New hard drive for HP6930 - BSOD when installing the OS

I recently bought a new hard drive for my HP6930 so I can switch between my work and home demands (they cannot reside on the same hardware).

Both drives are Fujitsu SATA 160 GB.

After swapping the drives and boot from CD to install the operating system - I get a BSOD, hardware failure - "the system was arrested to prevent damage...". "with a comment about the check of the hard drive.

Can anyone provide insight into what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you

Dave

You can integrate the drivers Sata (ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI) and burn a new cd XP with nLite .

Here is a guide showing how to integrate and here drivers Sata. 7-ZIP or Universal Extractor are good at unpacking the installer.

My HP Envy m6-1205dx son is a notebook of 2013. The screen was broken and I replaced one. Now he says that there is not a BONE, I tried to install a full version of Windows 7 Professional, and he said that he there was not a boot device. I've reconfigured the BIOS to boot with the CD/DVD ROM and it started installing. When he arrives at the point of asking where to put the installation there is no option. I checked the connection to the hard drive and it is not a problem here. I think to buy a new hard drive to install the Windows 7 operating system, I am afraid that it will not work or he will say that I need to install the drivers. This laptop originally supplied with Windows 8. Can I install this version of Windows on this laptop? If I need to install the drivers how can I get them? It cannot be a website to download the drivers on your computer. I can't do without the computer having an operating system. I downloaded some drivers from a link, I saw on You Tube and put it on a flash drive, but none was consistent, one of them did read on a different/more older computer I tried to install this OS on and it says that the driver was out of date. It seems to me that a (FULL VERSION) drivers and everything else you might need. I'm not computer savvy, so I do not know! I'm just trying to save my investment of $600 on this computer without spending $300. I can get a new hard drive for $80 and it was on that I would go; However, I will buy a new Windows 8 operating system if it is the only option.

There is no device driver Windows 7 for your model, only Windows 8:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=5359748&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en

If there is no driver, your PC may not work correctly (No. LAN or WiFi, Audio, USB, etc.) after the installation of Windows 7.

Check your hard drive, if the laptop has been abandoned the drive may be defective and must be replaced.

You can order a support of HP recovery:

    The origonal drive failed?

If you are using a real MS win dvd during the first part of the installation it can not find a drive or ask a driver, then the driver is obtained from Dell, specific to your model, its likely the driver sata, you need to download to say a USB and then point to this file when the installation application the third-party driver.

  • HP TouchSmart 420 - 1000 t CTO: need help with the installation of windows on a new hard drive for HP TouchSmart 420-1000 t CTO (bought in 2012)

My hard drive is failng in my computer I get the message that "the failure of hard drive" is imminent for several months now.  I did just recovery disks after I bought my computer and that you have ordered a new hard drive.

I thought that the part of the setup of windows on a portion of the current hard disk that I need to replace.

I want to just make sure that if I can restore the windows completely and that all programmes provided with the computer are on the recovery discs I want to do it myself - so I need to know I'm doing it correctly!

    Thank you very much.

PS I found this web page below and I want to just make sure that it applies to me:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-TouchSmart-420-1000-desktop-PC-series/5146292/model/5155758/d...

This link in the post seems to apply to the situation.  If you have already completed the defined recovery disc then it should just be a matter of running the recovery disc after the new hard drive is installed.  The recovery disk set will be "restoring windows completely and all programs included with the computer".  Be aware that all other items that were installed or personal data will not be restored.  When replacing the hard drive, do not buy a disc exceeds the limit of 2 TB, such as published in the SPECS for TouchSmart 420-1000 t CTO.

  • I would buy a new hard drive for my Compac SR5450F

I was wondering if I bought a new hard drive for my Compac SR5450F will be work from my original restore on anybrand disk or do I have the original hard drive that accompany it.  If I have the same need could you show me where to order on HP.

The Compaq SR5450F comes with a 500 GB Sata hard drive.  You must replace it with a disk of size equal to or greater.

The Spec is 3.5 "SataII / 3GB / s 32 MB cache. Seagate and WD Black are very popular.

  • New hard drive, Elements 9 continues to lose the image location

Several months ago, I installed a new larger hard drive.  I had problems with it's partition table after using it for only a month and replaced by a similar drive.  I still had the old drive more small with almost all my files on it so I cloned these are partitions to my new work properly in the car.

The operating system on the C: drive, my photos are on the old drive D: partition smaller non-corrupt is always in the computer and appears as drive I: I: dirve has more photos on it I backed up the addition.

I discovered that items think my pictures can be found on the i drive: path is correct in the properties except it appear as I:\My Pictures\etc instead of D:\My Pictures\etc, if I'm trying to recconect in items when I navigate to the correct folder location he finds the picture but does not connect to give an error "the file is already in the catalog.

I removed my catalog existing, made a new catalog and then get all the photos of my D drive.  At the beginning he showed all the files in the correct location, but the next day he still thought once the photos were on the I: drive.  I tried this twice and each time he returned finally to the I: drive.

Anyone knows how I can get items to realize where my photos are really?

I also tried to move all the photos on the i drive: reproduce the structure of folder, I then did a backup of the items and a restoration of items on the d: drive, when I've done that elements immediately said that the photos are still on the I: drive.

Could drive cloning have confused elements?  I don't think that my hard drive for a short time with the problems of partition table is related to this.

    Thank you.

Yes, the cloning is done.  PSE uses the volume as well as the drive letter ID to keep track of your photo locations.  The cloning tool most likely created volumes with the same ID of the volume.  Type 'flight' at the command prompt for each of your drives/partitions to see if the volume ID are the same.  If so, search the site of Microsoft for instructions change code. a reader

Disable (help > deactivate) on your old hd.

then install it using the installation files and your serial number.

  • XPS 8300: Install new hard drive 3 TB BSOD results after imaging but not after Win7 clean

I have a XPS 8300 and the original Seagate 2 TB hard drive is dead. Because being forced to install a new HARD drive, I opted for 3 TB and bought a WD because I had horrible luck with Seagate repeatedly.

Anyway, I installed the new HARD drive and booted from the Windows 7 64 bit Pro installation disc and attached my external drive to backup and choose the backup image to the new disk. It completed without error, but when the computer restarts, I get a blue screen of death with the 7B stop code. I tried to put the HARD drive in a box and attached to another computer, and all my image files are there so I know that the computer was able to write the image to the new HARD disk. How to fix the BSOD errors? I set to update to the latest version of the BIOS (A06) but always the blue screen. I tried to install the latest Intel drivers also and which does not seem to do anything.

Frustrated, I installed Windows 7 clean on this drive and I am writing this message from him. The drive appears in my computer as a 2 TB. Disk Management displays 100 MB System Reserved Partition, Partition C: of 2047 GB and 746 GB unallocated.

Why a new installation does not seem to work (I know that I would have to format the 746 GB to use it and to give it a new drive letter) but the imagery that the disc breaks down. What Miss me?

I've seen a lot of posts on using Intel drivers to solve similar problems. These drivers get breaths during the imaging process? Should they be installed before the imagery of the backup? (Thought that I did, but maybe I didn't do it right - their installation can be verified before the disk imaging?) Tried to call Dell and Windows support... am no where in a hurry.

    Hi LG1382,

You cannot start Windows 7 on a 3 TB drive. You can use it for data, but not as the system drive. Windows 7 can only start TPG on systems with BIOS UEFI, which does not the 8300.

  • New hard drive for HP Pavilion dv6 drive because of error messages 303 and 305

    Hello

My laptop was getting slower and slower, so I did a restore default via the recovery partition, and when it restarts to start reformat and reinstall back to factory condition, I got a message on the screen telling me to run the hard drive test. Did it and got error 303 and 305 messages. Restore to preset works however, after doing research in the error codes I go account, I'm for a new hard drive.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dvd6-3203TU with WIndows 7 Home Premium installed. It currently has a disk 320 GB TOSHIBA MK3265GSXX HDD in it.

After reading the forums, I am pleased to see that my recovery disks will be reinstalling everything on a new hard drive and partition a C: drive and also the recovery partition. The main issue I have is my new drive hard must it be 320 GB in size as the original or to buy something like a disk 500 GB + for the laptop. If I have to replace the hard drive that I can as will increase size while, if possible i.e..

It must also be a Toshiba or I can buy another brand?

Eager to help regarding this I thank you in advance as

    Hello

Your laptop is listed as coming with a 320 GB hard drive, but you can install just as easily a 500 GB or 750 GB HARD drive if you want more space - readers at the following links are examples that would be perfect for your laptop - you are in no way limited to a particular manufacturer.

    Hard drive 500 GB

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 65 of your & Maintenance Guide.

  • New hard drive for compaq presario c500 running vista. I want to switch to windows 7

I'm fixing my laptop aunts. He a presario c500 compaq running windows vista. I bought a new hard drive. I would like to install windows 7. She could get windows 7 discs for free when she got off the computer, windows 7 was not yet. They have offered free windows 7 for people who bought the PC just before its release. Is it too late? I guess it's too late. Is there anyway I can get windows 7 for free? Or is there any discount for the upgrade to vista. I can't afford windows 7 discs.

In my opinion, it's too late to get a free version or price reduced from Windows 7. This offer was available about two or three years, if my memory is good.

You can Contact HP and ask.

  • new hard drive for laptop

I have a laptop dv7-3140el and HD samsung HM641JI 640GB 2.5 "SATA 5400 RPM (to replace car failure). To buy a new hard drive I have to take the same or I can take 7200 RPM instead of 5400? What technical specifications should I look for when buying a hard drive for computer laptop dv7-3140el? I wouldn't make a bad purchase!

    Sorry for my bad English

    Hello

Here are a few points to note when replacing your HARD drive:

You are not limited to any particular drive manufacturer.

The speed of rotation of the disc can be 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM

The new drive HARD should be at least the same capacity (or slightly more is okay) as the original drive - mounting a drive smaller than the original often causes risks with recovery media.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

750 GB hard drive for laptop.

If necessary, the procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 47 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

I need to replace my hard drive failed and did a little research for a new.

I currently have a Seagate ST9500420AS which has a height of 9.5 mm and I think about him replacing a portable Seagate SSHD (ST500LM000) with a height of 7 mm. It is suitable for my computer and it is compatible? This is my first time looking for a new hard drive, so any advice is welcome.

    Thanks for reading!

It must be installed.  You will have just a small gap at the top.  The holes should register where they need brackets etc.
