  My son has a laptop HP/Compaq Presario CQ60-423DX with a bad LCD.  Well, it's actually the backlight.  I could do the repair myself (duty, because the device has fallen - just - out of warranty coverage), but I need references part numbers.  using a reliable link, I tried to get the PC notebook HP G60 and Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide for the URL http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01602064.pdf , but of course, a no-go ("Page Not Found").

  The funny thing is, I can watch and/or download the same manual for the previous model (CQ50); or the next higher level (CQ70) model.  None of these are what I need.  I need a good reference to the CQ60 series.

  Does anyone have any ideas on how to help?

  I need the service manual for your laptop Pavilion 14-v062us in order to change the hard drive without ruining the laptop.  HP support person gave me http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03918301.pdf on Sept 14, but I thought stupidly that he always wouild be there and do not download.  Now that the url returns error 404 not found and I am out of warranty and may not even get a new url into a cat!  This manual should be shown on the product page 14-v062us where it is EASY to find.  Ugh.  Help would be very appreciated.

  The service manual you want to say can not be downloaded. It is only for the authorized service provider and not for users.

  Normally you n t need because you should have the guarantee of your laptop and the ASP can exchange the defective parts.

  These manuals are not for the public, I think that they are available only for authorized service providers. On the Web from Toshiba site, you can download the user manual.

  Original parts can be ordered a service allowed in your country. They can offer all spare parts.
  But I guess you can t change the LAN ports only because he is from s to the motherboard. Therefore, you will need to replace the motherboard together.

• Why Toshiba do not release publicly their Service manuals

  Last year, I bought a Toshiba Equium A60. Last week, does not have the backlight on the monitor. While I'm not really complaining that light is gone that I find it amazing that Toshiba seems not to publish their service manuals. I am a fairly experienced technical person and so I prefer not having to pay Toshiba to take the laptop and replace a light bulb. Before I do this, it would be extremelly useful if I could just have a service manual to refer to.

  I also have another laptop manufacturing. When the HARD drive failed on that I went to the Web site, easily located the correct and downloaded maintenance manual.

  (Of course if Toshiba Customer Service help me so apologies in advance!)

  It seems that only the service guys are able to use these internal documents.
  I think that it is not possible to download these documents, because information is not communicated to everyone.
  Of course, you find a lot of information on hard drives, memory, LED, etc in the manual which is preinstalled on your laptop.

  I would recommend asking the service partner in your country for a retail or / and assistance.

  I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a service manual / engineers Guide to a Satellite L30? I have a hinge broken on my laptop and Toshiba have been very useful in helping me find spare parts - via "Topaz". They also have a bargain at only £8.00 + postage for a pair of them. However, when I asked questions on ' how to ride them? the two have become rather "not useful"!

  And I really do not feel like paying PC World £219.00 what they cited to adapt to them!
