Need help troubleshooting a Data Execution Prevention (DEP) related to Acrobat and scan edition.

Windows XP SP3, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.2, TWAIN driver

I'm trying to find an answer to help someone else troubleshoot.

Thus, the user could be used successfully before, scan-to-function PDF Acrobat but now receives a DEP notice that says "To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program" and lists of Acrobat. Features of Acrobat with a DEP notice normally except when trying to analyze.

There has been no change other than an update to Acrobat (from 9.1.3 to 9.2 http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/500/cpsid_50026.html) and standard Windows updates known system. Checked all user XP updates been made, did a repair on the installation of Acrobat and checked that he was using the scanner the most recent driver.

The user disable DEP and everything works well. This fixes the problem, but open the computer to a potential attack.

Any suggestions on what to try? This could be a problem with the TWAIN driver? is their any way to check?
Help appreciated - thank you!

Hello Annanmty,

Thank you for your message.  We will turn on DEP for all programs, and then add Adobe to the list of exceptions.  Please click HERE for instructions on how to do it.  Please let us know if it did or did not help to solve your problem.

But when I try to load it, I get a message from the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) section of my Windows XP that says it's close Windows Explorer and then my desktop is disabled, and the only way out of this mess for seems to be to ctrl-alt-del and log off.

Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) authorized the code from the locations of memory system reserved for Windows and other programs. Turn off the Data Execution Prevention (DEP)

Viruses and other security threats can control your PC by executing code from memory. To avoid damage, the Data Execution Prevention (DEP for short) feature monitors program applications to ensure they use the memory protected securely. Improper use, by application, protected memory and the measures of prevention of execution of data automatically and on-farm application.

While DEP, by default, controls that Windows programs and services, it is possible to increase protection by having DEP monitor all applications on your PC.

As DEP activity screens in the background, you can't have made experience DEP close a program down. On the other hand, you have already experience DEP at work because he closed an application you trust in fact.

Like all the security features, it is not recommended that disable you these features. It is better, if possible, to work with the security feature. In many cases there are options available that a reliable program that constantly causes DEP block he may actually have to run without having to completely turn off security completely feature.

No matter how good or how essential a security feature is there will always be a minority of users who want to stop it completely. These instructions are for those who can not live with DEP.

    Disable

1 / click on the Start button

2 / in the start menu, click all programs

3 / on the all programs menu click Accessories

    Enable

Later, if you want to re-enable DEP proceed as follows:

1 / click on the Start button

3 / on the all programs menu click Accessories

  • Data Execution Prevention ended at Half Life 2 (hl2.exe)

I bought half-life 2 and install it on my new Vista pc. So I finished the installation, and I open up half-life 2. It takes a strangely long time to load, and the second it seems to finish loading, it closes, saying that he had a problem and hl2.exe had to be closed. In my taskbar, a small message will appear, indicating that the prevention of execution of data is completed half-life 2, click here for more details. So I clicked on the little bubble, and he showed a lot of things on the data execution prevention. And so I tried to disable it to hl2.exe and hl2_launch.exe, and then I restarted my computer. Once rebooted, my computer, I opened hl2.exe again. Same thing has happened, data execution prevention blocked hl2.exe. (And I'm sitting at my desk thinking, "Hold it.") Didn't I just put hl2.exe and hl2_launch.exe as exceptions in the data execution prevention? ") So I googled until I found another way to help." Then I went in cmd, it ran as administrator and copied and pasted the code from a help page - bcdedit.exe/set {current} nx AlwaysOff

Or did Bill Gates? Help, please. It seems that I can't turn off DEP, and I can't add a program as an exception, even though my computer says I can. Hello

As you have already given an exception to this game and the problem persists, it must have some other programs interrupted during the launch of a game. Try to disable all non-Microsoft programs and then play the game to check its operation.

    1. follow step 1 to perform a clean boot to disable all non-Microsoft programs: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    2. restart the computer and launch the game to check its operation.
    3. If the game works fine, then follow step 2 to step 6 to find out what is causing the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    4. follow step 7 to start the computer as usual.

You can also check if the problem continues in a new user account.
