Need to retrieve my passwords saved from a non-working Firefox Add on to Firefox reinstall.
Old computer died. Hard drive should be ok. Goes to put the old HDD in new PC as a second drive. I would like to recover passwords saved to installing Firefox.
The path under Vista and 7 is:
\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ProfilesusernameC:\Users\
AppData is definitely a hidden folder, and the steps to the unhide on Windows 7 are: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wi.../show-hidden-files.

How can I migrate my Firefox, passwords saved from a Windows PC to another?
I can't locate the file of password encrypted to my new PC. Please indicate its location.
You need two files signons.sqlite and signons3.txt to transfer or save passwords.
Signons3.txt file stores the encryption key and the correct version of this file is required to be able to decipher passwords.See also:

Failed to retrieve the passwords saved backup Time Machine
Firefox 42 on OS X.
To make a long story short, I accidentally uninstalled Firefox and deleted ALL of its associated files and cache and profile and everything.
I use Time Machine, so don't panic. I have just re-installed Firefox and then copied all files from the most recent profile, before deleting saved on Time Machine in my new profile, and voila, all my bookmarks and modules returned.
BUT... The only thing that is not much matter what I try is saved passwords/login information - I tried several times before to copy the backed up versions of the file signons.sqlite and signons3.txt, reset my computer, etc., but no matter what, when I go into "Saved passwords" it is always empty.
I lose them forever? Is there something I can do?
It was very good work. Play well.

my e [mail is to have a viagra add attached to it and now someone sends e-mails in my name with this viagra even add, and I have not had my computer, so I guess I need to know how to change my password for my computer it's been hijacked somehow... people care about me]
Hi pdkbingo,
It is more than likely that your email account which is at fault and not on your PC. It is quite easy to 'spoof' an email so it seems that if it came from your email address when, in reality, it comes from someone else. I suggest change you your email provider, so changing your email address. If you are using groups of public discussion, facebook, twitter "are not" visualize your email address. Unscrupulous people help software 'bots' trawl newsgroups etc. for email addresses. It's a way to get loads of spam. If you post an email address in a newsgroup etc. then type something like * address email is removed from the privacy *. Of course, you will need to enter your 'real' email address when registering for the discussion groups, facebook, twitter etc but if your email address is not visible there cannot be "hijacked" as you say.

I had a major breakdown of the system on Windows 7 and had to completely restore my HD. When restored I lost TB. Successfully, I rebooted TB but have lost all my e.mails saved from 2013 as well as recorded from 2014.
The first e-mail now in my system is time that TB has been reloaded. Saved the e.mails are important and that's why I need to know how, if possible, to retrieve messages. If you had an IMAP e-mail account, then all your emails are stored on the server, so install Thunderbird and create the IMAP e-mail account to display folders and emails on the server.
If you had a POP e-mail account so all your emails have been stored on the computer and you should regularly create backups of your profile folder or at least created a backup of your profile (and any other documents / images etc. on your computer) before wiping the computer/reformatting and reinstalling OS. So, you can use the backup to reinstall the profile. If you have used MozBackup to create the *.psv file, and then reinstall MozBacktool and use it to restore the profile.
If you have not created a profile backup, but backed up/saved emails as recorded on an external device .eml files, you can use this addon to restore these .eml files to the new profile.

I would like to restore my passwords saved (only the passwords, any profile) to my laptop. Available, I have only a backup of my previous C: drive.
Claudia,
You must do the following:- Locate the backup of your previous profile. See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile - you will need to manually adjust the location of your backup, and shortcuts like %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto do not work (on Vista/7, %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto is defined as \AppData\Roaming C:\Users\username)
- Locate your new profile. See above, but here you can use the help-> troubleshooting information button
- Copy the following files from the old profile to the new profile with Firefox closed: signons3.txt, signons.sqlite

How can I retrieve e-mails deleted from the Inbox today instead of deleted folder
I want to retrieve emails that were in my Inbox. I deleted them by mistake instead of my deleted folder. Is this possible? I have emails before June 20 that I still have. It is each after that I am concerned
- You didn't say what email program you use. Wouldn't be Outlook Express?
- Unless you did a shift/delete, messages must be deleted.
- You have an Inbox.bak file in the Recycle Bin of Windows created no later than June 20?
If you use OE and messages are not in the deleted items and you do not have a BAK file created within the specific time period and you have not compacted your folders since the deletion, and you do not have a backup of your posts, then one of these tools can retrieve messages.
Macallan Outlook Express Extraction:
http://www.insideoe.com/resources/tools.htm#MacallanDBXtract:
http://www.oehelp.com/dbxtract/default.aspxIf you have compacted because the messages have been removed, then this is the only tool that has a chance to recover the messages.
DBXpress
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspxYou may need to run in the extract from disk Mode if its normal recovery mode fails to find lost messages.
