What version of XP, including the service pack is installed?

Have you looked into your Linksys software options to ensure that there is no adjustment it enable WZC?

Open the properties of your wireless adapter, click the wireless networks tab and ensure that the box to "use Windows to configure my wireless" is not checked.

You can identify what you are doing or is happening which is connected with WZC automatic return?  Is it really as random as being OK for 1 or 2 reboots and then return to automatic?

  • Wireless zero configuration service does not properly

    OK, here's what I did:

1A started with a fresh install of windows xp pro sp3

2 installed EDIMAX usb wireless adapter

3 downloaded all the critical updates available for the operating system

4 installed several other pieces of hardware, microsoft office, Photoshop, Avast antivirus, etc..

At different points along the way, the restore points were made.

Everything was hunky dory until the very last point to install a HP printer....

On his return from a restart of the system, cannot connect wireless adapter.

The window that lists the wireless connections available indicates that windows cannot configure the connections because some other wireless software apparently resumed its function.

He said that if I wanted to have windows set it up for me, I could restart it from services.msc.  When I arrived, I found the wireless configuration service was set to automatic, however she didn't start.

I then resumed, after started what it remained only for the rest of the session.  When the computer has been restarted, he returned to the same State as before.

I then tried all available system restore points, which could NOT be restored.

I tried to uninstall the faulty printer drivers and software, which also did not fix the problem.

In desperation, tried a Microsoft Fixit applet which is supposed to be a disable half dozen services known to cause this problem, but as far as I could tell, they have never been installed on this machine.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can resstore this system to work properly?

Number 1 (WPS2.0 HW PBC Service) is a service of Edimax associated your Edimax wifi card

Number 2 (Wired AutoConfig) is the built-in Windows service that is used with your wired (Ethernet) network card.  She appeared in XP service pack 3.

    Number 3 (Wireless Zero Configuration)
is the integrated service of Windows that configures your wireless adapter.  You can have only one service running to configure your wireless network card: is WZC or Edimax service.

"WPS" stands for "WiFi Protected Setup" and "PBC" is the term of Edimax for "Press the Configuration button."  These two relate to a method of security configuration of wireless networks that has been designed to allow 'users at home who know little of wireless security and may be intimidated by the available security options' to set the security on their wireless networks.  Unfortunately, WPS has found to have security holes (click the link to the Wikipedia article for more details).

In any case you don't need number 1, especially once your network has been configured with appropriate encryption.  As to why install a HP printer might have caused the problem, I can only speculate: is your printer a wireless printer?  If so, he may very well have included the version of HP of WPS... who have somehow damaged the Edimax installation.

  • Wireless zero configuration

I am running XP and I have a router Netgear 600 new. Using the directions on the Netgear site to connect using Wireless Zero COnfiguration I had until told to right click on the local connection properties and open the wireless networks tab. The photo online of the window displays three tabs... General, wireless networks and advanced. When my screen window opens, there are only two tabs, general and advanced.

This has worked in the past on this computer, I so was surprised to see that it is is not an option. Any advice?

Your wireless zero service is probably disabled. Run the Netgear configuration utility and search for the configuration parameter use Windows (Wireless Zero) and select it.

Restart the PC and you should able to follow on the Netgear site intrsuctions able.

  • Where is my Wireless Zero Configuration?

I've been running Vista/64 with my USB Linksys adapter for a couple of years now.  Icon in my tray and the utility connection he mentioned were the Linksys software, which is configured to run at startup.

So, I read somewhere that Windows Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) might be the best way to control my wireless connection, and as EVER it the Windows and utilities equipment supplier will take place at the same time.

I searched WZC but could not find in the list services.msc anywhere.  "What the heck," I said to myself, "he should be there if it runs or not."

Defying the wind I disabled the software of Linksys wireless controller so that it does not start when the computer does.  When I rebooted the computer, I have searched WZC, thinking it would start by itself, but could not find it.  BUT... I had a solid link with my router and full Internet connectivity.  It comes without WZC or Linksys utilities running.

What is controlling my USB adapter?  I miss the icon in the status bar because I won't be able to tell when my connection is down.  Windows is supposed to provide that bit the image of a computer with its flashing screen, or maybe a red X across it when there is no connection.  Can I bring Wireless Zero widows somehow?   Thank you!

    Hello

Win 7 has the ability to customize the icons of the TrayBar, look for; It could be that the icon is hidden.

Right-click on an empty space on the main bar, click Properties, look at the taskbar tab, click on the Notification area customize.  If the wireless icon is there, pull down the behavior and configure to show icon and Notifications.

I'm getting an error Microsoft Window XP - D5SJG5K1.

The INSPIRON laptop uses the DELL Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini Card.

    Please help, thanks,

    Joseph

This problem occurs for several reasons. Some computers and hardware manufacturers provide their own configuration software that replaces the service provided in Windows Wireless Auto Configuration. In this case, you must use the software that is provided by the manufacturer to set up your wireless network. If you want to use the wireless network Setup Wizard or the viewavailable wireless networks to configure your wireless device, see the documentation provided with your computer or with your wireless network card. Use this documentation to determine whether you can use the service of Wireless Auto Configuration to configure your wireless network. Sometimes, you cannot use the Windows features.

If your computer or your wireless network card came with its own wireless network software, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type ncpa.cpl and clickOK.
    2. Click on network connections.
    3. In network connections, select your wireless connection, and then clickchange settings of this connection.
    4. On the wireless networks tab, click to select the Use Windows to configure my wireless network checkbox.

To start the automatic Wireless Configuration service, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc/s, and then clickOK.
    2. Double-click Wireless Zero Configuration.
    3. In the list of Startup type , click Automatic, and then clickapply.
    4. In the Service status area, click Start, and then clickOK.
