  • "Windows Media Center is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled"

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition and Windows Media Center gives me an error that reads "Windows Media Center is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled." When I try to install Windows Media Player from the Microsoft website I gives me an error saying I need to download "Update cumulative 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition". Once I have download, I get a different error message indicating that I have to download '.NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.2 SP1' before I can continue with the update for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I download that and received a message that is not a valid Win32 application. I can not understand what is happening or how to fix it. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling, but over the years, I lost track of the product key.  Does anyone know how can I fix? Thank you, in advance.

  • Netflix in Media Center does not work anymore

I am running Windows 7 Professional, and until yesterday had zero problems watch netflix via media center on my pc that I use as a HTPC.  I don't know what happened, but now I can watch Netflix in Media Center, or with a film from my browser to start.  It gives me the same error every time, a code error and said he had problems with signature and try closing and restarting the program.  However, he has no problem logging into my account and see my queue of the movies that he simply doesn't play anymore.  I tried to come back to Silverlight version 3 based on somehing I read elsewhere, but also reinstalled all the dependencies for Netflix and Internet TV in Media Center with no luck.  In addition, I did a system restore on the eve of problems, left with no luck.  Netflix said that this is a known Microsoft issue and they can't help with it?   I have confirmed that I can not connect and watch netflix on any other computer in my house is not my account network or netflix, only this HTPC.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Windows Media Center will not download updates to the Guide. Netflix and Internet TV options do not appear on the menu screen.

I tried to configure Media Center for Internet TV and Netflix. I have Setup several times and attempted to manually download the updates. So far, neither option appeared on the menu screen and I repeatedly received an error message when you try to download updates to the guide that directs me to check the update log. I find the event log, and that's what he said:

    * 10:44:58 - test of internet connection. 10:45:01 - established connection. 10:45:02 - directory of recovery. 10:45:03 - directory of recovery. 10:45:04 - directory of recovery. 10:45:05 - Directory of recovery.

Also, when I tried to contact support by email and has been asked to enter my product ID number to verify the activation, I was told it was not valid. I repeatedly entered it exactly as stated on the page of the system. I also activated the software certified on the same page of the system.

Any help would be appreciated because I would really like to be able to use these features.

    Thank you.

I had this same problem. That's what I did which appeared to fix (not sure if that fix or if it sets just itself). I ran the mcupdate.exe file located in the C:\windows\ehome\ directory (or some windows player is on). Yet once again, I'm not sure if this corrects the problem, or if it randomly determines.

  • Windows 7 Media Center will not download the new guide listings

    Hello

I am really frustrated. WMC will not download the new guide listings and I tried all the patches that are supposed to be that I found in this forum. I also tried the system restore, which did not fix the problem. Obviously the problem is not affected by the restore program.

I was able to determine that there is some kind of corruption of the WMC files that Windows 7 can not solve (according to the event log).

I'm a bit exasperated at the tenacity of this problem. Y at - it a reliable fix or I need to reinstall Windows 7?

    Thank you

    Hello Long777,

You have the update for Windows Media Center installed?

    Click on the article below:

  • Media Center does not download information Guide - error during the processing of the data

Media Center displays an error saying I need to look at the log of update, but I can't find the update log. Try to download the Information Guide to hand does nothing.

Of your last log its connection and download the guide, so there is no connectivity problem as stated above.

Try clearing the guide and the tuner configuration data and set up once again and then check if the guide updates correctly:

    1. close Windows Media Center if it is open.

    2. go to Start , type services.msc in the search box and press ENTER.

    3. look for the following services and check the status field, if they are started and then right click on them and chose to Stop:

    ·         Windows Media Center Receiver Service

    ·         The Windows Media Center Scheduler service

4 open tasks now CTRL and SHIFT Manager, and then press the ESC key.

    5. click on the processes tab, then click on Show processes from all users .

    6. in the list, click the name of the Image to sort by name, and then look for the following:

    ·         ehmsas.exe

    ·         ehrecvr.exe

    ·         ehsched.exe

    ·         Ehshell.exe

    ·         ehtray.exe

    ·         mcGlidHost.exe

    7. in the case of imperfections, right click and choose end process.

    8. go to start, in the search box, type the following path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome

    9. find and delete the file mcepgX-X - X.db and X-mcepgX-X file

After that it's over, go through the configuration of the original tuner once again and check if the guide updates correctly.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520.  When turning on the computer the dell logo comes back, but windows never starts the screen just goes black.  I tried the repair of advanced boot option but I don't get the second screen described on the web site of Dell tech support, the screen goes black again.  Any ideas?

    Hello

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel
-Double click - Driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - device Manager - map - graph
then right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
is CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and END PROCESS on it.
then on the tab Applications - lower right - new task - the type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is
accessible by tapping F8 as you start several times.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all hotfix is usually a hit or miss
base. That there is no information on a black screen as there is just a blue screen
adds to the difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect.

    Hi Tim,.

Put the drive in another PC that you did before and back up your critical data. You can reformat the hard drive. Then reinstall the drive in your PC and set the SATA to IDE controller mode and save the setting. Reboot into bios and make sure that the resulting setting is saved.

Now, reboot and use your HP recovery disks to return your PC to a first day of factory condition.
