If you do not share with another PC or XBOX Media Center, then your file and media sharing must be turned off.

former title: network location settings. Discovery of NW. File sharing. public folder sharing. AVG 9.0 'tools' and network connections.
My Alltel Wireless device again set the network location. And continues to change my network settings for the discovery of NW to:, as well as file sharing for: file public and sharing: read-only. I have AVG Security 9.0 and under 'tools' and connections network shows several svchost with States reading service connections listening and unknown. I don't want no access to my computer and cannot find any computer consultants who can get this to stop. What can I do?
Hello1. the options apply automatically on?
2. have you made changes on the computer recently?
3. have you installed any Alltel Wireless application to manage network connections?4. What is the current network location type on? Is it home, work or public?Network discovery and file sharing settings depend on the network location. For examle, if you set the network as a public location it turn on file sharing. So I would ask you to turn all the parameters and then choose the type of network and check if the parameters change again.
Method 1.
I recommend you to check if the problem exists in clean boot. May be a third party application is causing these changes.
See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.Method 2.
Also check the settings under tools in AVG security suite. You may need to check with the help of AVG on it.
Or you can disable the antivirus software and check if that causes this behavior.
Temporarily disable the security software installed on the computer and check if the problem persists.
Disable the anti-virus software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
I hope this helps.Thank you, and in what concerns:

WIN8 - password file sharing does not turn off
all.
I just bought a win8.1 Tablet and have hit a problem with file sharing. Since yesterday the Tablet worked perfectly on my network and I transfer file between her and my PC without any problem. But now it will not work. I'm on a WiFi network.
When on my PC (Me - PC) attempts to connect to the Tablet (Me - Tab) via my computer/network it appears that error message from the device is inaccessible.
When on the Tablet, I go to my computer and then I can see Me - PC network. However when I try to connect it appears a connection window asks me to enter my username and password to connect. The PC doesn't have a user name or password to connect. I also noticed that this newspaper in the window trying to use a domain called "Me-tab."
My network doesn't use areas, all PC's are on a working group called simply at HOME.
The PC (Me - PC) is set up for the RECEPTION of working group.
The Tablet (Me - Tab) is put in place for the RECEPTION of working groupOn the two I put:
Network type is 'work' on the Win7 PC and 'private' in the Win8 tab
Discovery - Network SUITE
File sharing - SUITE
Public folder sharing - WE
a 128 bit encryption - SUITE
Password sharing - OFF
Let windows manage the homegroup connections - SUITEIt seems to be stuck on thinking, it's in a field called his own device name, is there a way to reset completely all network settings? I said the tablet to "forget" the wifi connection, rebooted and reconnected several times without result.
Can someone offer advice before turn me this table

Original title: problems of residential group after system recovery
I started a homegroup on my computer. I added another computer to the homegroup. Everything worked fine until I had to perform a system recovery on the laptop that I used to start the homegroup. I implemented the homegroup again, but I can't access the files on the other computer via Windows Media Player. I get an error message that says "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file may be in use, you won't have access to the computer on which the file is stored, or your proxy settings are may not be incorrect. "I can access all the music files via Windows Explorer. I have to start over with a new password? Can I just create a new homegroup? What other options do I have? You can provide any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What is a substitute for the migration assistant? I tried in vain for three hours to migrate files from a macbook pro to each other so that even if connected with the ethernet cable the computers never see each other.
You can connect otherwise? USB or FireWire or love at first sight? You can connect both machines and start the one you want to transfer to target disk mode. If your other machine is up and running with an account on it and you just want to move files, you can simply drag and drop the FRO the machine mounted TDM, or you can use the migration wizard.
Or, if the other machine still starts and runs, you can start both computers and connect to the same wifi network and share the hard drive like machines on the network. Access them in the finder on the new machine files and drag-and - drop, or use the wizard migration, on wifi.

Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file may be in use, you won't have access to the computer on which the file is stored, or your proxy settings are may not be incorrect.
I hope someone can help on Win 7 64 bit, music is taken on a disk usb2 external hard... I had no problem until today when the message in the title appeared next to each track, with a little red cross.
I already deleted database library as suggested by some of the forums, also disabled the media as a feature of Win 7, rebooted and then re-enabled it. I also disconnected externally and restarted that as well, I'm also the same mistake with a cd in the cd drive as well.
Can anyone help?

computer goes to sleep as soon as the ethernet cable is plugged in and don't wake up
When the ethernet cable is plugged into my pc, it immediately goes to sleep and don't wake up without a difficult start. As long as the cable is connected, the computer will not load windows, immediately go to sleep before my desktop appears. My laptop is connected wirelessly without any problems at all and when connected with a cable, no problem either. ISP says it's a pc no matter not a modem problem, there is a conflict, but they don't know where.
I am running windows Vista Home Basic, a cisco modem, do not know what model.
Any help would be appreciated.

and anything else necessary to restore network configuration/connection, Discovery Network and the printer file sharing within a group residential with different Windows versions (win 7 - x 64 - ult, XP pro sp3, XP Home, wireless devices). All ping each other perfectly, networked computers have access to internet through powerful router, each of them receives predefined IP from the dhcp server on the router automatically, but still can not see each other in a working group (it was fixed accurately on each machine). I also tried to createa join and sever a homegroup on win 7 and installed the responder LLTD Link Layer Topology Discovery () I would like to see finally a xp machine on network card (without access and not in 'network')
Advanced sharing options have the value recommended, firewall is disabled and uninstalled antivirus software.
However I access an XP machine fom the other and can access files of Win 7 on my IPad, but neither Win 7 see XP or vice-verse, and when I try in win 7 to access its own share files on himself through the 'network' says network error with the code «0x800704cf» "Convenience store" did not help.(permissions? group policy? bug registry? mediacenter? what else could have caused the problem?)
Everyone please, don't crowd in the topic suggestions to check all the above, I've done hundreds of times. Please understand that just post something here I asked can help thousands of people have their network problems sold due to tons of discussions related to this topic.
(Thanks in advance and sorry for my English, I'm from the Ukraine)

I wonder if LimeWire file-sharing software is better in any way than the embedded Windows XP Vista file sharing software &. They all work together? Are they all transfer/sharing Excel files?
Thank you!

How to download files to a public folder
Hi, I am trying to load a site on the server said that the files should be located in a public folder, I can see the folder on the remote site, but as soon as I have files before they just go to the remote site, how do I get the on this issue? If I put the public or any name in the directory of the host it says invalid file or without authorization, but if I leave it blank it will connect to the server
Help please!
If I put the public or any name in the host directory it says invalid file
You don't need to add "public_html" or any other name to the root of your website... your instuctions mean simply send you all your site files in this folder "public_html"... as apposed to tell... the folder 'cgi' or 'public_shtml '.
So just open the 'public_html' folder before you download one of your folders. As mentioned, get your host to help if this is your first time downloading.
Best wishes

Must not exceed the flashing orange light. have tried three ethernet cables to the Fios router. All thoughts
What extreme version do you have?
Test the cables connecting the airport to your Mac with them and see if the ethernet works on Mac. Green connectivity light should go... If it fails, then the AE died.
Please do a factory reset, then try again.
Sometimes Mac airport utility works well... If you have the preference or iphone ipad, download and use iOS version airport utility and try it for configuration... It is much less awkward.
