Need a (free) compatible with Windows 7 driver for Lexmark Z13

    Hi nikua,

According to the Windows 7 Compatibility Center https://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=Lexmark%20Z13%20Inkjet%20Printer&v=Lexmark&uid=16000&pf=3&pi=0&c=Printers%20%26%20Scanners&sc=Ink-Jet%20Printers&os=32-bit the Lexmark Z13 is 'compatible' with Windows 7 therefore the default drivers should be sufficient.

Of course this model is no longer available for Lexmark won't provide drivers for Windows 7. If you can't get your printer to work then maybe it's time to think about buying a new. • A Dell Inspiron 531 computer will be compatible with Windows 7? Conflicting information between sources.

I looked on these contradictory information, and here's what I found... I'm still not sure about that.
I found information about this Dell Inspiron 531 computergoing to be compatible with Windows 7 on the site of Microsoft and in the control panel of that computer system information.

But then I found more information on the Dell website that indicates otherwise.

Please follow me closely here, it took some time to compile this info.

Allows first eliminate what would be the simplest solution I already tried, that would be the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor" located at this address: http://Windows.Microsoft.com/UpgradeAdvisor

On this Web page, there is a small program to download and install that is supposed to tell me if this computer is compatible with Windows 7 in processor speed, RAM, graphics card, etc. and devices, automatically... Unfortunately, it does not work... I installed it and it stopped with the message: "Windows 7 advisor stopped working" so that program and this option is unnecessary.

It is the "Windows 7 system requirements" list of information... it shows that I need at least a 1 GHZ processor or faster, 32-bit... This Inspiron 531 has a 2 GHZ processor and is 32-bit. This page is says I need 1 GB of RAM... it has 1 GB of RAM. It says I need 16 GB of available disk space, it has a C 138 GB primary hard drive which will be deleted when Windows 7 is ready to be installed. And he said that I need a"Graphics card DirectX 9 (with WDDM1.0 or higher driver)" ... the last part in parentheses is the only part that I'm not sure, but my system via the control panel information shows most of this information as being adequate.

Go to this URL: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd531/en/OM/appendix.htm#wp1149549 to see the Dell Inspiron 531 annex page online and click on the link above titled, 'Specifications' or just scroll to see... there in the category 4th down titled 'Video', it shows the "video integrated Nvidia (DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.9 Graphics Processing Unit) '. This seems to correspond to the above listed"DirectX 9" info page "Windows 7 system requirements".

But then there are 2 pages Web of Dell, which indicate that this Dell Inspiron 531 is only supported by Windows Vista and Windows XP... see this URL for this Web page... http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/osmatrix/index?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs& ~ ck = mn

It shows, once you scroll down just a bit, a list of the current Dell computers that can support Windows 7... the Inspiron 531 is not on this list.
This list excludes the Inspiron 531, but it then says' does not have a computer on these lists? Click here to shop for a new Dell! » .. .bad grammar side, this line that I'm pointing out may just be trying to sell me a new Dell computer, if I actually need or not Dell
    !

And finally my info the computer from the control panel shows aprocessor 2 GHZ, 1 GB of RAM or 958 MB anyway and the 32 bit OS.

And Yes, I ran the built-in diagnostic test Dell PSA on this computer and when it tests the sound card and the speakers, he plays the song a bit in each channel and then on both channels, so I know that the material is good on this computer.
I know it's a lot to go through... it took me a while to compile this info, and I sent a version of this letter with screenshots and other MS Tech in India who I worked with for a month on the phone and email to correct a problem of 'no sound' that simply cannot be beat.
But I'm trying to make sure before I do a clean install of Windows 7, when the disc arrives here, I don't clean it hard drive alone to experience Windows 7 does not work on this machine.
Actually, I'm a Mac user and I don't have much trouble in those... Just trying to fix the computer of my mother for it, and now it seems that trying to install Windows 7 is the only way to get the sound back so that my mom can enjoy some music again.
I never thought that I would like to know as well on the PC troubleshooting I've learned in the last month, but I don't like, and there is still no sound on this computer and everything has been tried... I made a collage of a hundred different error messages from Windows that I think I'll put it up for bid on ebay... I just want to go home to my trusty Macs.

Please give me your comments... I would of course welcome.
    Thank you
    NuMetro

I am happy that you have it installed, but you have sound?

I was too surprised when Windows 7 to install all my drivers in device for me!

The video driver that it wanted to install was even later that of Nvidia. Also, it does not have the driver Physx I needed, so I had to install one myself. The other driver, that he has not installed was the pilot for the X - Fi card. He did install my motherboard if chipset drivers, but I turned around and installed ones that came with my motherboard.

Windows 7 does a better job to settle on earlier versions of Windows, but do not watch install what he wants to make sure that it does not have something that you don't want. He came along and updated my video driver again, but when that happens, it installs just the driver itself and not the driver Physx and my video control panel. Now when he talks about video drivers, I just go to Nvidia and download the full set.

You have the option in there for Windows Update to select which updates you want to allow. I would have put to allow you to decide which ones you want and do not let do it on his own.

I'm glad you're a happy camper! I do not see where you come with Vista, I jumped on this operating system completely because of the horror stories I've heard.

  • I need to buy an anti virus, spyware, malware that is compatible with windows 8?

Recently I learned by Microsoft engineers in India to get rid of my Norton Antivirus because it was a compatibility problem with my Windows 8 operating system.  It was based on something on New Years Eve brought back my computer and Microsoft had refresh and spend 6 weeks to correct their mistakes, I guess.  So I did what they said and put on Window Defender who works, of course, with the firewall and Microsoft information, it will cover all issues between the 2.  There is something else to my computer using window defender and stop all services, including Audio of 7 days.  So, not being not able to repair myself, I brought to the Geek Squad at my local Best Buy, where I bought the computer.  They looked and said there was no way to turn the services don't turn it back on and the best solution is to completely uninstall Windows 8, if Windows 7 is still on my computer, it was.  I got it home and reinstalled Windows 8 and wanted my Norton, which is bought and paid for by internet until December 31,2013.  I wanted Norton on because Best Buy told me that Windows Defender was not good enough.  And they were very firm on this matter.  I will reiterate that Microsoft/India was very firm about the use of not no Norton, than to use the window Defender.  I called Best Buy using the number that my local Best Buy store I was given and said that they would be able to install again.  They said that they could not do it because I have dial up and they do only access remotely with wireless internet connections high speed.  Moreover, they did this for me once, just after I lost it on New Years Eve.  So now, I'm so angry.  If I go to Best Buy locally to reinstall they probably charge me.  After all, I just stood right in front of them less than 48 hours where they could do it then and they said no, that the services of Best Buy Nat' l/subscription would do it.  So now I'm looking for a new virus protection that is compatible with Windows 8 and is good.  Price be doomed.  I need something good!  Recommendations there or websites for more information.  I tried Cnet for comments and could not make it appear that I have 2 moths ago.  I just don't remember which they recommended.  McAfree was one, I think only.  And it doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 8.

eSet NOD32 two (antivirus only) year subscription.

Avoid at all costs of McAfee and Norton.

AVG, Avast! and Avira are good freebies too.

  • What to do if the computer is not compatible with windows 7

I have a computer that has lost the ability to use Windows XP by notice on my screen.  When I ran to the compatibiliy Windows 7 audit, the computer is not being upgraded to be compatible with windows 7.  What are my options?  I can't get a new computer.  How can I make my Windows XP operating system works?

To repeat one of my previous questions, what was the view of your receipt of no longer being able to use Windows XP?

And what if you can recall, happened to the computer just before you started to have this opinion?

Normally, except in the case of substantial changes to the hardware, once Windows XP has been activated - as it was to the company - she should stay enabled.

If the computer is connected to the company network, there may be questions to use as a stand-alone computer (which can be fixed).  In addition, there is a body of thought that holds that any used computer should have re-installed Windows.  A computer company, however, is much less likely to have "bad things" about it as previously used by an individual.

The reason that many new computers is coming with OS CD is that Microsoft gives the leading manufacturers (the so-called "Direct OEMS") the opportunity to provide a built-in method to restore the computer to its State 'cost-of-the-factory' rather than provide the CD of the OS.  See How to restore or reinstall Microsoft Windows on a Dell computer.

It is possible, however, that the it Department of the company that has purchased the computer completely erased from the hard drive and loaded a company custom 'image' right under Windows XP and applications that the company wanted to have on its computers.  If this is the case, you can be out of luck unless you can go back to the COMPUTER service company and ask for their help.

Finally, it is possible that you may be able to get a set of backup from Dell disks: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form?c=us&l=en&s=gen&redirect=1

  • I need a driver for a Maxtor 3200 external hard drive compatible with windows 7

I need a driver for a Maxtor 3200 external hard drive compatible with windows 7

I just got a chat session with a Seagate tech (formerly Maxtor).  He said that the Maxtor 3200 s/n I made in 2006 don't is NOT supported by Win7 and never will be.  I just bought the year last from Radio Shack for about $80,00.  If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to try.  I read a blog by which this guy has followed this procedure and it worked, said: let HD; Start Win7; Turn on HD; restart the pc (NOT reboot).  Who has not worked for me.

  • I want to install the Commander of the force star wars on my new PC, but says it is not compatible with windows 64-bit. I try the windows XP mode and it tells me that I need to connect a hardware device 3D

I want to install the Commander of the force star wars on my new PC, but says it is not compatible with windows 64-bit. I have try on windows XP mode and it tells me that I need to connect a hardware 3D device. I really love the game and I want to use it again.

Any old copy of Windows XP that could be installed in the host system? If you do not, it should be available at a modest price of an online seller. Perhaps (I'm not too), even an old Windows 98 TO work. The game (using a 3D engine) will not work under pure DOS, so you need a Windows environment so that it can work. Just FYI: If you get this old classic to run, new issues may arise. Known are the "mss32.dll" runtime error (you may need to replace this file with the newer version of SW:KOTOR 1) and the issue of video cutscenes (the games uses an obsolete video codec, Smacker - either you find an old *.) DLLS for it or have you convert movies in a modern format).

In conclusion: get old games to run on software/hardware modern (it is not only a problem of BONE) is one of the most fascinating and rewarding challenges to a real fan. But do not expect it will not be easy "out of the box" (or simply insert a CD).

  • A product that needs Windows XP SP3 + will be compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium

I have Windows 7 Home Premium and I want to buy a product of heart Math that says Windows XP XP3 +.
What I need to be upgraded or it would be compatible?

Windows 7 has a feature of executing programs that are compatible with a previous version of Windows. If you have Windows 7, then you can run programs that are compatible with the following versions of Windows: -.

    1. Windows 95
    2. Windows 98/Windows Me
    3. Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5)
    4. Windows 2000
    5. Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
    6. Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
    7. Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1)
    8. Windows Server 2008 (Service Pack 1)
    9. Windows Vista
    10. Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
    11. Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)
    12. Windows 7 (obviously)
In your case, you want to run a program that is compatible with Windows XP (Service Pack 3) , then I don't think there should be a problem to do so. Is there a programs on Windows 7 Compatibility Wizard, which helps you run programs that are compatible with a previous version of Windows. You can follow the following steps to run the program compatibility Wizard.
    1. Open the program compatibility Wizard by clicking the start , clicking Control Panel, clicking programs and then click on use an older program with this version of Windows.

    2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

If you are unable to install a program, insert the installation for the program and, using the wizard disk, navigate to the program setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The wizard is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

To change compatibility settings manually for a program, right-click the program icon, click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.
