network printer problems

Hello everyone.

Can someone explain to me what is happening to our networks? Or a problem of Windows XP.

The situation is, we have about 30 computers in the office connected to a network.

Some computers have their own shared printer. And the rest will connect to those who have printers.

When a computer with a printer just completely started, other computers can print to it. Long term, the next time that we print once again, we cannot be able to print to the printer, either we is more connected to this computer. What I do is to restart the Windows XP Home / Professional. When a computer is started again, we can connect to this computer. Sometimes I restart the guest PC, a computer with no printer. Then, we can connect to it.

My problem is why this should be like that? Why we need to reboot the computers, or both in order to connect to the back and print again?

Thanks for your response.

Hi Wala Elhi,

-Are the computers in your office connected to any domain or server?

If so, you can contact the respective administrateu of system to solve this problem.

  • C6180A: Network printing problem series C6100

    Hello

I pray that someone here can help with my network C6180A impression of questions, as I am at a loss to know what to do. I'm technical enough for a layman (not irritable) so able to fix my printer problems, I had to do several times in recent months. However, I am now in a complete deadlock as to what to do next.

Implemented - laptop HP Pavilion (less than 1 year running Windows 8.1 64bits) connected by wired home network using Netgear HomePlugs, on which my C6180A All in One Photosmart printer is also connected by a Homeplug Netgear network around my house for others to use. The network software Netgear genius picks up the printer and it shows on the fine network. I can also access the IP address of the printer through my thin Firefox browser.

Printer C6180A is (I think) about 8 years ago and has been well used with over 44 K printed pages! It worked well overall until recently. Minor problems have been solved in the past, which I was able to do very well.

Until recently, the printer worked very well, so a few weeks ago (nothing has changed on it, or my laptop), it just started to stop printing and also started to enter spurious characters (always number 7) on the LED panel without doing me anything, as if someone was going to put in a fax number. It would show a string of 7 like this: '7777777777777777777' as a fax number alone.  Yet I did not or use the fax on it more. It's where I wondered about capacitors, as I mention below...

    However...

It will not print many pages at once of all today - even if I get it print OK. It does not go offline (it used to do this), just print job gets stuck in the queue and must be deleted using HP Print & Scan doctor. Nothing else removes the queue now. And no other problems are reported with this utility. If they are, then I have Setup or the utility corrects.

I did the following to get it fixed so far (with little success ongong):

-updated and install printer via the HP website drivers (most recent is dated December 6, 2015)

-uninstalled and reinstalled the driver software several times = sometimes a test page impressions, not always

-restart the laptop and printer each time I do this to clear no matter what cache

-Remove and add the device in Control Panel = got a few pages printed today this and nothing else then prints

-check the IP address of the printer to make sure that his recognized on the network = all fine here (IP address added manually in the settings of the network on the printer a few months ago), although I can't make it here anymore as the "ok button" on the printer does not work now (minor in question not related to this in my opinion)

-did a hard reset of the printer using the # and 6 to do this = it worked for a few pages then orders

-printer is always / recognized by any software, driver or utility HP PSD when turned on to be detected to install

-printer works fine when connected directly via a USB cable, but which is not what I want to do on a daily basis

-have contacted Netgear in the recent past to make sure that my HomePlugs on my network worked very well, they were. If not, then the printer would not be detected by any software installation or fixing with HP PSD

My last resort will be to check if the capacitors are down, I saw in other forums that this is a common problem after a while on these printers. Before making this "repair" I bought the capacitors, I wanted to check if there is anything else I missed that I can do to finally once and for all this problem of printing.

Help on this would be so MUCH appreciated by any expert here, because I lost so much time, days in fact, try to resolve this issue as you can only imagine. I have to be able to print for my business. It is not an option to replace the printer currently.

It worked fine until the last 3-4 weeks or more... Where my question detailed with what I did to fix it until now.

    Thanks in advance. ANIA

    Hello @AZS1,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand that you have a problem with your C6180A. I would like to help.

To be honest, you did some troubleshooting. To say that you are quite technical for a layman seems to be an understatement.

I provided you with a link to solve network problems. If the problem persists then you might as well go ahead with the repair. The only other option would be to have fix the printer.

  • Homegroup NETWORK printer problems

I have a windows 8, laptop 64 bit I connected to a windows 7, 32-bit computer desktop through a home network. When I try to print from the laptop to the printer connected to the desktop computer, it prints just a blank page. How can I fix it?

    Hi Gordon,.

    1. Applications that use to print?
    2. What is the brand and model of the printer?

It could be a problem with the drivers.

    Method 1:

Printers need software driver to work properly.

Make sure that the printer drivers are correct.

    Method 2:

You try to print a test page and check:

    (a) right click on the printer that you want to test, and then click Properties.

    (b) in general in the printer properties dialog box tab, click print a Test Page.

Please post back with the State of the question.

    2. How is the printer connected?  Is it connected to the computer in Windows 7 by USB or is a stand alone "network printer"?

  • Network Vista and XP - connection to the network printer problem

I try to print to a network printer connected to a vista from a computer xp machine

    Two computers on a network
Vista machine is connected through the ethernet card and has a connected printer
XP machine is via wireless network

Both machines have the same network name "mshome".
Open ports on the firewall and also left Software Firewall

When I print a job, I see it be wound on the info from the printer on both machines, but then, it is automatically deleted.

I am able to access the hard disks from two computers

The printer works this way, when you share a printer between XP and Vista where the printer is connected to Vista, XP will communicate with the printer and its drivers Vista.

So as I suspected it was due from pilots, in your case XP will be offered 64 bit readers which it does not recognize

If we rely on the printer connected to the Vista 64-bit operating system operating system 32-bit, we need to install the additional drivers (especially the XP must be with 32 bits, only 32 bits of the operating system will not show if it's 32-bit or 64-bit)

So in this case, you must right click on the printer on Vista and go to the sharing tab, and then click additional drivers, it will be the operating system and Version to select and you will need to select Windows XP x 86 and install the drivers

Now your Vista will be the 32-bit and 64-bit drivers installed. Now, when you share the printer, when the Contacts XP Vista, Vista has drivers and it will be able to share the printer correctly. Anish

  • HP LaserJet M4345 MFP: Network printer problem: cannot print, but can ping

    Good evening

I have a big problem. We have a network HP LaserJet M4345 MFP printer. It is connected to a switch and the switch is connected to a Modem of Telmex.  It has a static IP address. 5 computers to connect to this printer, but I'm going to use one as a sample.

The problem is that I can't print anything.

    • I can install the printer in all computers
    • I ping the printer
    • I can access the printer configuration using a browser
    • I can even scan a document

But I can still print the test page. We have a static IP and it does not repeat the IP address, the host name is unique and date everything is fine. I tried to ping to test for the default gateway and it a ping with a correct response time.  So:

    • The configuration of the printer can be accesed via browser
    • The computer can ping the printer
    • I can scan a document to the PC
    • The printer installs very quickly in all machines
    • The printer can ping the default gateway
    • The IP address and the host name are unique

What could be the problem? I tried to print in all the machines without success.

    Thank you for your attention.

It is possible that the network adapter has a problem but since it's your only work around would be to buy a direct jet EIO card and put in the EIO slot in the back near where the network cable is plugged.  They are fairly cheap on ebay and you want to buy a 610N, 615N or 620N one of these models will work.  You must assign an ip address that is different from the one assigned to the integrated card.  I think that there is a way to disable the built in network card, but I have to carry out additional research on that.  If you have an old hp printer that you do not use with a network card eio, even if older 600N it will work in this printer.

  • Windows XP + kyocera FS-720 + EPSON TM, network printing problem

Hi all, I am coneccted a Kyocera FS - 720 to compurter 'A' using a USB port, the impression here is ok. I have a second computer 'B' with an Epson thermal paralel set as printer by default, 'A' is the hollow network the Kyocera printer share.

If I have any software in 'B' printing default Kyocera open impression and send anything to print, printing!, but if I selected in 'B' the EPSON as the default printer, open any program (IE, Acrobat, etc.) one try to print to the printer Kyocera, the app crash and nearby.

If I select a different paper size in the config EPSON, A4, for example, a test print, once again works!, but using the paper as "Roll 80mmx270mm" size printing fails. I don't think that he is a pilot error or cause of error printer I print if I put it by default before you try to print, any suggestions?

  • 1163w network printer problem

    So, my first post, Hello!

I have a 1163w printer that works fine - except that it times out and decreases the network.  I have to physically restart the printer to run loose employment, which somewhat defeats the purpose of a wireless printer.  I went to the Manager printer and disabled the system timeout setting, but that did not help.

Anyone else has this problem and knows a fix?

    Thanks in advance.

If you are able to print successfully via Google Cloud Print, but could not otherwise print on the network, you must call Dell's Technical Support and ask for a replacement under warranty. There are lots of printers who had faulty firmware that has stopped listening on port 80 (web interface) and 9100 (RAW TCP/IP printing).

Reference Dell seems to have solved the problem of firmware with B1163W of their replacement printers.

  • Windows 7 network printer problem

Also I can not access the company Intranet for our system to SharePoint, do not know if the two problems are related?

  • Windows 7 network printing problems

I've upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista Home premium, the two versions are 32-bit. If you are using Vista and I tried to connect to the printer on my home network using a wireless network to a runing XP Home Office, I receive an error message that says: access denied. I get this same message using Windows 7. He sees the printer on the network but will not connect. If I connect the printer directly to the laptop, it works fine.

Your "Access denied" error indicates that you do not have file/printer sharing set up properly.

    Configure file sharing / print:

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, running on Windows 7 sharing files and printer as above will take care of this for you. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

    D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers.

How install a printer connected locally to a different computer if the driver installation routine does not help:

Go to the computer to which the printer is connected. Note the name of the computer that you will get to the control panel > system > computer name. Now in the Panel, go to the printers. Find the printer in question, right-click, and then click Properties. Note the name of the share. Of course you must have already set up file sharing / print on all computers involved and share the printer.

Now, go to the remote computer to which you want to add the printer. Control Panel > printers > add printer

Click Add a local printer. Click on create a new port. The default value in the drop-down list box is Local Port. Don't change that. Click Next. A dialog box appears for you request that you enter a port name. Type in the \\FullComputername\SharedPrintername

ex: \\mycomputer\HPDJ (that's why you wrote the names of computer and printer in the first step)

Click Next. In the manufacturers list, select the correct printer manufacturer and the correct printer model in the Printers list. Under "do you want to use this printer as default printer select"Yes"(if you do!). and click Next. When asked to print a test page, select 'Yes', then finish. • Installation of Konica Minolta C450 as network printer problem

I am just in the process of establishing a new office with small wireless network and printer. The printer is a Konica Minolta bizhub C450, which is connected to the netgear hub. I downloaded the driver for Konica Minolta bizhub C450 and installed and my laptop which is fully functional on the network shows the default printer. I have allowed sharing the printer and rebooted everything and renamed my computer. I can't print anything even a test page - can someone help please?

    Thank you

I agree with you that the C450 is difficult to implement... at least doesn't manuals make it easy.

You should not take the IP address configured on your computer different from the IP address set in the printer, but because you're in an office, get the person of office network to help is a good idea.

  • PLE400, PLW400 and WIFI Protected Setup network printer problems

    Hello

Well, I have a router Linksys EA4500 with the PLE400 and PLW400 wireless Extenders wireless installed in my house. I put extenders using the utility-Cisco Powerline AV following the directions (same keyword static, PLW400 password entered in) and has increased the range of my router effectively. However, since I installed the PLE400 and the PLW400 I can't get WIFI Protected Setup to work on any of my wireless printers. I have two wireless printers Brother HL-2270DW who stopped working when I installed the extension and cannot be connected to the router, since then I use the WIFI Protected Setup. What the devil?

I pressed the buttons to reset for 10 seconds on the PLE400 and the PLW400 and then set them to the top and still had the problem. Then I thought that maybe there are any available firmware updates. And there are so I updated the firmware on the PLE400 and the PLW400. Now, everything works fine. >.
