Need a video card

I have a HP pavilion a 1550 y Im don't know what vid card is in it now.

I have 4 GB of RAM and a Pentium D 945 3.4 Ghz installed any suggestions on a video card?

Thank you.

Here are the Specifications of the product for the computer.

The main problem you'll have is the power supply unit (PSU) in the computer.  I think he'll be 250W.  It is almost impossible to find a video card that will work correctly with a 250W power supply.  Most of the newer video cards which would be better you will require at least 350W to 400W.  This would require an upgrade of the power supply.

You will need a PCI Express x 16 video card.  Here is a card that should work for you.  Look at the specifications of the card and you will see that it requires 400W to work properly.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.

  • Need new video card for an HP dc7900

The original video card failed on my dc7900 (purchased in 2009) - a Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 PCie x 16. A repairman replaced with an ATI Radeon x 300 / x 550 but performance index increased from 3.2 to 2.0 and the driver is apparently causing BSOD when I use Google Earth or let the screensaver start. If I turn off the screen saver, the PC will crash when I work. ATI/AMD says it does not support the card under Windows 7 and their drivers for Vista. I have Windows 7 Ultimate with two monitors.

I would get an updated map, but the designation of cards is a little confused and I don't know if the cards would work in the PC. It has PCI 1 and 2. The Quadro 290 has 256 MB. Can I switch to a 300, say, 512 MB, or even something more? The HP site for the dc7900 page recommend the Nvidia card but it does not sell and is not a recommendation of an alternate member. NVIDIA has not responded to an email asking a model of upgrade. Any suggestions? No problem, I have to be concerned as enough food?

    Hi Paul,.

Thank you for the information. I ordered the card and hope it lasts. Good to know that speed chart will be better than the original map. I used to build my own PC from 386, 486 (using SCSI and OS/2 disks) and through first processors Pentium but the motherboard changes left most of my obsolete spare parts. It is safer not to do on the bleeding edge.

On another forum, someone gave me advice on the use of Bluescreenview to know what causes accidents. It turns out that the ATI driver is the cause, and probably because the card is not supported under Windows 7 by the site Web of ATI. Once again, thanks for the help - these forums are great!

  • I need a video card double for it what kind I can use. OS is XP 32 Bit.

d7900C; It is a Minitour convertible Hp. I have a card from Office Max, and the PC gave me 6 beeps. The user is eager to use two monitors and have a screen that is divided between the two.

    [number removed for privacy]

    Hello:

6 beeps is a video card error. I guess that the card is bad or not compatible.

Get a Radeon HD 6350 512 MB video card with the DMS-59 port.

This requires a video cable to split, which can operate 2 monitors out of the map.

Or you can get a Radeon HD 6570 1 GB video card and pass a DVI and a VGA cable up to two monitors on the ports.

  • Pavilion HPE 440F: need new video card for HPE-440F

    Salvation;

The ATI Radeon HD 5570 in my Pavilion HPE 440F appears to be dead, or is doing. The fan has stopped working and I think the map has overheated.

    I'm running Windows 7 x 64.

Anyway - I would like to install a new card - and best video. It is, since it is HP, I bet that not all cards are compatible with my system.

For example, I can buy an ATI Radeon SR-290, which gets much higher than my current card pass mark. Or maybe even a NVidia card might be a better value for the money.

Can someone point me to a list of compatible video cards for my system?

    Thank you

p.s. My Linux box is not an HP.

    Ubuntu_Kid, welcome to the forum.

The problem you are having is, most of the newer video cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  Your computer was released on August 26, 2010.

Some of the manufacturers have developed a VBIOS that will allow their cards to work with legacy BIOS.  I know that the EVGA has done with some of their cards.  I suggest to call their Tech Support (1888-880-3842) to see if they have a card that will work with your computer.

  • HP Pavilion Elite e9280t - need to video card

I've been out of the arena of PC game for many years. With the release of Skyrim, I seek to get back in and want to update my card low video supplied with the machine (ATI Radeon HD 4650).

Problem is that I am naïve about what will work with it. I'm looking for the best ATI card based I can get for less than $200 that suit and will work without upgrading of power supply. I think the power of this machine is 460w? Something about I'm sure. With all these variables such as size, power connectors 8 pin/6 pin, power supply, etc, I'm a little lost.

My machine is 64-bit with 12 GB of ram, quad core i7 920 processor. The graphics card is the weak link in my machine according to the 'Win Exp' score.

    Suggestions?

  • HP m8000: unrecognized in the PCI-Express x 16 slot video card.

I am upgrading to a former m8000. Hp already put a new 750 watt PSU in it Corsair and it does not always recognize any of 3 pci-e video cards I've tried. I already went into the bios and changed the video settings to pci-e and still nothing. Is there only certain video cards compatible with this thing or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much

This is because the latest gen video card is compatible with UEFI BIOS, not the legacy BIOS that has your PC.

The BIOS legacy do not see it as a gift.

You will need a video card that only inherited BIOS compatibility or that has a switch that allows you to group compatibility legacy BIOS and UEFI BIOS.   Sapphiretech of the 200 series r7 r9-300 series video cards meet the criterion.

  • Pavilion p7 - 1226 s video card upgrade

    Summary:

I want to improve my system with the highest rated PassMark reference video card that my system will support with my current 300W power supply.

    Details:

I bought a new Pavilion p7 - 1226 s last month with the intention of upgrading the system with more memory, another hard drive internal and a new card video - over time. I'm not a power user; I just want to keep my skills in the game with these actions.

The last system I upgraded has been focused on the PCI so I was excited about the capabilities of PCI-E 2.0 of this system for the video upgrade. I considered the 300W PSU to be of sufficient size to allow a decent upgrade. I went to Nvidia.

I believe that the integrated video (HD 2000?) in my system of registers somewhere between 245 and 375 refers.

The Geforce GT 430 and 440 again specify a power of 300W. Their notes are respectively 667 and 830.

I wonder if my system will support these cards.  So, I write this way. If it is not, my question then becomes "what video card my system will support? Double width would be perfect. There seems to be a lot of physical space of the card.

I think that most video cards specify not only power but rated current. These current ratings can be anywhere from 12 to 22 amps at 12 volts amps. I was also unsuccessful in discovering what could be the p7 power supply 12V rated current.

I searched this forum briefly and I am impressed with many of the answers. I know there are some really smart people out there who can help me. Thank you in advance.

My target price on sale at Fry Electronics is about $75. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Thanks again

    Hello

The amperages are additive for the dimensioning of power which only has some relationship to what the video card needs.  Video card manufacturers want to head because they don't really know how everyone PC is configured and just how hard the graphics card will be used.

I change this link for the HP of the above items. I was never in this place so I do not know how the address was mutilated.

Also far than the 545 NVIDIA goes, stick with the card HP as it is designed for a 300 Watt power supply.  I suspect that the retail sector 545 work but safe, stick with the HP 545.

    Hello

Windows 10 will allocate memory dynamically to the use of the video and then remove if necessary by other tasks.  A dedicated graphics with 2 GB card should be enough for most games.

The EVGA GTX 750 TI would be a good choice.  No need to change the power supply with this card.

    Hello

Thanks for asking! If I understand, you need a video card for support driver reacquire it required Open GL. I suggest you follow the troubleshooting steps to check if this may help.

What is the brand and model of graphics card?

All graphics cards support OpenGL. However, not all cards are supported the same version of OpenGL. Some older cards have drivers only to provide support for some features of OpenGL.
OpenGL is already provided with the common drivers for graphics cards. The standard will not be managed, however, on some older graphics cards.

You can check the manufacturer's Web site.

Just reply with the results. I'd be happy to help you more

  • Compatibility of the video card?

I just got a Dell Optiplex 745 of Amazon of an official repairer and want to upgrade to 64-bit. I need a video card that is compatible with this computer. If I get one and then change the OS sytems from 32 to 64 bits after installing the video card will it affect function?

If the computer is not come from the factory with 64-bit, it's very unlikely work with 64 - bit.  Your drivers (for the video card and other elements) cannot install or work this way.

  • Problem on HP Pavilion dv7-6c90el with Windows 8 Pro x 64 on video card

    Good evening

I just finished installing Windows 8 x 64 Win7 Pro, I could find all the drivers for my laptop, but I have problems with the video card settings.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv7-6c90el with two graphics cards, one managed by the processor, because it seems to do, and the other is normally installed on the PC.

The cards are read by Windows as:

Unit 1: Intel HD Graphics 3000
Unit 2: AMD Radeon HD 6700 m Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.20)

the problem lies in the fact that the device must be a supported per second, or disabled, as it will not be. AMD video card must be set to 1 and the intel 2. If I go to the "Device Manager" to disable the card intel Windows, it works as if he was absent any video card, also installed driver is not correct because the card is an AMD Radeon HD7690M XT, the problem is that even if I uninstall this driver then always comes back. I also tried to download AMD Catalyst in the latest version, but can't find the card. It's as if the windows are imposed only use the unit 1, which, however, I can not disable the BIOS, because there is no voice. I note that Windows 7 had no problem.

I ask you to help me because I need the video card for my work performance.

Fixed the link - please try again

  • New Inspiron 560 - dual head video card

    Hello

I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 560, which is being built as I type.  I use a multi-screen work configuration and the habit of it - so I would like to upgrade my computer to do so.  I have a good bit of experience working on the PC, but not recently - and it seems that the world of video cards has changed a bit in the past 6 years and more.  (I think I know that the onboard video will have to be disabled to use another video card, so it would take the dual head card or USB video adapter.)

I don't want to upgrade the power supply, which I believe would be necessary with a video card "hardcore".  I'm not a gamer and don't expect to ever need a video card that powerful.   I am considering Radeo 4350 card made by Asus (a brand that I know) http://www.amazon.com/Radeon-EAH4350-PCI-Express-Silent-Graphics/dp/B00203CU5S/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1291916786&sr=1-4

What is a good option that works in the Inspiron 560?  Thank you in advance!

An addendum to the original question: one of my monitors has a HDMI input - it seems that the Inspiron 560 has 1 HDMI output and 1 VGA output.  Could I just use these for a 2 two monitor Setup?

    Thank you.
