-Reset of mozilla has not fixed the problem.

This is a known bug in Firefox that is known by some, but not all, users. It can be bypassed by following these steps:

  1. Go to Subject: config and click on the warning message.
  2. In the search at the top of the page box, type the text dom.disable_window_open_feature. Wait a few seconds for the filter takes effect or press ENTER.
  3. Double-click one of the listed values that have a value of False to change to True.
  4. Close the tab when you're done and that the problem should be solved!

    Thank you, Amos.

Hi Amos, assuming you want to get more protection, monitoring, there are a few options:

    • You can customize your firefox shortcut on the desktop or the taskbar to open firefox directly in private browsing mode: right-click the shortcut "mozilla firefox", go to properties, and at the end of the target line that should hold them the way to the firefox program folder add " -private"
    • You can enable protection followed not only during private browsing, but in normal windows as hollow a 'hidden' preference: enter on: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) and search for the preference named privacy.trackingprotection.enabled. Double-click it and change its value to true.
    • You can set firefox don't remember history in the menu > options > sign confidentiality in order to always run in private browsing mode. • Enter the file - new private window, FF opens the new window and then immediately returns to the window this request was made of

Press file - new private window, FF new window (non-private) for about 5 seconds, then returns immediately to the window that asked the new private window. This occurs on three different machines at my place, all with Win 7.

This can be caused by a plugin like Flash that uses the plugin-container in one of the tabs in this window to another.

  • I want the cursor to be in the address bar when you create a new window; It works for new tabs and a new private window, but not in safe mode.

I tried following the advice offered in the different threads bit I found on this but nothing works out. I want the cursor to be in the address bar when I open a new window or when firefox opens without restoring a previous session. I solved the problem for new tabs via subject: config, but it does not work for the new windows. I tried safe mode and the problem persists. In a new private window, the cursor is in the address bar.

A new window opens the homepage (default: subject: House) and not the new tab page (default: subject: newtab).

Some of the built-in pages set the focus to the search bar on the web page, just like the Google site only.

You can use a bookmark in the bookmarks toolbar that opens the subject: blank page.
If you hold down the SHIFT key when you click this bookmark, then you open a new widow with this page.
Otherwise, you need to set the home page to about: blank or on the point: about to have easy access to all the pages.

  • How can I get rid of the private browsing page when you open a new private window?

When I opened a private page of private browsing navigation appears and says this:

    Private browsing

Firefox don't remember the history of this window.

In a private browsing window, Firefox will retain all the history of the browser, search history, download history, form web history, cookies or temporary internet files. However, files you download and bookmarks you make will be kept.

To stop private browsing, you can close this window.

While this computer will not have a record of your browsing history, your internet service provider or your employer can always track the pages you visit.

I want to get rid of this suggestion?

It is not possible to get rid of this page in normal mode.
However, you do not get this page if you start Firefox in private browsing permanent mode (don't remember history).

    • Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "Use the custom settings for history": "always use the private browsing mode.

You can use an extension for private browsing mode support tab.

  • Can I remove the 'New private window' option entirely from the computer toolbar is not yet an option?

I would like this option completely removed because now it is easy to have two windows open, a private, as usual, and we can watch more easily inappropriate things by quickly closing the private browsing session, so I think I can't control my child activities as easily...

You cannot change the menu bar on Mac as can be done on other platforms such as Windows and Linux via userChrome.css code or with an extension as the menu editor.

On Mac, the menu bar is maintained by the Mac OS and so out of reach of the adaptations.

  • Not so private private window

If I leave my current session open, then connect to gmail in a private window and then close this window private the previous open window that was not previously logged in gmail is now recorded. Therefore, the privacy of the new private window is not so private.

Your private windows display an icon "mask"? I put an arrow pointing to it in the second image. If this isn't the case, you can have the automatic value of Firefox's private browsing. In this mode, all windows are private and so all windows to share a unique cookie jar. You can check on the page of Options here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

If the selector is set on "conservation rules: don't remember history ' change temporarily to ' Firefox will be: use the custom settings for history".

What is the box ticked "always use the private browsing mode"?

  • Option private window is no longer works

Until this week, I've always been able to access 'New private window' menu option. For some reason, I can no longer do.

    Your help would be appreciated.

Is the problem that the button is missing, it does nothing, or that a window is "ordinary"?

Also, you should find it in two menus:

    • button menu '3-bar' (menu of the Application)
    • classic file menu (you can press the Alt key to display the menu bar if you don't usually show)

Note that private windows are not distinctly marked if you set Firefox to automatically start in private mode. You can check this setting here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

If the dialog box indicates "conservation rules: don't remember history" then Firefox will start automatically in private mode: all windows are private. To activate that power off, change the selection to "conservation rules: use the custom settings for history" and uncheck "always use the private browsing mode. Firefox has to restart after you do it, so if you're in the middle of all the work, fill your work first.
