Need help to set up officejet pro 8600 and scanning to the network on OSX Lion folder

Hello

I'm trying to implement my Officejet Pro 8600 more scan to a network under OSX Lion folder.  I have correctly set up the printer otherwise (and can scan and flown from my Mac).  I created SMB sharing as described in the documentation.  My only question is what to enter in the Web server of the printer when it asks for the network path of the shared folder.

For example, I have the following shared folder:

/ Users/me/Documents/scans/Durable goods received

on my computer that has name is:

My iMac

has an IP address:

172.16.1.4

wonder web server of the printer a network path (for example: \\mypc\sharedfolder) but I do not know how to translate my way above in the correct format.

I tried the following:

AFP://172.16.1.4//users/me/documents/scans/durable------Goods\ recipes

but he doesn't like it.

I also tried:

Recipes of \\172.16.1.4\Users\bvz\Documents\scans\Durable of goods.

Nothing helps.

Thanks for any help or ideas!

Hello

First of all, make sure to install the latest firmware for the printer.

SMBX (used by Lion sharing protocol) support added lately, and the device fails to access any forlder Lion shared with an older FW version:

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02919168

You have shared the folder durable goods received ?

If so, I guess the correct path would be as follows:

\\172.16.1.4\Durable goods received

Please let me know of any changes,

Shlomi

Since I have installed 8.1 (pro), I can't use my 8600 software Pro for scanning the computer (via USB). It seems that there is no communication with the printer regarding the scanning software, but printing as usual.

Tried to use the HP printer Assistant: when I click on the button "scan a Photo Document or", I get a message "inaccessible Scanner. Also restarted the printer.

When I try to scan from Photoshop, the system first finds the printer, but it fails to connect.

Update HP says that my system is up to date.

HP Print and Scan Doctor 4.2 concludes and tells the printer on the welcome panel and seems to be able to communicate with him, up to a point.

It gives me a error 'pilot' (sorry if is not called in English - he takes over my keyboard language, which is French and says "Pilot error") and says that no communication could be created between the printer and the driver for scanning, and I have to restart the computer...

So I did and revived the software of the doctor, who gave me the same error message. This time, I clicked on 'Ignore' and let things. He ran a "Scan" Test twice and said that everything was going well or had been repaired. But strangely nothing on the printer during these 'tests '. And in the end, as he offered to do a scan test myself, I clicked on OK and I got the error message "inaccessible Scanner" again.

Then I did my scans on a USB key, as I have done a few times already, and has gone very well. But I'd be happy to have this function "Scan to computer" back. How?

Thanks in advance 23. It is resolved! See to the end.

I click on 'Ignore' right now because I know now that a restart will not help, but I have already tried (see my first post).

It seems that the problems have been repaired. And if I click on 'Scan Test', it seems too good, initially...

But if I go on and click on "Scan", bye bye:

Everything is the same as the first time, as I remember.

I checked services: dependencies are OK (RPC is in the WIA Service dependencies). Both services are "Running" and "automatic". I stopped and restarted WIA. No change.

    I launched a sfc/scannow:

Before that, I changed the USB (a new one): no change.

AND THEN: I unplugged the USB cable connecting the port (USB3) standard (directly on the rear panel of the motherboard) and plugged into a PCI USB3 card. And all was well with the scan.

Do you think this says something about my motherboard (Asus X 79 Deluxe brand new) or on the Officejet?

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 n911a - configuration of the network folder

    Hi all!

I ran into an interesting issue with my Officejet 8600.

I wanted to network configuration scan to a folder hosted on our server running SBS 2011. We have a generic scan account that has read/write access to the server share, \\server\scans.

I've set up the folder via the web interface of the printer.

The problem is that when I test the connection, it always returns the same error: connection failed.

I tried to use the IP address of the server instead, but nothing helped. I don't know if that helps any, but I see that it immediately gives me error when I use the IP address. When I use the name of the server, it takes a little longer to return the error.

We use the account analysis for other printers on our network with no problems. I do not see any of what failure of audits on the server event logs, so I don't know if its still knock on the server.

    Any advice?

BasikStuff, honestly one of the easiest ways to save the scans is that there is a direct Email to Scan app available via web services, which has streamlined save scans a lot.

However, I would recommend reading this document:

It is written for LaserJet business, but the process should be similar for your printer as well.

I don't see how the disc can be pulled from the paper tray standard as requiring the flexibility of paper to make turns in the normal way. Is there a secret door, that I can't find?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 - Paper copy on the glass of the scanner, Officejet tries to copy the ADF

I'm trying to copy a document on my HP Officejet Pro 8600.  I placed the original face down on the scanner glass.  There is no original in the ADF.  Then, I pressed "Copy" and "launch in black."  the Offficejet then "think" the original is in the ADF file and try to copy a non-existent original.  The Officejet then generates a paper jam «»
in the ADF file' error message with instructions to clear paper jam and press 'OK' and spews a piece of paper from the paper tray. There is not an option for 'back '.  If I try to humor the Officejet by opening and closing the cover of the ADF and pressing 'OK', the Officeject generates a copy which is covered with black ink.  If I ask preview copy o, the document on the scanner glass is displayed.  I can adjust margins, etc.  When I select then 'copy' and 'Black start', the Officejet is trying to copy a nonexistent document in the ADF and generates the "Paper jam" message again.  Since there is not an option "go back", I turn the printer off, then turn it back on, and then try again.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 appears twice in the selection of drop down menu printer with each of the different names.

    Hello!

I recently acquired an Officejet Pro 8600 and immediately connected to my network wireless as stated in the manual. No other type of connection has been used beforehand and the operating system is Windows 7 64 bit.

After that the installation of the printer driver appears twice each time that a program asks me to select a printer from the drop of the printing devices in the typical menu of preparation of printing.

There is an entry for "Officejet Pro 8600 (network)" and something in the sense of 'HP95CDN' (Officejet Pro 8600). I can't remember the exact names off the top of my head, but it is the name of the printer with the 'network' in brackets in one case and a kind of shortcut ID printer with full name in parentheses in the other case.

According to the program, one of the options gives the desired impression while the other simply causes a queue of indelible impression for the name of the unit in question that is stuck to a few KB of data transmission.

Usually printing works with the device with the identification of the printer in its name, but I recently had a case where with LibreOffice printing only works with the other choice.

Can someone explain to me exactly means?

    See you soon,.

Direct entry Wireless will be visible under menu so direct wireless is on... However, since you are able to print another icon (not the network icon) I assume direct wireless is off coz you will not be able to print from wireless directly on the printer if you are connected to the router.

I believe that the icon of the printer (not the network icon) has a port WSD assigned and is automatically detected by the operating system and installed.

Go to service window and check if you have any input that says function Discovery Provider Host and see if it is started. Try to stop the service, and remove the icon of the printer (not the network icon) in the print server properties.

Restart the PC and check if the icon comes back or try to uninstall and reinstall

Two weeks ago, I set up a HP Officejet Pro 8600 more using two USB & ethernet cable connections... Everything works very well on all devices - iPad, iPhone, MacBook Pro, Win7 desktop PC and portable Win7... until the printer goes to sleep.  We does not display every day, so it may be a few days between printing / scanning.

As I kept an eye on to do this, it has happened twice now, it may take a few days before the printer is unresponsive.  When laptops Windows 7 need to print, the printer does not respond until what feed us the cycle.  The INVESTIGATION period has not changed on the printer and the software HP Update says that everything is up-to-date.

From what I can tell, other devices - Win 7 Desktop, iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pros seem to be the problem.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: White scan Pages of the feeder of the Officejet Pro 8600

Trying to browse the food tray, scanner empty pages. Analysis on the flat. I tried to restart the laptop and printer also does to unplug for a minute.

    Hey @cornerstone1,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I see that your Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one printer is the digitization of the blank pages to your machine in Mac OS x 10.8. I can help you with that.

First of all, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once this is done, we will do a few things to refine the question. To do:

    1. Place a page with printed face down on the flat.
    2. Place a page with different print material face up in the ADF Document (CAD).
    3. Make a copy of the printed page.

The next steps will depend on what is printed.

If the printer made a copy of the page on the flat:

The printer does not detect anything in the charger. Try to insert a blank sheet of 8.5 "X 11" or A4 paper and see if you hear a noise or identical to "document loaded Original" message. " If you have not the printer will need to be replaced. You can contact the HP Support by clicking on this link and fill out the form below to discuss the options based on your warranty.

If the printer did a Virgin copy:

Take a blank sheet of paper, write a 1 on one side of the sheet and number 2 on the back side. Then insert the paper in the tray and make a copy. If you still see a blank page then the printer will have to be replaced. You can contact the HP Support by clicking on this link and fill out the form below to discuss the options based on your warranty.

If the printer made a copy of the page in the ADF:

There is a problem with the drivers scanner on your Mac. To correct this:

    1. Unplug the USB cable from the printer, if it is connected to your Mac.
    2. Click Apple, system and print and Scan preferences.
    3. Hold down the CTRL key and click on the picture of the printer on the left.
    4. Click on reset printing system.
    5. Open Applications and your Hewlett-Packard folder.
    6. Launch the HP uninstaller.
    7. Open Applications, utilities and disk utilities.
    8. Click "Macintosh HD" on the left.
    9. Click on verify disk permissions. This should take about 10 minutes.
    10. Click on repair disk permissions. This should take about 10 minutes.
    11. Restart your Mac.
    12. Download and install the latest drivers by clicking on this link.

At this point, you should be able to scan from the ADF.

Please let me know if that solves your problems by clicking on accept Solution below my post or if you have any other questions. If not, have a great week!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Scan quality issue

    Hello

I just set up my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, and everything seems to work properly.  I am really disappointed by the quality of the images so, so I thought I'd see if anyone has experienced the same problem?

The scanned images are very dynamic, but are too.  Detail is lost in the scan either because the brightness, or because the scanner is not properly using the resolution I have him ask to scan (600 dpi).  I have tried various different brightness and contrast settings in the scan dialog, nothing helps.  Printing HP and Scan Doctor reported no problem.  Increase the resolution of scanning on the 8600 is not helped either.

I joined a segment of an image of the 8600 and a lot cheaper all-in-one I expected to replace, a canon mp630.  I have bought the 8600 because the scanner component had good reviews, but based on my experience, that I'm starting to have my doubts!

Please let me know if you think there's nothing I can do to improve the quality of the scans?

    I use Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit.

    Thank you

    Pete

8600 scan 600 dpi (Note lack of paper grain)

Canon MP630, 600 dpi (capture of paper grain, wash the details)

Unfortunately, I must point out that the replacement was no better.  It's a real shame, old flat scanner HP I was replacing with the ACM was high quality, but the Pro 8600 scanner was simply not enough good.

Ultimately I exchanged for another manufacturer MFP that produces a large part analysis better (even if printing is not as good).

I had much rather have paid more for a higher quality scan on the HP, but this option is not available to me, which is a shame!  On the 8600 Pro scan color reproduction was great, but there not only to capture the details.

You can adjust for color problems in the software, but if the detail is not captured, you can't put it in!

  • HP officejet pro 8600 and connectivity

I have a hp officejet pro 8600 more and that you have connected the system to my old pc (win xp operating system) via a USB cable.

I also want to use the printer from my laptop (WIN 7 64 bit) via my wireless network.

I took a peek on the site www.hp.com/go/customercare and I'm still unsure of what I need to make connections and what setting I should follow to get the old PC and my laptop running.

Should I remove the USB cable and set up a WiFi network only, or use the USB and wireless network?

Assuming that both computers are connected to the same router wired / wireless, then the easy way to do this is to connect the printer to the router (only).

I recommend that connect you the printer to the router with an Ethernet cable, if it is located close to the router.  A Wi - Fi connection is also possible.  Use the Wireless Setup Wizard in the network menu on the front of the printer to establish a wireless connection.

Once the printer is connected to your router, download and install the latest version of the software for your printer from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page.

    Hi ranjisamaraweera,

Even though I'm MVP I represent Microsoft or speak. If I can and will speak
    as I think.

The proper functioning of the printer and Scanner is the direct responsibility of the producer of material
and no windows. There are hundreds of these devices that work correctly on Windows 7 if
those who don't have no drivers and other interfaces which are not compatible to Windows 7 should be
written correctly. Of course many older devices are not supported by their creators for later
Versions of Windows. Microsoft passes but does not write drivers and interfaces
Printers and Scanners need to function properly. So, the manufacturer and no one else, is totally
Manager to see if there are interfaces and appropriate drivers.

Many device makers do not write new drivers and interfaces for older hardware because either
they cannot support the new methods or because they want to sell new hardware.

Personally, I don't think that Microsoft is lying because they also say that device manufacturers have the
Omos unique to provide the necessary compatible drivers and interfaces.

    I hope this helps.
