Necessary activation after security essentials detected a threat.
I recently acquired a PC running XP Media center. I validated genuine XP and downloaded microsoft Essentials. A few days later essentials security said it had detected a threat, and now I need to activate windows. I don't have the key to product so what can I do? Thank you, Steve.
Here are some utilities, which will display your product keys:

Norton/Security Essentials detects the Virus Help!
Hello
Recently I got a virus that seems to create a temporary file inside the application data area. When Norton detects the file it deletes. I then restart my pc and discover in the process that it has a different file name, IE: (61e.exe) I do not know if the virus changes its file name and tries to trick the protector. I also tried to use Malwarebytes. It detects the virus, but does not delete to restart the computer.
Anyway, I can't seem to find the root of this virus and I was wondering if someone could help.
Best regards
Scott
It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus at a time program. In more than one program antivirus active in memory uses additional resources and may result in program conflicts and false virus alerts. Your best defense against computer viruses and malware is to keep your up-to-date virus definitions and run AV Auto-Protect. If you choose to install more than one anti-virus on your computer program, only one of them should be active in memory at a time. (The AV module, which is active in memory is called Auto-Protect. Other antivirus programs will have different names for this function.)

Necessary activation after the failure of the graphics card
Hello.
My graphics card died an hour ago and I am currently using the integrated graphics chip. Windows 7 indicates now that activation is required which seems quite odd. My problem is that I can't get a new card until I return to my office in 5 days.
So my question is. I have to go through this again when I get the new card. IE I have to do it twice?
See you soon
Update. Office 2013 now tells me that I need to reactivate it. If I put the dead card back at will, it stops the request?
Hello
I am happy that the problem has been resolved itself.
Please post back if you have other Windows problems and we will be happy to help you further.

Microsoft is aware of a rogue security alert that mimics alert Microsoft Security Essentials?
See this site for more details.
http://Clubhouse.Microsoft.com/public/post/001648ea-976f-4cfa-A528-0e4ffe23a8ec
I was wondering if Microsoft knows about this threat.
If Microsoft knows about this alert, how they classify this threat? What they call it?
I know that no anti-virus software will detect all at the same time, I only meant that Microsoft should be aware of this, because the creators of thugs try to imitate Microsoft Security Essentials alert them and attract users in the purchase of products not authorized.
I know how to check whether or not the alert is Microsoft Security Essentials.
When the time protection real Microsoft Security Essentials detects something, it always appears from the tray icon, it shows not directly from the alert, whereas the fake one appears directly on the center of the screen of the computer.
Anyway, the whole point is that I don't want too many antispyware software on my computer, I prefer to use portable applications for the detection and removal, such as rescue of vipre, portable superantispyware, doctor web cureit, norman malware cleaner. I don't want to have separate antispyware software more, that drives me crazy, if I have these installed I will need to be updated regularly, they don't have no automatic updates unless if I buy the full version.
I know that it will be easier to tell if the alert is false or not, once Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 is installed on the computer, because Microsoft has removed the "Clean computer" button in alert details, it does appear on the alert since the icon of the status bar, while the false, they imitate the alert from MSE version 1.
Maybe the alert doesn't really matter, the thing that matters is the threat to which the alert draws in
Well, it seems that now, Microsoft has finally got the hang of this threat, the threat is now classified as Rogue: win32.fakepav
Hope that Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 coming out soon, so the user can make the distinction between the legitimate and the fake more easily alert.

PC automatically shutsdown after every 30 min. I have the last MS Security Essentials installed and running and also the MS Malicious software installed, but none are able to detect any virus or harmful software. Please help in this regard.
You get a bsod?
Please check the event log to see if there are errors, helping to explain what is happening. Also check the c:\windows\minidump folder. Are there files .dmp created here with the dates that it closed? If so please download them on your skydrive so watch us closer.

Activation XP, updates, IE8 and Security Essentials after April 2014
Through my church, I recycle computers that have been brought in. They all have XP and most hard drives are removed. I have a generic restore XP Professional SP3 disk and am able to activate XP with key code on the side of the computer through a websight Ms. I install the XP updates usually ~ 150 + IE8 and Security Essentials. After April 2014 I will be able to continue to help people?
Can you send me the answer, because I am new to this Forum
Thank you

all updates will always be available, that 2014, means is that xp is more taken in charge, or in other words, no new security updates only is published, which makes xp unsecured over the internet.
still usable, just not guarantee :)

My brother-in-law gave me his laptop Dell Latitude D610 to work on. It was loaded with virus and almost completely non-functional. I installed an old windows XP Home Edition SP1 upgrade disk (I had to insert my plu too Windows 98 disc) on it because I had no original disks supplied with the computer. I am therefore perfectly legal with that. I installed it and I activated it until I went through updates. When I finished updates of service pack to download SP2 to the execution of the method to update to SP3. I tried to install Microsoft Security Essentials however it would not load and said I had to VALIDATE windows. I already got it activated prior to all other updates. How can I fix it? When I try to validate windows all I see is a white screen, so I can't go any further! So basically I have 2 problems I need to validate (the computer says that Windows is already activated when I click on the button "Activate Windows"). And I get the white screen when I try to validate... Please help I know it's legal software, just old.

original title: the customer service is horrible
After I downloaded beta Security Essentials, my computer say suddenly that he was not a genuine copy of Windows running and locked up.
I called last night and got a foreign person has attempted to resolve the issues and could not, so he told me that I had to call back after 06:00 to speak to someone in the United States. So I called back today at 06:00 and got one of those who are running around things voice control that didn't fix my problem at all. After much effort, I got a live person. Again, it was a foreign person (why make me wait all night and get up early to call?!?!)This woman told me to restart. I told her that I had rebooted about 10 times since the day before and each time he took forever to load back up the box that tells me that I need to activate windows. She has reiterated, "I ask you to restart." I knew he wouldn't do ANYTHING, but I did and after the session it forever (as I told him it would be) she told me that I had to remind once I got up the box again. I called after that I got the box AND HAD TO START OVER again ONCE with someone new. Of course, she was trying to pass me to someone else.Of course, after all this trouble, no MS sells a product key for Vista, it is abandoned. So I need to go buy Windows 7 and she told me that I'll LOSE EVERYTHING when I install it - all my documents and family photos are gone forever. Why not take my money and sell me a product key instead of let me in trouble? The worst ever undertaken. Of course, MS doesn't care because they have a monopoly. You should not need to buy anything except the recovery disc for your machine (if the built-in recovery partition does not work), unless you really need Win 7 for some reason any.
That being said - the COA sticker on your machine is readable? If Yes, then you should have no problem with a Windows 7 upgrade version - but you will need to either use activation by phone, or installation methods described here...

After scanning essentials security said my computer has not been scanned and it is not protected
After that says security essentials scan my computer has not been digitized and is not protected. It is on a weekly auto scan and does not work. Why
Hi Pat,
Thanks for choosing Windows 8 and welcome to the Community Forums of Microsoft.
According to the description provided, automatic scanning of Microsoft Security Essentials not happens on your computer.
1. What is the operating system on your computer?
2. you use security software?
3. did you of recent changes to the computer?A possible reason for this problem is that you have installed entirely or partially on the PC security software conflict. Remove all other computer security software.
Method 1:
Uninstall program anti-virus and check if it helps. How to uninstall antivirus or antispyware programs?
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/how-do-i-uninstall-antivirus-or-antispyware-programs
Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.
In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 2:
1. to run, the PC must be on and connected to the internet (it cannot be stopped, "standby mode", hybrid sleep or Hibernate mode)
2. saving settings must be such that the PC not to close or to go asleep during analysis.
3 analyses do not begin precisely when demand - some may start earlier or later than the officially set time hour (according to Microsoft servers and charges at the time). You can also refer to the article mentioned below for more information.

Antivirus programs have been removed from my computer; That is to say. Norton Antivirus, Symantec Antivirus. Firewall doesn't seem to have this effect on the operation of Security Essentials.
