• Satellite A200 - need driver for CD/DVD drive

  Hey people.

  Recently installed WXP Pro on my laptop A200 PSAEC, so I'm now in dual boot XP and Vista on my laptop.

  Problem is that I have all the drivers doesn't work on XP and everything works perfectly, but when I tried to burn a DVD, Nero said the recorder cannot burn DVDs. In 'My Computer', the drive shows up as a DVD - RW drive, but when I insert a blank DVD, it says CD drive. The drive shows up as "TCSDcor" CD/DVGW TC - L6 #2D "" in Device Manager. I searched a driver, but it is impossible to find an exact match for this drive and there is no driver optical drive on this section of driver from the Toshiba site. The only thing I found is an executable file of the firmware upgrade, but it throws an error saying that it is the wrong drive.

  Anyone got any ideas?

  You don't need a new driver for CD/DVD drive because it s a part of the operating system. So, you won't find one.

  I think you should try to remove the upper and lower filters in the registry. I did the same thing a few days ago, if I also had problems with my CD/DVD player and it worked for me! :)

  There is no such thing as a pilot for ODD (optical disc drive). It uses the standard Microsoft driver. Try please remove the disc from the Device Manager, then restart the laptop. After reboot the ODD will be detected and installed it again. Check please if the problem persists.

  If yes I recommend you to install the driver for DVD-RAM (DVDForm Utility). You can find it on the download page of Toshiba. I use the 3.0.9.0a version. and it works perfectly.

  I don't have a direct solution for you, but they have a few tips.  Some of the older HP optical drives had no drivers on non HP CDs/DVDs start installation when it is started, but after complete installation disks pilots would be present.  Workaround for this was to start from an attached external USB CD/DVD drive which had virtually always drivers available for the USB bridge and so you could get through the first phase of the installation and subsequently, the pilots were present on the target SSD or HARD drive.  Some had drivers on the disk/partition restoration provided by HP that can help start you from these disks, but the necessary drivers were not on Microsoft source install CD/DVD.  If you had the chance that you have never seen this problem, but a potential workaround was to flash update the firmware of the player (if HP had an update available) and that would take care of things.  I saw this problem on HP optical drive to a Z620 which could not install a "system builder" W7Pro64 DVD purchased directly from Microsoft, but used the trick of USB external optical drive connected to this first hurdle.  After installing the drivers of archive on the Microsoft DVD allow that optical drive work great since then.

  I had one type of old optical drive from HP who has not had an update of the firmware of HP, but Dell fact.  I learned to cross-flash"the firmware and the drive then ran with the Dell firmware and finally could be used with Windows 7.  He could not with the HP firmware, but this optical drive works fine on XP.  Cross flashing was quite the year.

  There is no HP FW update that I can see to your optical drive, but Lenovo and Dell have one for the same drive.  It might be worth looking at and I would go with the Dell for cross flashing firmware, but it's really not worth it, you will need to put learning on this subject.  My advice is different:

  Go on eBay and find an optical drive "of opportunity" HP and what to buy.  Later versions have reference numbers higher, as you will see.  Get something that starts with a 6 or better yet 7.  You want to a CD R/W and it should also have a DVD R / w.  You can get those who shipped, for about $ 12.00.  Used means practically new, usually given how little these optical drives are cooked up to our days.

  If you do a search on Google you will find a lot of results on this error message and in general it s associated with the middle of the installation (DVD itself).

  Do you use an original disc of Microsoft Windows 7, or is it a copy to a friend?

  You should only use the Microsoft original disks with valid software.
