Network share is protected...

How can I go about fixing this? I went to the sharing and there are no options for me to share with my network. All the answers?

Please and thank you

A configuration profile has been installed to allow access to a large network. If you have any more of this profile, you can delete it in the profiles system preferences pane. But you cannot share access to the network.

  • Disk utility can not create large image of drive (60 GB) on the network share

    Disc Utiity (Versie 15.0 (1511.3)):

I am creating a disc from a hard disk image. I want to save the image on a Synology DS414 network share.

The share is accessible a there is no active disk quota.

I copied a large file via Finder (384 MB) to the \\partagereseau that works.

When I try to record a copy of disk sharing (60 GB), I get the following message:

Unsatisfactory area is available on "(null)" to create the NAME of diskimage. Choose another volume with at least 60 GB of available space and continue.

Summary: I can create large files on the share, but the disc utilities cannot?

    Greetings Wim

384 MB is nowadays is no longer considered to be a file of "big."

You don't mention how much space is actually available on the Synology but for arguments sake, we will assume that more than 60 GB of space is available.

So in theory it should be possible to create a disk image of 60 GB (no doubt), there is enough space available. As you say there is no set of storage quotas and I'm happy to believe that. I think that the issue could be more to do with the maximum allowed size of the file, remember that I mentioned that 384 is actually not much, although some systems have a limit of 4 GB for a single file, for example FAT32 file systems have such a limit. In theory the FAT32 limit should not apply here because almost all including Synology NAS servers actually use Linux as the underlying software and so use Ext3 or Ext4 as file system, not FAT32. Same Ext2 a fortiori Ext3 or Ext4 allowing individuals will produce up to 2 TB of size which is clearly much larger than 60 GB.

Still it could be related to that question even if it is necessary as an unnecessary and artificial limit may be for example to ensure compatible with other systems using FAT32.

If you have enough space on the Mac, you could create and try to copy on the Synology, however another approach which is probably better all around is to create a "sparsebundle disk image. It's a disc image, but another type and will work around this problem because it is in fact made up of lots of all small files attached together. As that user do you see this as image a big drive, but the computer sees it as a folder full of files much smaller.

  • Unable to save pennies on network share

A user has problems recording on a share network as follows:

His iMac runs El Capitan. She opens a PDF of his email and stores them on the desktop. She manipulates using Adobe Acrobat and recorded on network. However, it is now to find that when she tries to do a save as on the network share, the button 'save' is grayed out. I tested with Microsoft Word as well, and the same problem occurs. Recently it started to happen.

If she copy and glue the documents from his office on the network share then there is no problem, and I told him to do this as a workaround for now. It seems to be no problem with its access to the drive that it maps without problem and she can open and manipulate documents from there. As a test, I tried this on her personal network drive and again the "Save" button is grayed out.

I suspect there is a simple resolution to this, but I was unable to reproduce the problem on my Mac Mini running El Capitan - I can't save slot for readers network without problem. I searched the forums but cannot see a solution.

  • Accessing a network share is reasonable in response, but in sharing folders are slow to react. Can it be accelerated?

When you browse a network share, \\LocalServer\Level1Share, with Explorer on an XP computer fully patched, the list of Level1Share has been quickly. • Why my network shares keep duplication in 'My Computer'? I have Y and Z mapped to 2 different actions. From one day to the next, I have B - Z mapped without my fault. What is going on?

Hello! I can't understand what this does to my computer. It seems that something is automatically re-mapping my mapped network shares. How can I even begin to solve this?

The last major change to my system were:
    1 - installed Norton Internet Security 2011 (anti-virus, etc.)
2 - decided to play with indexing in the Panel but I didn't not add Y and Z to the index. I didn't change the file types that are indexed using this tab in the window and check each type of file in there
3 installed MacDrive 8 so I could connect my Mac USB keys, etc. and use them locally on my PC
    Thanks in advance!

It was Norton Ghost. Norton Ghost tried to access a directory in one of the actions, but I had changed the location of this directory. He just started mapping and re-mapping the same actions over and over again. Weird! Then I opened the ghost, clicked in the menu Tools, then Options, then changed to something else by default backup destination. It's strange, but it does. I had not used this in over a year backup destination and have resorted to a ghost. Phantom decided not to change the backup destination by default, when I deleted my old backup job 'task' and made a new who had another destination of backup. Weird.

    Thanks for your good help.
  • Network shares are slow with Vista Business SP2

    Hello

I have Vista Enterprise 32-bit SP2 in a Hyper-V virtual machine.  I use an internal application with strong interactions with a network share that is on another virtual machine on the same server.  When I run the application on a server 2008R2, he completed in two minutes, which is expected.  When it works on Vista, he finished in eight minutes (4 times slower), which is unacceptable.  I am forced to use Vista because it is the last operating system supported by Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder Service Pack 1.
I tried to disable autotune and RSS, I added = 1 to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System CopyFileBufferedSynchronousIo, and I also tried safe mode with network experience.  Nothing works.
Is there something else to try?  Is there a way to clone the network settings on 2008R2 for vista, because they work?
The NIC reports it as: Microsoft Virtual Machine network adapter of Bus with a speed of 10 GB (10 gigabits) link.
    Thank you

  • Why Windows backup will not work on a network share?

I am running Vista Home Premium and have a drive WD MyBookWorld NAS on a MS LAN.  OneCare used to do all my backups, never had any problem, but OneCare is no more.  I also have a NAS Iomega 2 TB hard drive and the problem is exactly the same for that too - XP and 7 can save on it, Vista can not.

Windows backup works very well for readers SIN of my XP and 7 machines, but both the Vista, those who refuse.  I can drag and drop files from Vista to NAS, it's just the backup center who is the problem.  When I select the NAS drive for the backup on, he asks a user name and password.  My login to the Vista machine id does not work, and the administrator to the NAS password does not work.  The procedure fails with the 0x800706C6 message.  He refuses also backup on XP or 7 machines (with different messages).  He would be the backup on my other machine to Vista, but I do not have spare storage!
I have read articles countless and tried to turn on/off control of accounts and mapping changes the network drive, without success - the error message, but does not go far.
There is an industry on the internet trying to sell people PCHA (what is described as a Microsoft product), but I can't find any help on the Microsoft web site.  It is very bad, when the fault is so common.
Help, please.  What should I do?

    Hello

Windows Home Premium backup can't backup on a network location.
So you will need to use an application of part 3. Professional, comprehensive and Enterprise edition
    backup to a network share.

You can share files and use the 3rd backup XP to do or use Acronis or other
    party utilities.

I prefer for the most of backup data and prefer to do it in a way that makes it easy to find
and to restore a file as well as many.

Replicator - free - excellent backup tool for backing up the data

  • Windows XP sp3 can not access the network shares on vista after installing sp2

I have a xp sp3 computer and another currently running vista Home premium sp2. Previously, I was able to access the network share on the xp computer before vista computer I installed sp1. Both computers were able to ping between them without problem.

I've upgraded to sp2 because I had problems with windows media center, missing records. Upgrade of these issues fixed, but this means that roll back to sp1 is not an option for me to get operational network.

Please do not post a standard answer on the network configuration. I am familiar with the standards requirements to share files between xp and vista and everything is set up correctly.  Like I said everything was working fine before the installation of sp2.

If it is a known problem that is still not resolved, I'd appreciate knowing that information as well.

Edit: Firewall been disabled during my troubleshooting

After more work, I was able to solve my problem.  Update zone alarm solved my problem and helped my windows xp machine to access my Vista network shares.  As I pointed out in the original post, zone alarm firewall has been disabled during my troubleshooting.  Apparently, when disabled, the old version of zone alarm has always been the origin of the problem.

  • Monitoring of the performance of the network share

Was asked to monitor the performance of a drive mapped from a network share in Windows. We would like to have an idea of how long it takes to open/close/save a file on this share to different locations. As I know the Infrastructure Officer cannot monitor readers mounted remotely. I thought I could use Foglight Transaction Recorder and CitraTest to do. If someone else tried to do this? Or someone has used other methods or can think of ways to do this?

    Thank you

    Kris

    Hi antoniusfirst,

No you don't misunderstand the question. We have a license for Citratest, so it wouldn't be a problem, but I agree that it is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. I like your idea of using perl or python to do that, because it would probably be more flexible and adaptable. In fact I have been informed that the question seems to particularly affect Excel files, but some quick research on Google reveals that I have options here with perl or python too.

Thanks for the comments, it was very helpful.

    See you soon

  • How to know the username of an account on a network share

When I access a network share from another computer with windows Explorer, it tries to connect with identification information (current account & password or the credentials previously stored or depends on the settings of the remote computer as a guest), if not, it prompts for username & password (depending on certain parameters again). My problem is when I access a network share, I want to know my credentials (username) on the network computer.

Is there any command or no way to definitely know what username I connect to a network share with windows Explorer?

Original title: account in the network share

    Hi Aoikonomou,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

If I understand you correctly, you want to know the credentials of your system when you connect to a network share. I wish to inform you that all the names of login and passwords are supported by Credential Manager. By saving your credentials, Windows can automatically log in to websites or other computers. Credentials are stored in special files called vaults on your computer. Windows and programs (such as web browsers) can safely give the credentials in the vaults to other computers and websites.

To know your Windows credentials, you can read the following steps to open the Manager of credentials:

    1. Press the Windows key + X.
    2. Click on Control Panel.
    3. Type "Credential"" " in the search bar and select credentials manager. "
    4. Click Windows credentials.
    5. You will be able to see the user names and password (hidden).

In order to store passwords for automatic connection, see the following article:

Store passwords, certificates, and other credentials for automatic logon

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.
