New TAB Options

V10 running in Windows 7.

I had a problem with a rogue program that changed my default settings in all directions and I've sorted all of them except one.

Everytime I open a new tab by default to 'http://start.facemoods.com/?a=wbst & f = 2' and not a blank tab.

I looked all through the options, but I would like to have it at the blank original test. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hello

I found this article on the Facemoods website.

http://articles.facemoods.com/English/how-to-remove-start-facemoods/

He mentions that you might have an installed addon that is causing the new tab view his Web page.

Try to go to: Tools-> Addons and select Facemoods and click Remove. You will need to restart Firefox after doing this.

Let me know if you don't see the add-on in the list, and we will try something else.

  • Why my number of tiles on a new tab options reset?

    Hello!

So far, I have had a few very specific options for my 'new tab' window. Using of "subject: config ' (instead of the URL), I put in 'browser.newtabpage.columns' and 'browser.newtabpage.rows' to 6, and then I selected specific sites to have an easy shortcut for them in the 'new tab' thumbnail.

It worked great until today. Now, even if I never made any change, the 'new' tab appears only 4 columns and 3 rows of tiles. These tiles always contain the same site as usual, but obviously I can't access if some of them, as I had more than 12.

MOREOVER, in, the ' topic: config ' window, 'browser.newtabpage.columns' and 'browser.newtabpage.rows' are ALWAYS set at 6. Of course, I tried to change to something else, but it does not work either. Firefox completely ignores my setup!

What should I do to recover my usual tools? Thank you already for your answers!

More information: I am on Windows 7 and I don't have any addon on Firefox.

I found the solution without the help of Add-ons. There is:
    1. open the ' topic: config.
    2. find the "browser.newtab.preload."
    3. push back to "false".

        * it should be on "true" by default, if it's "false", then this fix will not work.

Yes, you are missing the two options that are usually on top: 'open in a new tab' and 'open in a new window '.

I guess that it is an extension or a wild theme. You can easily test that by starting Firefox with disabled modules: issues to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode

You can then disable all extensions and select one by one to figure on which we have the problem. If you don't have time for that and don't care about the extensions, you can just reset Firefox: Firefox Refresh - reset the parameters and modules

  • Double open new tab option

I'll be back to a parent, who also use the FF. Much to my amazement, it has as well an icon in the menu bar "open new tab" and tab "+" in the tab bar, while I can only drag from one to the other, but it seems not be kind to have both options. It is not a very big deal, but it is sometimes useful to be able to open a new tab or the other.

Is it possible to enable this feature, and I'm not really afraid to edit all the files to do this?

You can do this with userChrome.css code

Drag the new button tab on the bar of tabs to another toolbar via customize to make visible here and use code in userChrome.css to make the new button original tab on the visible tab bar as well.

Customization files (interface) userChrome.css and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the chrome folder in the user profile folder.

  • Is there a way to bring back the "Open a new tab" option by right clicking on the tab?

I just upgraded to the latest version of Firefox (6.0). Yesterday he informed that an upgrade to Firefox 5. (something) was available and asked if I wanted to spend. I went for it. However, I had not used since then until today. Now when I opened it today it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to version 6.0. Without hesitation, I went for him also.

Although this version is pretty, it's a little weird to use. Previously, whenever I tried to open a new tab, I right click on one of the tabs (current tab or another tab) and after a right-click, he had the opportunity to open a new tab , as well as a few other options. Now there is no option. There is the button to open a new tab, but what happens if I want to open a link in a new tab by clicking right on it? Even the option to open in a new window is also absent.

Is there a way to bring back these settings/options previous tab? If so, how?

PS in my bookmarks bar, when I click on a bookmark icon, it has the same options/settings as he had previously in the last version I used (last version I used was 3.something; while I had updated to version 5 something I had not used except to open the browser when it asked me to upgrade to version 6.0). Options on the right by clicking the bookmark icon are:
    Open
    New bookmark...
    New folder...
    New separator
    Cup
    Copy
    Dough
    Delete
    Properties

I would also like to mention here that I know shortcut keys; so please don't waste your time trying to help me in this way. Thank you.

    # The tab bar is a regular toolbar in recent versions of Firefox, so you get the normal of a toolbar context menu if you right-click the tab bar.

You can double-click an empty space on the tab bar to open a new tab if you do not want to use the new tab button.

You can drag a link on the new tab button to open this link in a new tab.

You can also drag the new button tab on another toolbar, if you'd better like that.

Open the Customize via "view > toolbars > customize" or "Firefox > Options > toolbars."

  • where is open links in new tab option because I do not want to right-click?

I use kubuntu 12,04 Fire fox 20. I want to open links in a new tab without clicking right I used to which is why I can't now?

Moreover, Firefox offers you also the possibility to open a link in a new tab using the:

    • Click the link (for example, the mouse scroll wheel)
    • CTRL + click on the link (Mac: command + click)
  • New window JavaScript links that specify the size of the window are open in a new tab instead.

Before you go to 7.0.1 the default 'open windows in a new tab' option only would do to target = "_blank" links and functions JavaScript which did not specify the new size of the window. If an included JavaScript function size in the characteristic attributes, a new window would open again for a proper display of the new content.

Since the upgrade to 7.0.1 on Mac, however, all new window links open in a new tab tested on two different Macs and confirmed in the subject: config values have been defined as follows:

    Browser.Link.open_newwindow = 3
    Browser.Link.open_newwindow.restriction = 2

No problem here on Linux to open these windows pop up in a new window.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

In the past 48 hours, all of a sudden, the new tab featured on my PC, using Firefox 3.56, simply stopped working. I do not change the settings, or download a new version of Firefox. It has just stopped working. There are other scenarios where it still works (for example, if I want to open a link in a web page, I can right click and open link in a new tab), but if I want simply to have several websites open at one time on my PC, I have to have multiple versions of Firefox open as my new tab option seems to be disabled or something. Firefox uses a vertical bar ("|") in order to separate several home pages.
You can check the setting of the home page to see if the subject: preferences page is included among the home pages (| subject: preferences #general).

This can happen if you click on "use current page (s) ' to set the home page and about: preferences is open in a tab.
You can pin the tab with the subject: the preferences page to avoid including: preferences for layout home page if you want to use this button.
To set a page as the home page, you can drag the globe/lock for the home button.

As of today, when I click on Tools / Options, it will open in a new TAB. I want the window options quick return, how can I do this? < <

Now about: config, affecting < browser.preferences.advanced.selectedTabIndex > < false > does not open a popup window, but rather a new tab.

The browser.preferences.inContent is no longer supported in Firefox 42 and later (bug 1140495), is not possible to open an independent window by setting this pref to false.

Optionally, create a button on the toolbar of bookmarks for the subject: preferences and hold the Shift key and left click to open the page in a new window.

You can watch the extension Classic theme restaurateur.

    • General UI (1): The options Page (topic: preferences) in a window

If that doesn't work or the choice is missing then you may be using a theme that is not supported.
You can check that by opting for the default theme.

  • New tab always opens Bing, but about: config does not have listed options...

I have a question where my home page has been changed to the Bing home page, and after I corrected it seems now that any time I opened a new tab, it goes straight to the Bing...
I found a solution to this in another thread, but it seems to be incorrect for my browser.

type: newtab is the third option down that says searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser. Double-click on it and where it says 'true', ' false '.

As indicated in the filename of the image as an attachment, there is no "searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser" on this page?
So, I'm always curious about a correction for this problem!

Don't know where you find this - searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser - pref pref invalid, does not exist by default. Could be added pref by an extension, for anyone who posted.

Browser.newtab.URL is the pref you want - right click and select reset
    Then restart Firefox.

  • How to open the Firefox options in a window as it is used, instead of in a new tab?

Firefox used to have options in a separate window, but now when I try to open it, it opens in a new tab instead, which is quite annoying, because it removes the emphasis on my active tab. How can I go about changing this back to the old way of doing with the window much easier?

There is a way to return to the Inbox of dialogueOptions old style pop up. Here's how:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste pref and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.preferences.inContent to true to false

(Note: I don't know if the old dialog box will be in Firefox forever, or is a transitional device.) As you have probably noticed, the long-term trend is to remove things that appear.)

I hope that the opportunity to return to your last used tab is added in a future update. In fact, Firefox should go back to your last active tab when you close the tab Preferences, but spend your preferences and the last used tab is less convenient when they are in the same window.
