    Hello

You can not replace the HARD disk controller.
The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if it works badly then you would to replace the whole motherboard.

  • Do I need an external hard drive if I use iCloud?

Do I need an external hard drive if I use iCloud?  I had used a Western Digital My Book Essential Edition, 500 GB, for the past 7 years.  It kept blinking and blinks so I unplugged probably too old.

Now, I'm wondering if I should get another external hard drive or if iCloud does automatic backups.  I'm not too knowledgeable on these things and would appreciate help.

I use a Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite.

    Thank you!

Yes, you need an external hard drive to back up your Mac.  iCloud or iCloud library reader are not a backup of your data and documents.  Are the copy job. Get a new external drive with enough storage - Lear three times the size of the internal drive of your Mac and then set up Time Machine.

  • Tecra M2 - I need a new HARD drive compatible

Hi, I just bought a 2nd hand Tecra M2, but the hard drive will be replaced soon because it is endangered. I found a hard drive on ebay that says it's compatible, it says in the title for the hard drive

    "Toshiba Laptop Tecra TE S2 S1 M3 M2 M1 hard disk 120 GB.
    (Here's a direct link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toshiba-120GB-Laptop-Hard-Drive-Tecra-TE-S2-S1-M3-M2-M1_W0QQitemZ230361558318QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Dri ves_Storage_Internal? hash = item35a29e6d2e & _trksid = p 3286.m63.l1177)

but there seems to be so many models of m2 that I don't know if this drive will be compatible with each other. I'm a novice, if you have not already guessed! So, I would be very grateful for the advice. Model No. my particular M2. is PTM20E-01KK3-FR

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

For the Tecra M2 you need a HARD drive with IDE interface, and this means that the HDD from eBay should also work on your laptop properly.

As far as I know the Tecra M2 may due the only handful of 28-bit LBA limit s HDD up to 128 GB 120 GB HARD drive should work. :)

    Welcome them

  • TE2100 - do I need a specific HARD drive?

Hey all, I have benn having some problems with my te2100.
After putting in a large number of hours set up with ubuntu 8.10 it was great to work for a few months.

Then he had an adjustment while I was doing something fairly tedious and hard drive seems to be stuffed.

I tried another hard disk of 40 GB, but it was not recognized when you try to install windows xp and ubuntu.

    * Do I need a type of hard drive for my toshiba specidic? * I noticed the 160 GB drives on ebay for sale, to TE2100 specific advertising and some other models of toshiba.

    Hello!

This pretty old laptop is equipped with a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that you can use a HARD drive up to 128 GB s or let say a 120 GB HARD drive.
Here you can read interesting information on this limitation: [www.48bitlba.com]

Normally, you can choose each up to 120 GB HARD drive with IDE interface.
Have what HDD 40 GB you tried? I have good experiences with Seagate and Hitachi hard drives.

    Good bye

  • Satellite M30 - need to change HARD drive

    Hello

I bought a Satellite SM30-104 (model No.: PSM30E-0QRYK-EN) in 2004 and it seems that the HARD drive is dead since it reboots windows xp family again and again. While Windows is loading, at some point, the laptop restarts from the beginning. I can not even access the Bios.

Therefore, I suspect the HARD drive to be dead and would like to change: SMART MK4021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 T, 40 GB, 4200 RPM,.

Could you please let me know where I can buy a new, similar or compatible with more storage?

Your response will be much appreciated!
    Best regards

    Florian PAUMEIR

    > While Windows is loading, at some point, the laptop restarts from the beginning. I can not even access the Bios
    > Accordingly, I suspect the HARD drive to be dead and would like to change: SMART MK4021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 T, 40 GB, 4200 RPM,.

Hmm if the HDD died then windows would not load what whatever, and you get an OS message cannot be found.

However, if you want to change the HARD drive then you can do this
You will need a 2.5 IDE HDD. I think the 120 GB limitation due to the LBA28bit
However, it is my personal opinion perhaps more HARD drive would be compatible as well

  • Satellite C660 - need a new hard drive, but which?

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-1f1 run windows 7 64-bit. 320GB hard drive there and I want to replace preferably with greater capacity, a but I'm not sure what would be appropriate.

    Anyone has any suggestions please?

    Hello

Satellite C660, but also other models of notebooks to new generation supports the SATA controller, which means that you need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
The size of the HARD disk is not relevant for the compatibility of the devices. This means that you can use HDD of 250 GB, 500GB etc.

But I wouldn't take a HARD drive for an upgrade. I would choose an SSD. This SSD drive is more expensive but believe me; It of certainly worth taking a SSD instead of HARD drive.
You will get great performance gain. This SSD drive is also very quiet.

Maybe it s best option for you

  • Satellite L300 - new info required hard drive

I own a Satellite L300 and need to replace the hard drive. I am in Korea and went to the DEPOT, but they could not only replace the drive hard because they had only them in Korean, so I have to go elsewhere to get one in English (this is what I was told anyway) I don't know much about computers, I'm looking for help.

When I bought my computer it came with Vista pre installed, so I don't have an installation disc or something like that. Because I get a new hard drive, I also will need to buy Vista and install it myself?

    Hello, my friend

I'm a bit confused after reading your ad. Replacing the HARD drive is so simply and can be done by anyone and I do not understand how the service couldn t be able to do this. for this action, you need 10 minutes and can be done without manuals or service manuals.

If you want to do this alone, please follow these steps:
    -Turn the laptop
    -Remove the battery
-close to the battery you will see HDD cover fixed with two screws
-remove the screws and the cover of the HARD drive
-remove the block of HARD drive by pulling on the tab of the battery, following the direction of the arrows
-Place the pack HARD drive on a flat surface (such as a desk) and remove the two screws flat head black with black head screws
Please be careful with hard drives and apply pressure to the top or bottom of the unit.

    Vista operating system
New Toshiba laptops are delivered without disc facilities but recovery image is saved on the HARD drive. When you start the laptop for the first time, you will see the recall of information you need to create this single disc using pre-installed Toshiba Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. If you do not create and now the HARD drive is faulty, you have a problem. You must order the new Toshiba recovery media or you can use disks of Microsoft facilities to install Vista.

If I forgot something please let me know.

  • need a new hard drive

OK, so after a long conversation with the hp support I know that my drive is out on my envy touchsmart can anyone understand what hard drive I need because I know it will be cheaper to pay 200 hp and a week of waiting. Model #4 - 1115dx 500 GB

    Here is the Manual:

See page 46 for hard drive replacement. This one is a little harder than normal, but still doable. For the replacement of the hard disk; you have a slow hard drive 5400 RPM and here's your chance to it a little punch. You can get a mechanical 7200 rpm or drive hybrid; You can add a cache drive 24 concert Accelerator WSSD. You can even install an SSD.

Here is a 7200 RPM disk:

This is a 250 GB SSD:

After the back if you want more suggestions.

You have the DVD player external usb? If this isn't the case, you will have to do a Windows 8 reinstall the USB key. You have access to another computer? I can link you to a download of a 64-bit Windows 8 .iso image and a program that will take this .iso and reconfigure on a USB key (minimum 4 concerts) for resettlement. You'll just have to get your drivers from this site and you will be ready to go. In how far gone is the existing drive? If you could pull the C:\swsetup folder out of the existing drive and store it you would have all the drivers and applications preloaded from your laptop.

  • Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6: need a new hard drive for the dv6-1230us

My question is about the HP Pavilion Entertainment dv6-1230us PC. Recently, it was abandoned, and since then it has been giving me the following message if poster every time it starts.

    Not found boot device

Please install an operating system on your hard drive.

    Hard Drisk (3F0)

    F2 System Diagnostics

"For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

I know it's important to run the hard drive test, but when I run the diagnostics of the system for the Test drive, it says:
    "HDD test failed.
    There is no hard drive.

I was also on the proposed site and even after "reset my BIOS to default", it recommends running the hard drive test, which does not simply because it has not really helped me the "there is no hard drive. There was a YouTube video that I came across thus suggested pulling the hard drive and diconnecting and reconnect to correct the error in this case that the son is detached, but that no longer works.

SO, I don't know if there is anything more that I can do, I guess that the hard drive is super dead.

It comes with a Seagate ATA hard drive. I was wondering if I could replace it with a SATA hard drive or should it be an ATA? (Even has the material capacity to support a SATA drive?)

Also, it is even useful to replace the hard drive? Should I get a new laptop instead? This laptop is used mainly for just browsing online and checking emails.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yes, the hard drive is so dead, that he not yet register as a hard drive. The dv6-1000 series certainly uses SATA, not ATA drives so I'm not sure of what you see. You can replace it with any drive SATA 2.5 inch width 9.5 mm thick.

Watch this video between: 53 and: 59 and see that it's a SATA drive. If yours is different, so you have confused with your model.

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=QQx7PlIXFuE

Hard disks are a small fraction of the cost of a laptop and if your what it takes to, I would say that to replace the hard drive rather than buy a new one.

It is an excellent drive at a great price:

  • B010ea Pavilion 23 all-in-in-one: info backup HARD drive.

Rather stupidly tried to update the BIOS on my pc after repeated failed installations of windows 10. It resulted in my powers pc and completely messy things now to the top but nothing else. I did this a while ago and have now replaced this pc with a similar model with windows installed 10. My request is that I would like to see if I can save all my files on the old pc by removing the HARD drive. I read that you can use enclosures of external drives, and with nothing to lose, I'd like to try but do not know what kind of thing do I need to buy. I don't want to spend a lot of money in case it is not good. As guessed you, I'm no computer expert but I would try this. All advice appreciated.

Without knowing exactly what HARD drive you have, here is an envelope similar to what you will need.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.  I don't know anything about the brand, so if find you one that you like best you should buy it.

where can I get a replacement of my HP G60-530US laptop hard drive.  It is not guaranteed in a few months. Where can I go to and I have search. There is determination on the original looking HD numbers.

    Hello

I see no reason why a hard drive 7200 RPM would not work.

I put SSDS in both my latops and have no issues.  An SSD was in need of a firmware update but otherwise no problem.

You can check the size of the hard disk to ensure than a standard notebook drive 2.5 "can hold in the hard drive caddy.

  • Need to order hard drive

I need a hard drive for HP Pavilion dv2620us and perhaps new OS disk

I can't get my recovery disk to work, I test a hard drive and it failed.

I had vista can it be upgraded to 7?

Why is it so difficult to find what you need on this site. I've been going round in circles

here for hours and I'm quite tired.

All I want is a drive hard and perhaps new drive. I wouldn't have to register and ask in a forum

How to find what I need.

    Sorry, frustrated

    Thank you

    Dave

Sorry for your frustration. Frankly, you don't want to buy the CD of HP hard drive... the cost will be much above retail. Any standard laptop 2.5 inch wide SATA hard drive to work. I don't know where you are located, but assuming that it is in the United States, Frys and Best Buy sell them, and you can buy online at newegg.com or tigerdirect.com, among others. If you live elsewhere post back and we can help you find a source. This is a good drive from newegg:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822145455

You want a 7200 RPM drive at least, if it isn't a hybrid drive or even an SSD, but the cost increases with each step upward. If 320 gig is too small there are more fat. When you remove the old disk be sure to save the plastic connector piece that goes on the pins SATA to be reused.

You can learn in get a disc of recovery here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/bph07143

There is a possibility to make a recovery disk, while the computer was working, and apparently you did that. These discs should work with a good hard drive, but if not you can order a factory HP above disc for fairly inexpensively. You are right that the recovery disc will be Vista and that it will be a few outdated software. You would be better with an installation of Windows 7 or even Windows 8. Your computer may operate either.

Post back if you need help most.
