  DVD writers usually come in two varieties, IDE usually designates those intended for 'slimline' and Office Tower systems which are generally mounted in laptops.

Could someone tell me which drive is compatible with the model number and where I can get hold of one? Can I get a Toshiba direct?   I really don't think not someone will be able to give you information about the ASIO compatibility, but I see no problem, that is if you want to use the external device. Card internal sound, you can disable it in Device Manager.

  Hmm. 120 GB HARD DRIVE? I don t think so. But this is only my personal opinion.
  To my knowledge, the Pro 2100 was equipped with 30 GB HARD drive.

  I think that the 60GB is a realistic size and could be seen by the BIOS.

  In any case, I didn't find any official Toshiba information support max sizes of HARD drive and I imagine that you must test the HARD drive.

  Just do a fresh install of XP on a Satellite Pro A40 of second hand.   I found the info that for your laptop model there are two types of battery only:
  PA3356U-3BAS
  PA3356U-3BRS

  So if you use Google and put these numbers, you should be able to find an online store where you can buy these compatible batteries.
  By the way: link you posted is OK and I don't see the reason why you shouldn't order of it. It is listed as compatible.

  To extend the life, you need battery with more cells and ability, but it is unfortunately not available for your laptop model.
