As I said, once I entered the login details and passwords, I am able to send and receive mail several times without the prompt that appears until I restart Windows Mail (WM).   I can't speculate on why it stopped working. But when you change your password, it doesn't change a single account (email address).  So if you connect to these other things with a different email address, they will not be changed.
