Need to replace Vista drive

I have windows vista basic key on my computer compaq laptop

I want the botable operating system

HP/Compaq has provided you a method to create physical recovery disks in case the hard drive needs to be replaced or the factory restore image is somewhat damaged. Look in your start > all programs Menu of the utility. If you have not created physical disks and/or damaged recovery the recovery image and now need to restore factory, contact HP technical support to order a set recovery disk. It is normally very expensive, around $20-25.

If you want just a bootable Vista (not a complete OS install DVD) repair disk, youcan make a bootable DVD to repair Vista from the file at this link:

http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent asmuTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. You will need to use third-party burning software such as Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com ) to burn the image .iso image file, not in the form of data.

With the HP/Compaq computers, it is always better to use the recovery discs to restore your computer if you plant. However, if for some reason, you want a full Vista installation DVD, you will need to purchase a. You can probably still buy Vista at Amazon.com or Newegg.com.

  • 5530 Evvy replaced printer - need to replace the driver and software?

    Hello

Recently, I had to feel my 5530 all-in-One printer replaced while it was still under warranty. The replacement came with new driver software and everything, but since it is the same model that I decided not to install it and use the existing driver installed on computers instead. (Replacement not be come with directions for uninstall, said by the way.)

The new printer is connected to the wireless network (using touch screen) and is recognized by computers on the network, but I can't get anything to print, since the existing driver HP software does not seem to 'find' the printer. Do I still need to uninstall the driver and reinstall? And what about the other programs installed with HP printer?

The computers are all Windows 7 64 bit.  I'm not very technical, so it makes me a little nervous.

Thanks for any help you can give.

You will need to reinstall your programs and drivers for other devices, you cannot be transferred.

You can recover your data by installing the hard disk in a 3.5 external USB box and copy your files. Connect it to your computer then take possession of the files in your account folder in the directory of the user on the old disk.

I have urgent need to replace the SAMSUNG HM500JI ATA disk in my Studio 1555 laptop.

The diagnosis of 'My Dell' tells me that a hard disk failure is imminent.

Can anyone recommend a reliable alternative to the HM500JI that will work with my 1555?

    I went for a Toshiba MQ01ABD050.

Change the disks in place was simple: I followed the video of PartsPeople (?) on YouTube.

  • Need to replace hard drive fault but I RnR records

The hard drive has begun to fail on my brand-new T500 with WIn7 Pro pre-installed. I don't have time to create discs of RnR. Support of Lenovo said they are ready to ship a new hard drive, but there is a problem getting the RnR disks set up with the drive for me. When the player started to fail, I tried to create a DVD of RnR, but it seemed to go nowhere.  I got 1 DVD created what I was told to the "Final SP" label. What is c?  There is next to no information available describing the process, but I want to take another crack at it in case there is a significant delay in Lenovo replace my drive and providing records of RnR.  No idea how long it should take and how many DVDs? Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Ok. I took another look and I think I've found that I have to create the rescue disks... I don't know how I missed the first time around.  I'll give it a shot.

    Hello

I see no reason why a hard drive 7200 RPM would not work.

I put SSDS in both my latops and have no issues.  An SSD was in need of a firmware update but otherwise no problem.

You can check the size of the hard disk to ensure than a standard notebook drive 2.5 "can hold in the hard drive caddy.

  • Need to reinstall Windows 7 due to the hard failure but needing a replacement disk drive

I have a DELL N5010(no longer under warranty) and had to replace the hard drive to the 2nd time, whenever an attempt to install 64 bit Windows 7 - error code disc is displayed. My computer thinks that the disc is damaged.  Am I eligible for a replacement disk? If so, from whom MS or DELL? If this is not an upgrade disk will be enough?

You need to contact Dell for a replacement recovery disc. A upgrade disc won't work, as you would a new OEM installation with OEM key.

  • Need to replace the drive but not allowing OpenManage not not fault reader must be set to 'offline '.

    Hello

We hope a quick and easy solution to what I'm procrastinating at the moment.

Have a server Poweredge 1800 (PERC 4/SC, RAID5) and got a failure on one of the SCSI drives. It's hot and we got the replacement.

However, OpenManage is not let me put the failed drive to 'offline' so that I can share. I'll choose the option offline in the menu drop down and when running it just empty screens (see photo). Is this a symptom of something not quite right? No problem with other options (blink/unblink).

If not can I just start in the PERC menu, set the active player in offline mode, swap, set the new drive to rebuild from there?

Seems to be a split view when I look at other similar questions on other threads in forum, for example, some say that you should just pull the drive and Exchange even without putting off line first.

    Thank you

    Alex

    Alex,

It is possible that you are using an older version of the OMSA or that the controller is out of date.

With the drive is not going offline. What you can do is to the server once it is off, then remove the disc. Powered with nothing in this niche, the table should show that degraded. Insert the replacement drive and it should start to rebuild.

Let me know how it goes.

  • You will need to replace the drive hard, etc.

    Thanks, Hüffer

Since I was 99% plug-and-play, which means when he says 'naked reader? My expectations are to connect the new disk, run the recovery disks, run my backup files and go from there. It is much more difficult than that?

Furthermore, what about updates since I generated recovery discs?

    Mr. Donovan

You should kick him out on the original thread so that people can see it and understand where we have been.

Yes it's Plug and play at the level of the material... Plug the drive and use it, but it just means that the system detects the drive as material. You still have prep. it and load it with software, but the recovery disc that does for you. If you have used HP Backup and Recovery Manager, you will get a software to factory installation (or maybe a simple OS with the drivers if you have a newer version of the software and chose this option for backup). It's like a time machine, so you have to go back to the future by running Windows Update and reinstall all software non - OEM and then that update (e.g. MS Office) and then migrate your old files on. It's a good afternoon, turned in the tuckus but better that lose everything.

  • How to replace a drive to an Alienware Aurora ALX with 2x1To R1 discs

    Hello.

I have an Aurora ALX with two 2 1 TB HHD in Raid 1 and I need to replace a drive for a new.

Could you please let me know what is the procedure? I installed Intel Raid Manager. It is supposed to automatically rebuild sets after I installed the drive and starting the PC, but I want to be sure, that it is the correct procedure to to rebiuld Raid group.

Please let me know if you need any additional info.

    Thank you.

Assuming that your computer is currently operating in RAID 1 with an array degraded due to a faulty disk, replace the defective drive with a good drive at least as large as the original drive system will be automatically rebuild the RAID 1.  It's the usual approach; You should not need to take special measures to rebuild the table.

  • Need to replace the hard drive, Vista can be reinstalled with a different copy, then what came with the PC?

A friends Vista Home Premium PC is in a horrible State - chkdsk repairs tons of "bad sectors".

If I get a new hard drive, can I use my CD of 'Upgrade' from Vista Home Premium to re - install the Vista, using its product key?

If this isn't the case - what other options can I?

    * original title - I need to reinstall vista - can I use my 'upgrade' with other people product code drive *.

No, you can't. Its product key is OEM and linked to the Windows that is installed on the computer. Your option is to buy a new Windows software.

  • Licensing issue? I need to replace the default motherboard with a 'Detail' education Vista Ultimate Upgrade on top of XP "OEM." Can legitimately transfer my license everywhere and how?

I am currently a computer on which I already installed XP OEM and upgraded to the edition upgrade Vista Ultimate retailers through the ultimate steal Microsoft.

    [Reminder]

The problem I have is that I've recently updated my graphics card to a card of Nvidia 7300GS card Nvidia GT240 on which my motherboard was properly assessed. However, due to some unfortunate circumstances (I dunno if it's associated graphics or an electrical surge problem, I suspect the latter as the card is fine) my PCI Express slot is fried! This resulted in the motherboard being unable to start any card in the PCI Express slot and gives a series of BIOS beep error codes. I even dug my old graphics (7300GS) and he was still unable to boot. Accordingly, I need to replace the motherboard for the PCI Express slot works if I use a graphics card.

    [Problem]

Since the license Vista Retail Upgrade that I use currently is the edition of 'detail', can I simply change my motherboard everything and turn it back on, or is it more complex because it is installed on the high XP OEM that is bound to the default motherboard? What are my options?

I have to buy another XP OEM license and reinstall everything from scratch? What happens if I didn't reinstall and just changed the motherboard and drivers updated my current installation? Is - is this legitimate?

As I understand it, the Windows for OEM license allows a person replace a motherboard of 'default' (GA-M55plus-S3G in my case) for a replacement under certain conditions, mainly as for everything. Am I entitled to it? If so, what motherboard would be I can replace by although it is considered an upgrade? I have in mind an ASUS M4A78L-M as it is cheap and comes with connectors female jack audio 8 channels on the backplate was on my old motherboard.

My main confusion is to know what license applies to me because of the upgrade process, retail of Vista or XP OEM? Upgrades medium I improve my driver's license?

I would like to solve this problem without canceling my licenst but just don't know how?

Thank you very much for any help or advice.

  • need recovery osx, after replacing hard drive

replaced the hard drive in our mid 2009 Macbook pro.   Bustbuy said we have just led connect our external hard drive that we used with time machine, but mac is not initialized.  We have a disc of snow leopard, but were running mountain lion. can we reboot with snow lepard floppy then redownload mountain lion or will be this goof things up?

Your Mac is too old to use the Internet version of recovery and steady recovery was on the disk that you took.

You will need to install your drive 10.6 snow leopard, upgrade with software update until you run 10.6.8 and only THEN the Mac App Store will appear and you can re - download and re - install any system (10.7 or higher) you are running. Your 'Purchases' page allows you to download again.

    --------

I would just add that they are SCUM does not start the installation for you in the store when it would be very easy for you and get you through these hoops. The Apple Store generally won't do that - they will make sure that you got your re - install before you leave the store, except if you decided not to do it here. And the Apple Store Wi - Fi is really fast and downloads are buffered on the computer store in the back.

It is can get the key to Toshiba/Microsoft giving them all my contact information or do I have to buty a new HARD drive and install a copy newly purchased Windows on? If Yes, then I'll put W7 on I guess.

Thanks in advance for any help I receive!

    > Problem is that I can't find my Windows key anywhere.
The preinstalled Windows operating system and the image that is placed on the Toshiba recovery disc were already activated and therefore the serial key is not necessary.
If you don t have the recovery disc, so you can buy this drive here:
    http://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

It s not expensive; 30 euros I guess.
