Network security key

I'm trying to change my network key and cannot me or the previously set password is always there, I tried to reset my router and still it need the default password and does not allow me to change the password. How could I solve this problem?

No luck... I think I need to keep up with her or may need to replace the router... However, I tried not to downgrade, since flashing himself did not help... I don't think that without decommissioning will help... maybe some ROM in the router is not on memory or reset the password... In any case this router works without any problem for more than 4years... I guess its time to change...

  • I can't find my NETWORK SECURITY KEY.

Why is - both diffitult to locate the NETWORK SECURITY KEY, so that I can use my printer on the network which is much safer to use WiFi.  The router shows all sorts of numbers, but none of them can be identified as a NETWORK SECURITY KEY.  Why is it so hard to find?  If it is not on the router what else I can do.  The router displays the NETWORK NAME, NETWORK PASSWORD, BUT this is the key to network security.  Why is this such a puzzle, and why not just the router shows the NETWORK SECURITY KEY?  Can someone help me with this?  Thank you.

The network security key is the password used by the network to authenticate access.

It is the pop-up window you see when you try to access a secure network.

It is not a number, it is a set of characters - and WiFi, they are associated with the SSID of the network you are trying to access.

On newer routers, there is usually a sticker (or a card that comes with the router) that contains the default SSID and password.

There is no way that we can find for you, because it is internal to your router.

  • where can I find my network security key

where can I find my network security key

    Hi, Rodolphe,.

It's the security of wireless encryption and it is located in the Security section of the configuration of your wireless router settings (even if it is probaby not displayed and requires that you know - a bit like a password).

Connect to your wireless router, check the configuration for the single SSID (your wireless connection name) and go to the section of security configuration to set security wireless to the router with a key (or to change the key, but you may need to know that to change to a new one - although you'll see below that I didn't need to know the old man) and if necessary (and it will) type the key to the laptop when the configuration that it connects to the router.  You will not be able to access this key if the computer after an entry - it's just to establish the ability to connect.  There is an empty space where the key was seized, but it converts the real key to a string of points, so it cannot be read.  If you change the key through the router, you can change the key through the computer by putting in new and once registered, it will work (but will return again to a chain, so you can not read or the other).

To configure the wireless router read his extended manual or go online and check on the site Web of the manufacturer, forums, and/or technical support.  I am not quite sure, but if you can connect to the router configuration pages, you can probably change the key and I do not know if you will need to know the old key to set a new or not - it may work or it may not it can vary depending on the router.  If your login details are forgotten, the router can be reset and reconfigured with the default settings - but you will need their help to do that besides the default settings usually use passwords and logins by default.  Many use admin or administrator as the default user and admin or administrator name or password as default password.  Once you have access, check where the key is set and see if you can change it without knowing the old key or how do them before you let them in off the line.  In some cases, your ISP's technical support group can help you with this if they know and support this particular router.

It is usually open your browser and where you would normally type an address (of course everything connected to the network), instead of typing 192.168.1.1 (or whatever your default gateway which is in such a situation the address for the wireless router).  If you do not know (and I've used just which is the most common failed) but can still access the network, and then click on start / all programs / accessories / right-click on command prompt and click Run as administrator then type IPCONFIG/all and enter and look for the wireless connection and the IP address of the router should be the default gateway (and often also the DNS server IP and the IP Address of the DHCP server as well).  Use whatever it says in your browser to try to access the router.  I just checked my (a Lynksys) and after that enter the IP address he gave me access after asking for a user name and password and, to my great surprise and you'll be happy to hear, when I went to the wireless security section, he showed me the security key (not a lot of points, but the actual key).

I hope this helps.  I know the procedure in the works of the previous paragraph for me, as I did just to confirm, but I'm not sure what you have equipment or if it will work the same or if you know the user name and password to access the router configuration or how the key is set or displayed.  Keep in mind that configure the computer for a wireless connection is typically more to just know the key but also to know the type of security used (for example the type of security and the encryption type and there may be many options for both and you don't want to be guessing).  If this isn't the case, then if the router is still under warranty I would try the router support for help.  If not, I would try the ISP technical support to aid first because he would be free, and they may be able to do.  They could also mess things up to the point where you have no choice but to communicate with the technical support of the router group and to be unable to connect until it is resolved (or try their Web site technical support options or the support forums (which once occurred to me, but I had the Bill sent to the ISP because they were responsible for ruining it and was surprised that I never heard to)) New from these companies).

    Good luck!

  • How can I find my "network security key?

    Hello world...

I am a netbook which is preloaded with windows 7 starter. My PC is 64-bit windows vista ultimate. I have an ADSL router that is connected to the computer with a network cable (yellow) - internet works fine.

I'm trying to connect my netbook to the wireless router, and the netbook from asking a "network security key.

Where exactly can I find it? I can't find that whatever this is named network security key to my router settings...

    Thank you very much!!

The wireless security key is in the settings of your router. See below for how to configure a wireless network in complete safety. It will also cover where you will find these settings.

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing.

  • How will I know my network security key?

I set up a wireless network at home from my parents about a year ago and have now forgotten the password to log on to the network. While my own laptop has recorded the necessary password and can access the Internet without problem, my son would like to log on to the network of his laptop that I need the network security key. • change (wifi) network security key

By chance, I entered the network security key (password) incorrect wifi, in a café, so I wasn't able to connect to secure wifi network of the café-restaurant.

I couldn't understand how to enter the correct network security key.  Whenever I tried to reconnect to wireless cafes, network protocol default W7 automatically to the security key incorrect that I had entered.

I can't understand how to navigate to a place where I am able to manually re-enter the correct network security key, or to clear the info, I entered accidentally, or to delete the wifi network and start over from scratch.

As I have never connected to the network in the first place, it does not appear on 'Manage wireless networks', and 'Diagnostics' does not offer a solution.

Had the issue on the shelf of my husband's job.  Much easier to understand this kind of things in office format.  Not wild about the format of the tiles.  Too difficult to know where to find stuff.  Haven't managed to finally find a way to find the right network, but I think that her husband has entered the wrong password.  Thanks for the help.

    Hi oms1957

I recommend you try these methods

    Method 1:

Reset the wireless network and make sure that you set the level of security to WPA2-Personal, as it is recommended.

Here are some links that will help you set up the wireless network

What are the different wireless network security methods?

    Method 2:

If this does not clear if installed third-party antivirus and then try to connect. If the problem is resolved, you have to uninstall the antivirus and reinstall back or check with the settings.

    Method 3:

Cycle power to the router and check if this is useful.
