Need space to install Windows 7? I've got room, I don't?

I am trying to install Windows 7 on Vista laptop for my daughter.

The hard disk is partitioned into a C drive:

79.6 GB used

69.3 GB free

and the D drive is partitioned as

24.6 MB used

6.38 MB of free space

When I try to upgrade I get the following error

There is not enough free space on the D: partition. A total of 15 megabytes of free space is required.

When I look at the drive D with Windows Explorer it shows only 1 file called Bootsect.bak and he is 8 KB.

What occupies the rest of the space?

How can I enlarge Partition D so that I can install Windows 7?

Rex

Do not install Windows 7 on the D: drive - which is the recovery disk and is not big enough for Windows 7. It is best if you keep the D: drive is - don't mess with it unless it is intended to prevent the installation of Windows 7. Restore the disk files should be hidden if you do not see them.

Install Windows 7 on drive C:. Sometimes, the program made the mistake to recommend the D: drive. Your C: drive drive has sufficient space for the installation of Windows 7, but if you make a room upgrade you may need to free up space.

Windows 7 requires about 20 GB of free space for installation with a clean install, and even more if you make a way to upgrade. If you have a lot of music and/or videos you can transfer it to an external storage device during the upgrade.

I would try a Setup offline first before try something else.

Somewhere during the download of WLE part, I have a suspicion

  • need to re - install windows 7 on the laptop (Dell)

bought a laptop from pc world, need to re - install windows 7 no drive but a product code

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

  • Satellite A500-1GH - need drivers after installing Windows

    Hi all

I am facing a strange problem when I am trying to format my laptop.

I boot from dvd press the option to install windows 7 and then I get the following error message:

"Required the reader driver CD/DVD is missinjg. If you have a driver disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

"Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can remove safely for this step.

Start with a search on the net, I discovered that the more possible case is that the OS needs the driver HARD drive controller to continue.
Assuming that this was the case, I downloaded from the support page, the following drivers:

    Storage Manager
    Chipset utility
    Intel Management Engine Interface and
    Intel Matrix Storage Management Utility

After that, I extracted the executable files of the specified packages files on my USB flash drive and inserted in my Toshiba Sattelite but once again, he can not find the correct driver and displays the message:

"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK. »

Am I missing a driver or what? All the world is facing this problem?

    Hello

Win 7 drivers are not yet published for this model of laptop.
You must wait until all the drivers for Win 7 come out

  • Need help with installing Windows XP on Satellite A60

I have toshiba satellite A60 and I need to know the steps for reformatting the hard drive and installing Windows XP. What do need me and how?

also... How can I save all the files and email on Microsoft outlook? I'm not well experienced with this.

    Hello

the XP installation is very simple. Just put the CD in and to start the installation, the installation wizard will guide you through the entire process. A little advice: when it comes to partition the disk, delete the old partition, create a new and format it in ntfs. Don t worry, the installation wizard will guide you very detailed hollow that deal so it's going to go very easily.

    Regarding your backup:

It's my way of backing up my files:
I have an external USB-drive HARD drive and I put all my files on it, so I can copy them back after that I have put in a new system. To save your outlook, you can visit this site:

    http://www.sitedeveloper.WS/tutorials/Outlook.htm

They describe very well how you back up outlook.

    Good luck

  • Need help with installing Windows 7 32 bit / 64 bit editions

I have a laptop that originally had Windows 7 home premium 32 bit oem installed on it, I have subsequently upgraded to windows Ultimate edition through update at any time.

The laptop is retired and I want to install Windows 7 on my new PC but to install the 64-bit versions, but do not have them.

My question is, should I buy a new copy of windows 764 bit home premium. It is also possible to apply my series of Win7 Ultimate upgrade to an another Windows Installer or it will be related to my original OS install and only the 32-bit version?

    I hope someone can help

I have a laptop that originally had Windows 7 home premium 32 bit oem installed on it, I have subsequently upgraded to windows Ultimate edition through update at any time.

The laptop is retired and I want to install Windows 7 on my new PC but to install the 64-bit versions, but do not have them.

My question is, should I buy a new copy of windows 764 bit home premium.

No, as long as you have a disc of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, you can use the same product key that was used to activate the copy of 32-bit, you had installed.

It is also possible to apply my series of Win7 Ultimate upgrade to an another Windows Installer or it will be related to my original OS install and only the 32-bit version?

If the Express upgrade is planned for the Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate upgrade, this computer must also run Home Premium.

You will need to use the phone for both activation:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

I do not have 64-bit Windows 7 Home premium, just a 32-bit version OEM

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

  • ACHI need driver to install windows XP on 8560p

    Hello

Can someone please me with the right drivers to install windows XP in AHCI Mode?

I've been busy for 2 days to try al the drivers that I can find, but none of them worked. They always end up in a blue screen.

    HP Elitebook 8560p

    Productnr: LG732ET #ABH

According to cpu - z, the chipset is Intel's QM67.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

The book tells you to install the Intel(r) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller.

Normally, the best thing to do before installing XP, is for looking at your AHCI controller in Windows 7 to see what name it is. Then you can easily get the good ACHI driver for it.

So, if you still have your OS installed W7, or can pick it up and do the above, you can download the latest intel ACHI driver and choose the one you need.

Download the latest drivers from Intel's CCIS on the site below:

    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&DwnldID=19599&ProdId=3172&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20XP * & DownloadType = drivers

Another method of installing XP, would be to go into the BIOS of your laptop and, normally, in the device settings menu, change your SATA Native Mode or in disabled SATA or IDE emulation Mode. I can't find any info on the menus of setting BIOS 8560 except some information very general.

Then you should be able to load XP and install the SATA ACHI drivers afterwards.

You can read how to install later by reading this guide. Use the Intel download above, however.

  • Need help to install Windows 8.1 on the partition, bootcamp on Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 w / no optical drive"

I tried for almost a week in all possible ways to get windows installed on a boot camp partition on my main SSD 1 TB drive as a partition, or on my HARD drive, which is installed in place of the optical drive.  So far, everything I tried to give me some sort of error at some point in the process.  It seems that many of them are case by case, so I thought that I invite you all and see if you can help!

I use a Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 that I improved with a 1 TB SSD drive as the startup disk.  My optical drive was not functional, so I moved my old 500 GB HARD drive to the location of the optical Bay.  I am also under the latest version of El Capitan (10.11.6)
    Here are my system specs:

    Presentation of the material:

    Model name: MacBook Pro

    Model identifier: MacBookPro6, 2

    Processor name: Intel Core i7

    Processor speed: 2.8 GHz

    Number of processors: 1

    Total number of cores: 2

(By heart) L2 Cache: 256 KB

    L3 Cache: 4 MB

    Memory: 8 GB

Processor speed of interconnection: 4.8 GT/s

    Boot ROM version: MBP61.0057.B11

Version of the SCM (System): 1.58f17

What I tried (from what I remember):

I tried to change the Bootcamp info.plist file for my version of the macbook pro to use a USB stick for the installer.  It seems to have installed correctly but once I partition the disk and restart the computer, it gets stuck on a white screen with the Apple logo and I am forced to make a hard stop and then hold down option to boot into OS X, recovery, or the EFI Boot.

If I go through the windows installation to start the EFI system, I get an error of:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk.  The selected disk is a MBR partition table.  On EFI systems, Windows cannot be installed on GPT disks. »

I also tried to create a partition by using disk utility, and that too made me an error in the installation of windows.

So far, the only way that I'm away from windows to run at all has been using the free trial of VMware Fusion 8... but I intend to use windows for more intensive tasks like audio pro, and merger simply does not offer the performance necessary to run these programs.  I'm hoping to install windows 8.1 on my internal SSD or HARD drive, regardless of the work - as long as OS X and files associated with it are left alone.

If someone could help me please understand this point, I would really appreciate it!

    Thank you

If your computer has an optical drive, you must use the optical drive to install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant.

  • Need help with installing Windows

I recently did a full format my computer and re-installed Windows software.  I can't access the internet then I downloaded the drivers and my flash drive to move them to the computer, that I corrected.  Now internet will not work. It was my first time trying this and I want to just make sure I did everything right.  I do not have the recovery discs and HP does not provide them to my computer as they said that the computer was obsolete.  I'm running an HP Pavilion a310e series.  Help, please.

If you have problems with the integrated ethernet controller, you must download and install the chipset drivers nForce2 for any operating system you have installed on the PC.

    Specifications of the motherboard you:

To download and install the driver, go to the section of downloads from nVidia, gnaw legacy and nForce 1/2, select your operating system.

  • You will need to re - install windows xp home edition after hardware failure.

    Hello

I have an old e-machines computer desk (T1842) I bought nine years ago. It comes preinstalled with microsoft windows xp home edition, there is little time, we had a power surge in our House because of an act of God. I didn't throw this computer, so I bought a new power supply and a new motherboard for my computer running again. This is where my problem occurs, the hard drive on this computer became corrupt, and I have to re - install the operating system on it. The only software that has been arranged for me at time of purchase was a two disc set of what e machines calls "recovery disc". I tried to use these disk to get my computer running again, but there seems to be a hardware conflict now because I had to replace the motherboard, etc... What can I do to get my computer working again, of course, I still have the certificate of authenticity of microsoft / label the product key provided on the back of my computer at the time of the purchase, but the product key does not seem to help me solve this problem. I do not want to get my computer working again, it would be nice if I could get a new disk of software that would be compatible with this new motherboard, etc.. Can someone help me please?

    Thank you

    David

FWIW... The motherboard came with a driver disk? If you use the recovery disk, I don't think you will be able to re - install windows from scratch. Even if you could you would have problems with the product key code, since the code you have is registered to the old mobo. You can click on the link below and follow the instructions to create a Utlity Cd, allowing you to recover your data on the hard drive. It is also full other little tools that will be useful.
