  I searched through the fourms and can't seem to find this information.  I'm looking for a suggestion on the Setup and the disk external DRIVE via the USB port on the back of the router you can listen to music and videos on my 360 or PS3.  I see that some people have managed to put it in place and I would like to know which external HARD drive that they use.

  I want my externall HDD to sleep, but I want that it to wake up when I go to play the music on my computer or 360 or PS3.  Please post what disk external HARD - that someone has found that works.  Or should I just go with a NAS connected on one of the router's ethernet ports?

  Any player should work.  I use a WD drives on my own, (although I share with other systems then the xbox).  Actions are implemented for UPnP.  The documentation should be sufficient to implement that.  Make sure the drive is formatted as an NTFS drive, or it is not possible.

  In addition, make sure you have the latest firmware (21 January 2009).

  In record time, readers built into the firmware and the timeout when they timeout.  You would not be able to set the timeout on this.  I didn't know all the disks than that.  If you are REALLY interested in saving energy buy a USB solid state with no moving parts.  They turned off immediately after what they read/write.

• Change of external drives for the LR catalog

  I keep my lightroom catalog file on my computer, but I store my images on an external drive.

  I recently bought a new external NAS RAID 1 drive to replace my NAS RAID 1 older, smaller drive and all my images are passed to this new disc.

  
  I've been looking through the forums and googling and just groping in LR, but can't figure out how to make my catalog aware of the fact that the images are on the new drive.

  Two things: I'm on a Mac and my external drives are drives NAS (there is no involved and unmapped Windows drive letter).

  The structure is the same thing, I just need to educate the new disc instead of the old disk catalog.

  My Setup was

  /Volumes/old -player/photos /.

  2003 /.

  2004.

  2005 /.

  ... etc...

  My new Setup is

  /Volumes/-newdisc/photos /.

  My catalog is in

  The function you are looking for is right-click (cmd-click? don't know) on the high-level folder in LR and reconnect it to the new location of the disk.  It will allow you to navigate to the new folder location.

• With the help of Windows Easy Transfer - need to transfer the old HARD drive to new computer - old HDD attached as external drive for the new usb port of the computer - help

  New computer installed Windows 7 and gave me an option to use Windows easy transfer to transfer files, data, programs, etc. from my old computer.  All I have from the old computer's hard drive; a lightning strike fried either food or his mother by car.  I have attached the hard as a disk to the new computer using the usb cable provided with the external hard drive case.  It is recognized as drive E: on the new computer.

  Trying to follow the instructions given by the Windows Easy Transfer software.  Get the software/folder from the old hard drive (drive E), but trying to run the software that I can't seem to do anything on the old disk.  When asked what is the former or the new computer - I respond to old, but no new file is created for the transfer.  When I answer again, a new file is created on the new computer (rather than the old HDD) and then he transferred again to new.  I can't create a file of whatever it is I want to transfer from the old HDD.

  I can't use an easy transfer cable because the old computer does not only the hard drive.  I can't connect to a network for the same reason.  I only have the hard that I can attach to the new computer.  But I can't get the new computer to process the old hard drive separately for transfer purposes.  The only other option I can think of is to attach the old HDD to another computer, and then try to run the software in this way, but I don't want just the stuff on the old hard drive a copy to the other computer.

  Can anyone help?  Suggest how to get the old hard drive files, data, transferred etc. to the new computer.  What are the steps?

  Do yourself a favor, with the old drive connected externally, in the browser, simply copy the data files to the location of Documents of the PC win7. You can not copy programs, they need to be reinstalled from media origonal. You can copy all the downloaded files instalation

• Why my XP does not recognize a Toshiba 500 GB USB external drive... it does not appear in disk management or in computer

  Bought a new Toshiba 500 GB drive external usb.  My XP desktop won't recognize/find this disc.  It does not appear when you view the disk management or work station.  I also have it on my new laptop (Vista) and it has been found immediately.  My research online only tells me to find the external drive in disk management and assign a drive letter to... but I don't think to assign a letter!   Three things that you have not yet mentioned are

  1. don't change you the registry suggested by the KB Article (see: a computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB flash drive, an iPod from Apple or an external hard drive)?  I suggest do it manually instead of using the FixIt.

  Reformat to FAT32 was probably not necessary (and you'll probably want to re - format to NTFS before use).  XP has no problem with large (> 500 GB) external USB drives.

  You have yellow excalamation marks in Device Manager?
  Normally, if you search on the Toshiba site for your model of laptop you will get a list of the different drivers and then you download the LAN driver.
  Also, do you mean the network card or wireless network adapter?

  Also, check the number of vendor as Akuma said.

  I sought advice and found this driver for a Keithley 2400, which must work with Labview 8.  I have Labview 8.6.

  I put the driver file in the right place and the vi are appearing in the selection menu, as expected.  I have my Keithley 2400 connected to a serial port COM1.  When I am trying to run the VI initialization it does not work.  I know that they are communicating in a form any because my Keithley goes into remote mode and the driver initialization is able to read properly what is the model of the Keithley.  When he arrives at the VISA read vi is to expire, it always returns the correct model identification.  I do not understand why it is allowed and does not.

  Is there anything else I should have installed?  The driver readme indicates the only additional software required is 3.2 NI-VISA, but I have version 4.4, so I should be fine.  I don't understand why it "kind of" works.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  You should check the endpoint used to indicate the end of a message from the instrument. The 2400 can use one of the 4 different endings:

  I don't know which is the default. The driver is written assuming that , although this should work if the instrument is configured to use either or . If it is set to one of the other 2 then you'll get a timeout on reading error.

She just an option for me and click OK, then I do and everything disappears and nothing is installed on my computer... do not know what happens...   Click the link 2 (use of the Internet connection), and then select no thanks for both options.
