Network of Windows media sharing service player does not start - Vista and PS3

I am running Vista 32 bit Home Premium and trying to share my media to DLNA on my PS3 PC using Windows Media Sharing Service. UPnP is enabled. Network discovery is turned on. File sharing is enabled. Media sharing is turned on.

Whenever I visit Windows Media Player or try to change the setting of sharing media in network and sharing Center, there is the error message "media sharing is currently disabled, either because the sharing service is not running or your firewall settings have changed. To restart sharing, you must first confirm your settings.

During the deactivation and reactivation of sharing multimedia files, I never see PS3 on the list (not a single unknown device appears). Also I see no Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service on the list of Services - there is no way to toggle the service or do start automatically.

There are several user accounts on this PC and I made the changes on my admin account.

Tried a 3rd party software Java "PS3 Media Server" and makes my Vista computer show on PS3 without parameters or modifications to firewall. This suggests that the WIFI, router, network discovery and UPnP work. I prefer to use Windows services if I would only get their work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Windows 8 disc locked; It does not start at the home screen, will not auto repair and doesn't give me access to safe mode

Nightmare; perfectly working windows 7 64-bit configuration I upgraded (stupidly) to Windows 8 (it seems installing a 32-bit version for my troubles). I installed a driver for a having previously worked USB WiFi adapter (that is, it was working fine before the upgrade) and now it does not start. It says "irql less than equal", says his collection of information and restarts to a kind of repair mode, none of the options which work because he complains that the hard drive is locked. Any attempt to start in SafeMode (SHIFT + F8) fails, with mnode security options panel shows ever in service options. Really, a very incomplete piece of software - I should know better than to install version #1 what whatsoever.

Suggestions for moving forward? No, I don't have a record of victory 8 because I updated my installation of windows 7 perfectly work in updating online.

Simple repair that has worked for me.

If you have a windows install disc (if you borrow 1 from a friend)

run the disk at startup, press on f9 to choose cd rom as boot, press a key when it asks you,

Let the disc to the refreshment of startup repair section, choose Advanced & go to the command prompt and type.

    Bootrec.exe

    Bootrec/fixmbr

    Bootrec.exe/fixboot

    Bootrec.exe/RebuildBcd

When all this is over, it will show that your o/s and the reader don't worry if it shows as D instead of C, it is because the system resource use C at this point, it will ask you if you want to add this player to your startup type Y and your good to go, your old win 8 will draw upward as it did before spread the word.

  • After that update of windows 64 bit system Firefox does not start

I've updated to IE 10 and it should be updated to complete. My preference is Firefox, but it does not start and produces an error box telling me that Firefox could not start, it also sends you a report of failure.
It happened in a previous windows update and to reolve that I go back to an earlier era. I don't want to do that this time, I want to use 10 IE and Firefox. If you are unable to solve this I have to use IE 10, it is so much faster now.

Yes thanks - please start firefox in safe mode (by pressing the shift key, while it launches) and go to firefox > options > advanced > general & disable hardware acceleration.

First of all, you are mistaken when you say that the PC does not start.

This is clearly starting. The problem comes from Windows, not with the real PC. It's actually a very important distinction!

There are methods to repair Windows, but they can be a bit tedious. By all means, follow the advice given here to do if you're so inclined.

If you would not rather to repair Windows (and I think it's interesting a try) or your repair attempts are unsuccessful, apparently, you would need to use an external optical disc drive and follow the instructions here:

  • CD player does not start

I'm on Windows 10 for some time now and the drive still worked normally. Since a few days, it does not start. There is no error message. I click on the shortcut and nothing happens.
It is listed in the Task Manager, however. I tried repair and uninstall/install again. The last time a new installation has toured, but now it does not work.

    Hi matthenry79 ,

Try right click on the shortcut and select open.

Try running this cleanup tool to remove all the remains of the drive from the system and then try to install Reader.

Run this cleanup tool: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat tool - Adobe Labs . Restart the system and try installing from this link: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

  • Windows Update don't load/Windows Media Player does not start

On XP Home Edition SP3, the last week I not was able to get the Windows Update page to load.  There is no error message, IE8 seems to think that the loading of the page and there's code, but a blank white page in IE8. I discovered this problem after finding that Windows Media Player wouldn't start - again without error message.  I look in Task Manager, the wmplayer.exe process runs for a few seconds, then disappears.

I have run a number of analyses of malware using Avira Free edition (now uninstalled), Spybot S & D, MalwareBytes Antimalware, Windows Defender, and Microsoft Security Essentials with no result or change.

I reset IE8 to its default settings and now find that I can't choose a search engine or view other pages on the Microsoft support site, such as http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=assistance--il displays only the banner from the top on a white page. (I write this using Chrome).

Other posts on the forum about the update or Media Player starts does not seem to be on other versions of Windows, and I've not found anything about problems at a time.
