  • a trick to find the drivers for "unknown devices".

I see a lot of messages on the forum in which users try to find the drivers for "unknown devices" in the Device Manager.  That's how I usually go on the search for drivers for these users.  I thought that the community, this may be useful.

I use a site called pilot identifier.  However, I do NOT use the stand-alone application.  I'm NOT suggesting that do you.  I have not used the app, so I can't speak to its usefulness.

I use the site to determine exactly what is the material element.  To do this, the site doesn't have a search function, I use a updated Google search the.  I will now give the steps with examples.

First of all, you need the hardware ID for your hardware.  To locate this information, follow these steps.

    1. Click Start, type "Device Manager" and press ENTER.
    2. Look for the device that needs a driver.
    3. Right click on the device and select Properties.
    4. Go to the tab "Details".
    5. Select hardware ID from the drop-down.

Here is an example of a hardware ID:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_10EC & DEV_0662 & SUBSYS_103C3047 & REV_1001.

I then use this Hardware ID and Google to determine what the hardware item by searching for the use of the site: modifier for Google.  So, my research looks like this

    "site:www.driveridentifier.com .

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_10EC & DEV_0662 & SUBSYS_103C3047 & REV_1001.

When I go to the first result, it will be, in general, identify the material at the top of the page.  Here is the page for my research above.   The page identifies audio material like "realtek high definition", which is correct because it's the hardware for my sound card ID.

Now, on this page if you scroll down it gives you a list of all OEM drivers for this piece of hardware.  However, you cannot download the drivers from them without having to install their software.  What I do is so, note the name of the driver for HP.  In this case, you will see that she is named "sp59642.exe".

Because I can not download the driver from the website, or even be directly connected to HP's Support site from there, I still use Google.

This time, I use a search of "sp59642.exe" in Google, which returns this page as the first result.

I can't always find the executables that are listed by pilot identifier.  For example, I can't locate sp59660 or sp59662 who are both on the same list.  So it may take a few tries to find a driver, but I had some success using this method.

I hope the community finds this useful tip.  Have a great week everyone!

  • HP 15-f009ca: can not find the drivers for my PC after downgrading to Windows 7

    Hello world!
A few weeks ago, I bought a Hp laptop of type 15-f009ca. Because I didn't like windows 8, I downgraded to Windows 7. The installation was successful, but I could not find the driver for my PC wireless LAN.
Anyone know where I can download it?
Or is it still possible to find the driver windows 7 for this guy?

    Hello:

You should be able to use most of the W7 x 64 drivers and software from the HP 255 G2 on your model except the BIOS and firmware files.

Your laptop is the Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11bg / n 1 x 1 WiFi adapter, this is how the wireless driver you need.

In addition, you need these drivers usb3.  Install both and restart.

  • Compaq Mini 110 c-1103SO: need drivers for network cards after upgrade to Win 8.1

Woman's cell phone upgraded from XP to Win 8 Pro.  All set up, all the upgrades installed etc. disappeared.  Everything was fine, even got most of its programs to operate correctly and not had any problem with the internet.  Then fed Microsoft forces the OS update to 8.1 (PRO) and she lost contact to the internet.

No other device have problems with our home WLAN, regardless if they are connected by a wireless router or cable.  The newly improved PC connects to the router, wired and wireless, but the connection is 'limited' and gives no net access.  Even when you try a portable WiFi connection with a Tablet, the connection remains limited.

Contacted support technique microsoft: they claim 8.1 kernel is so different from 8.0 that the drivers on the PC no longer compatible (even if winning 8.1 was happy enough to re - install while improving...).  They also claim to be unaware that it even all compatible drivers are available for the cards we have.  This is their desire to 'help' ended and they told me to contact the manufacturer of the PC for those compatible.

Network cards are: Broadcom 802.11 g network card and Qualcomm Atheros AR8132 PCI - E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30).

What are the specifications for the drivers, I need and where can I get them?  Given that the affected device has no internet connection, I obviously need to download the drivers to another PC and transfer them using a memory stick.

Grateful for the help earlier - wife is not very happy...

    You are the very welcome.

Glad you were able to solve the problem by upgrading the equipment.

  • unknown driver for unknown devices must be installed.

Whenever I reboot, unknown drivers for unknown devices must be installed.  Camera card reader will not work.  All work USB devices are not recognized.

    Hello

Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Run the fixit from Microsoft Fixit article and if that helps.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

    Method 2:

Try the steps in the following Microsoft article and check that you get pop-ups.

Tips for solving problems of USB devices:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/tips-for-solving-problems-with-USB-devices

And also make sure that you have installed drivers updated to the device works correctly, as for the card reader for camera. For the correct drivers you can try to contact the manufacturer of the computer.

    Hope the information is useful.
