New computer does not connect to the internet.

I built a new PC (Windows 7) and trying to connect to the internet with a CAT6 Ethernet cable. The computer doesn't seem to recognize its there and has not downloaded, so I can not connect, what do I do?

Hi Cody,

1. What is the brand and model of router/modem?

2. have you used the anothet ethernet cable?

Internet connection issues are more often caused by disconnected cables or by routers or modems that do not work correctly.

    Hello

I just installed a new router and now my desktop running xp computer does not connect to the internet. I know that it is not the router because I plugged the cable into my laptop running 7 and it works fine. When I try to dhcp I get 169..., when I put manually the IP just get no access to the internet and can not ping to the router address. I tried to run the net work Assistant, emptied my dns, disabled all firewals, still nothing.
    Any suggestions?

The zero configuration utility works very well. But it is a desktop computer and on cable. All other wired and wireless PC in the office is working well, then it's definitely this PC. He came out of nowhere, I install a network printer on the PC but that's all.

Your messages are a bit terse, but if I understand correctly

    • You have a router connected to the Internet and multiple computers connected to the router, some Ethernet cable and others by wireless.
    • All but one of these computers can reach successfully from the Internet via the router.
    • A computer that can't browse the Internet is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.
    • You disconnected the cable between the router and the desktop problem and connected it to a Windows 7 laptop and the laptop connected to the Internet via the router.
    • You haven't seen any error message (except, perhaps, a message on "Limited or no connectivity").
    • You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or at least Service Pack 2)

Assuming that all the foregoing is an accurate summary of the situation, I suggest that you do the following:

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following lines and press ENTER after each line

    Netsh reset winsock catalog
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.

    Hello:

Unfortunately, HP does not have manuals containing the BIOS for their notebooks to consumer based settings.

So I suggest only looking for these parameters if they are available anywhere in one of your menus of the BIOS.

1 LAN power saving Mode. Make sure it is set to off if you use the local network with your laptop NOT connected to an electrical outlet.

2 LAN/WLAN switching. Set to off to view your map network cable permanently. When this setting is enabled, your wireless adapter turns off automatically when you connect a LAN cable and visa versa.

If your laptop does not have one of these settings and your NETWORK card has disappeared, then more than likely he suffered some type of hardware failure.

  • My computer does not connect to the Internet. Event ID 7003, "the TCP/IP protocol driver service depends on the non-existent service below: IPSec."

    Hello!
I am working on a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop for a friend. She has Windows HP Home Edition, SP3 installed.
He said that Saturday night he started to act funny and wouldn't connect to the Internet. There were a few popups then begins, and he did not know if they were connected to not go on the Internet.
He had the rootkit.zeroaccess infection. I used Combofix to remove it. It won't always get on the Internet, either via a wi - fi or ethernet connection.
Looking at the event viewer, I see event ID 7003, "the TCP/IP protocol driver service depends on the non-existent service below: IPSec."
Then, event 7001, "(NLA) network location awareness service depends on the service protocol driver TCP/IP which could not start due to the following error: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.".

I copied ipsec.sys from another XP Home machine which worked and stuck in the Windows\System32\drivers directory and it still does not work.

    Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

    Hi DamonBrigham,

-What exactly happens when you connect to the Internet? You get an error message or error code? If Yes, indicate the same.

-Do you have a cable or a wireless connection?

If this is a wired connection, try starting mode safe mode with network and check if you can connect to the Internet successfully.

Networking Mode safe mode starts Windows in mode safe mode and includes the network drivers and services needed to access the Internet or other computers on your network.

See this link for instructions on the boot safe mode with networking:

  • My HP shows it is connected to the new router, but does not connect to the internet. How should I do?

I have a HP G60 Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium, it is about 4 years old. I recently got a new Cisco Linksys E1500 wireless router, which is connected to my home computer. My laptop shows that it is connected to the home network, but it does not connect to the internet. Other laptops in the House are able to connect to the network and to the internet. Mine seems to be the only one not working do not. Why it is not working? What should I do about it?

I ran the network diagnostics. It is said "a problem with you network router or modem broadband could prevent an internet connection." I have disconnected these two and tried again. It did not work! I have also connected my laptop directly on the modem and it does not always connect to the internet. I tried to reset the network card. My IP settings are set to automatic.

My internet connection was not a problem before last week (when I got a new router). What is the problem with my computer? Help, please!

    Hello:

If you have an Atheros wireless adapter in your PC and you have not updated the driver, I recommend that you install it.

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3688868&swItem=ob-99392-1&mode=3

Wireless adapters Atheros with former pilots, dislikes the new Linksys routers.

If you have an Atheros wireless card, and your wireless driver is more than 2 years, I am very confident that this will solve your connection problem.

  • Homer in Windows Server does not connect to the internet.

I installed Windows Home Server on a self-built media server. Everything on the hardware is working properly. The server software is installed. The ethernet line is connected to my Linksys router. The power light is on decision-making on the case ethernet connection. The power led is on the router where the ethernet is connected. So, in my view, that the issue is not material.
    Problems:
    1. the server does not connect to the internet.
    2. my computer does not recognize the server when I install the Windows Home Server Connector software.
    3. the wizard of Linksys on my computer does not recognize the server as a "new device".

I feel like I'm missing a driver, maybe a driver of ethernet controller, but do not know how to diagnose the problem.  I downloaded the Windows tool that identified the problems I listed, but solutions are not feasible.

    Any suggestions?

  • HP HPE 180 t does not connect to the Internet at startup

Hoping someone can help, I had 1 cat and 3 service calls to HP with no luck.  It's a whole new HPE 180 t, 12 GB of RAM, HD 10 000 rpm option, GTX 260 card, etc.  It has Intel 82567V-2 Gigabit controller.  I use a Linksys WRT400N router and a new cable modem of Motorola SB6120.

On the day of arrival only, HP had problems to connect to internet at startup or wakeup.  No doubt connects 1 on each tent 5-6.  I tried everything - reset the cable modem, router, release and renew the IP address, download the new drivers from Intel, etc.

Very frustrating - and the thing is, I know that the network is working, because my old Dell 8400 is sitting here and it connects every time. It is connected to the same router, as does my laptop Dell 1545, no connection problems at all.

HP support was not able to help.  So I have a brand new computer that does not connect to the internet 95% of the time.  Any ideas would be appreciated... THX.

OK sports fans, keep your fingers crossed.  Come back from Wal-Mart, where I bought a router Netgear WGR614v10 to yestertech on sale for $34.98.  Came home, installed and everything works!  HP connects instantly connects Dell computer Dell laptop connects, works of modem cable Motorola...

Tried everything on, off tension, different combinations of reboots, etc., in order to give it the toture test and hit the wood, everything works fine.

Then, the last Linksys WRT400N router apparenly, which isn't on the list of recommended routers Comcast, will not work with this computer.  Now that I did a few Google searches on this subject, I find others who say the same thing.  I called an old friend of mine who is a type of network with the Federales and he said, what Comcast told him specifically NOT to use the router WRT400N Comcast internet service.  So go figure...

I hope that this case is closed, and thanks for the help and suggestions of everyone and stick with me on this.  I hope that this thread will help others.  The largest that I can give to others is to ensure that you ask your ISP first to see if they have a list of recommended hardware!  Ciao...

  • Airport utility: green points on the AirPort Extreme & Internet; Mini Mac does not connect to the internet.

Airport utility shows green points on the AirPort Extreme and the Internet, but my my Mac mini does not connect to the internet. IPhones and 2 portable Windows connect very well, and see all the devices on the home network. The problem occurred after that PSI has swapped an ancient for a Comtrend CT5072T DSL modem. I tried to stop and things start back up as if the installation of the internet for the first time. No joy.

The airport connects using DHCP in Bridge Mode

    The router address is 192.168.80.1

    Address IPv4 is 192.168.80.2

DNS server is the same as the router, but grayed out

Mac Mini IPv4 Address is 192.168.80.3

    IPv6 automatically configures

Also updated the firmware of the airport; no change.

ISP guy was friendly but puzzled. He started at the top floor level Tech, so I do not know when I hear back.

    Any ideas to fix?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    Network preferences may be damaged.

Open the Finder. In the Finder menu bar, click go > go to folder

Type or copy paste the following text:

    / Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

Click OK, and then move all files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the trash.

Restart your Mac. See if that makes a difference.

Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

Then open AirPort Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilitiies

Make sure that both Internet and Extreme are green.

  • Satellite L350 does not connect to the internet, network adapter yellow exclamation

Trying to help my Nan with his laptop...
    Model is Satellite L350-170

Does not connect to internet, even using the Ethernet cable. Network cards have yellow exclamation marks on it and seems he needs an updated driver. How the hell can I download and update if it does not connect to the internet. And then, what update is necessary, because I searched on here and there is no update driver for network card?

She had various internet help from its supplier and a visit at home but still no joy. Internet works fine on other devices. Any advice greatly appreciated.

All the drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba UE driver page.
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Choose your model of laptop in the form of download and the system that is pre-installed on you unit.
Then, you will get the list of drivers.

If you are not able to connect to the internet due to lack of driver LAN/WLan, then you another computer for download.

You asked how to remove the network card?
Usually, you need to access the Device Manager (in Control Panel) then we need to expand the area to network adapters and you will find the LAN and WLan card.
Click the single LED adapter, and then press or click on uninstall button driver

I recently bought a laptop Lenovo Z580, I'm running Windows 7 on it, and the problem it is that it does not connect to the Internet initially once I start my computer, although I will be connected to the LAN. When I try to diagnose the problem, I get the error message below.
