is out.
FAT16 is the only variety used for hard drives, so just
    The FAT was not enough.

FAT12 (hardly any more used) had a maximum volume size of 12 MB.
It has been used almost exclusively for floppy disks.

FAT16 was used on hard disks (or partitions) up to 4 GB and had a
cluster size which varied from 2 KB to 64 KB, depending on the size of
the partition. It serves almost never again, because almost nobody does
a as small as 4 GB partitions.

FAT32 FAT16 succeeded and has a maximum drive size of 2 TB. His
maximum file size is 4 GB, which explains why you can't copy a file of 5 GB to
it. its cluster size is 4 KB up to an 8 GB partition. Beyond 8 GB the
cluster size develops up to 32 KB.
NTFS, that's what almost everyone should use on their hard drives
today. Its maximum volume size is 2 ^ ^ 64-1 and its maximum file size
16 × 1024 is ^ ^ 6 bytes (much more than the bigger hard drive available
today). Cluster size is 4 KB, regardless of the size of the volume.

I have a disk full of files, and it is in the FAT32 file system. As I can't copy large files (5 GB +) in this player, I intend to fix this by changing the file systems.

    Good! You should.

Apparently, it is not possible to do it without formatting.

It's not correct. To convert to NTFS, use you the CONVERT
command. But first read http://www.aumha.org/a/ntfscvt.htm , because
There is an important question about the size of cluster that is not obvious.

Also note that conversion is an important step, touching everything on your
drive. When you take a big step, no matter how unlikely it is
always possible that something can go wrong. For this reason, there
careful to make sure that you have a backup of everything you can not afford to
    lose before you start.

  • Maximum file size

    Hello

I just installed ESXI4 and created my first VM without problem.  I have a problem when I came to create a virtual machine to use as a file storage system.  I want to create a virtual computer on a 500 GB drive and so that he can use all the space, but I get an error.

«File is larger than the maximum size supported by the data store "datastore2".» 1.vmdk 1/new VM new virtual machine.

When I checked the storage tab config section it indicates the maximum size of the files on this data store is 256 GB.  Does that mean so I can only create machines of 256 GB and so I can't store a large number of files on them?

    Thank you

    Hello

The largest in a data store vmdk file is determined by the size of the block selected when you formatted the disk of the data store. Increasing this changes the maximum file size. If there is a problem, you can create several files vmdk for your virtual machine.

I recently ordered a Touchsmart from HP Envy 15-j005sa that has a 1 TB HARD drive. I'm looking to clone the orignial in an mSATA SSD drive so I was wondering what size is recommended.  How much space is used when it is new so using this information can buy a large enough disk size?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

There is that little clone options b clone the HARD disk which means that you have the mSATA SSD equal or more 1 TB (b) clone c ONLY: This means you the mSATA SSD equal or superior to c:... My suggestion: shrink C: for small size say even 60 GB or 120 GB (if you don't have a lot of programs installed) FRONT of clone and ONLY clone C: normally larger (capacity) is better because you can install more programs that him.

I would like to know the maximum size of SSD can I move my internal hard drive. Documentation, I understand that the maximum allowed size is 160 GB. Is this correct?

No it's just that HP offered when it was new. A 500 GB or 1 TB SSD would not be a problem. All 2.5 inches wide and 9.5 or 7 mm thick hard SATA or SSD will work.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones how can I increase the maximum file size allowed on the media?

Whenever I have record video using the video camera, after a very short time it will stop recording and gives a message 'maximum size of the file reaches. I've adjusted the settings to save in 'Normal' mode, but while recording appears in last a short time, the result file size is way too big to be able to easily send to contacts. When you use the MMS mode the recording time is much too short. Is it possible to increase the maximum allowed size of the file so that a resulting video would be about 3-4 MB or less?

You can download any software video conversion on the net. just try this one "Freestudio".

  • disk size problm after copying a large file to the VM then disconnected

    Dear Sir

I have a VM with allowances dynamic storage virtual hard drive of 300 GB,.

HE on that disk space is 50 GB.

Ive copied on it a 100 GB file so now space space disc is 150 GB and 150 GB is free.

Ive deleted the file 100 GB of the virtual machine, but am supersized now that the file of the virtual machine is still 150 GB in size.

What should do? as it fits the 50 GB after deleting the file from the virtual machine.

    Hello

    Yes it is planned.

You have copied a huge file in the virtual computer-> who is the virtual disk in order to accommodate the new file->

You remove the huge file-> your take off just to comments operating system, the file in the list of the directory->

Your data is still there, it does not erase the data and rewrite from scratch.

In order to recover the disk space, you need a number of things:

-first of all your guests, OS file system must be supported (Windows FAT/NTFS is)

    -Your guest must be stopped

-The type of the guest operating system disk should not be preallocated.

-Your host operating system might need a lot of free space on the drive according to your VM disk configuration.

If stored in several files, you must have a few GB free (size of the Ramdisk / 32) Go, but say more than 4 GB, keep 10 GB free to be on the safe side.

If your virtual machine is stored in a single file, so you must have your used VM disk size + a few GB of free... for example. If your virtual disk is currently using 200 GB you need tell 204 GB free before starting the operation of a compact disc.

Then in the configuration of VMware go into settings of virtual machines:

    Use the 'Compact disc' button.

Be very very patient and wait, because you want to get 100GB which will take some time.
