New version of Java 7 udpate 40 download on firefox

I can't download Java 7 update 40 on firefox (or IE).
I tried everything suggested in the forum here and get the same message:

"The connection was reset while the page loading..."

(All my other pages/research charge very well).

It seems to have started when my pc did an automatic update of Windows 9, when nothing else worked, I therefore uninstalled Windows 9 and am now under Windows 8, but Java still doesn't work do not.
I uninstalled the old version of Java in my programs.
including all the 'toolkits' etc. You don't know if it was the right idea, but now...
I checked activate java in all the internet options boxes etc as said on the forums.

My Windows Vista is running on 32-bit operating system - has always...
Could be the problem? The new update of Java 7 is 64-bit?
However, when I try and follow the instructions on the Java site to download for 32-bit.
I get the same problem and the same standard page showing me there was a problem connecting etc...

I don't know if it's a problem of Firefox or an IE one? It will not download on IE... and I checked all the boxes it etc, tried to disable the firewall etc...

I see on the Firefox plug-ins, called tookkit of java is disabled due to security and I can't change this setting... that is the problem?
I just, laymans pc notions... can.; "t make things complicated, but is it something simple, I have wrong here or is this a fault of well-known firefox... with this Java?
If that's what should I do next?

Thanks v more
Rhian

I had the same problem on Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13. However, I was able to download and install update 40 this morning (Monday, 14 October) successfully. It must have been a problem with the Java download site as there is problem in Firefox and IE, and it seems to be fixed now.

You don't need to do anything, since Java 7 update 51 is not vulnerable (AFAIK) and is the recommended version to http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and http://www.java.com/en/download/

If you check the "I have Java?' bind to http://www.java.com/en/download/ and run the applet Java detection it will tell you that you have recommended Java installed (Version 7 update 51).

  • How to get rid of a search not intentionally installed "tab" to update the new version of Java JRE?

Since Oracle surprisingly quickly announced an update of Java JRE (7.11 update), Jan 14, available todag I install naturally. Despite being very careful with all unwanted program providers are trying to impose on the innocent user, I always have a f * ck * thing-same to tab search ng in my line of tabs. I don't want or need, and it occupies valuable space. The evil rats who created this stinky sh * t were very careful hide all the simple ways of removing - it is not (as far as I can see) are everywhere in my lists of Add-ons or extensions. I tried to watch: config, but I am totally inexperianced with this and do not dare to change: in fact, I can't find anything usable.

Anyone who has a suggestion how to get rid of that junk qualified? My FF is the Swedish version, that's why I stuck with raw data in the troubleshooting information. If there is a possibility here to add a screenshot of the thing, I would have.

The tab looks like the image below? If so, did you not as a Java Update. Have you downloaded the update of Java on the Java site or elsewhere? It was expected that some less honest people would provide false updates to Java. If it looks like the image below, follow these steps:

    1. With all browsers closed, in Control Panel > programs and features (or add / remove programs), if you see "Default tab" delete (you have no default tab 1.4.3 in the list of add-ons/prefs you have submitted with your question)
    2. Launch Firefox and check that 'Default tab' is not in the Add-ons > Extensions; If it is click on 'Remove' and then restart Firefox.
    3. You may need to set your homepage in Firefox, if a search page leading to 'Search results' or "My search results" is displayed at the start of Firefox - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page
    4. You may need to remove the 'search results' or "My search results" in your list of installed search engines in the top search bar on the right (click on the image to the left of the search bar, then choose "Manage search engines") - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-bar-easily-choose-your-search-engine#w_removing-a-search-engine

    Hi Mnor,

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base How to set the home pagearticle. Your home page might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc. (and it appears winzip) have been know to ask to become your homepage.

There are the steps in this article to reset your preferences on the default home page. I would try everything first to clear all strangeness. If it works, you can try to set your homepage again to your personal preferences.

If this does not work, you should look at article unsaved Preferences.

Finally, your problem may be because you have been hit by some malware.

    Hope this helps!

  • Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java

This seems to happen now on a regular basis. As soon as an add-on update firefox has struggle to detect the correct version

In this case, I get "Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java" have just installed the new version of Java (7-11). I restart firefox and it does not solve it, I reboot my machine and it does not solve it.

According to this bug on Oracle http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=8005410 site, the problem occurs because their installer does not correctly recognize older versions of Java and is compounded by a problem with systems using the standalone version of JavaFX installed.

So, if you see JavaFX in your list of installed programs (Windows: Control Panel), remove it. It would be better to remove all the Java from your system before installing the new Java.

I would recommend JavaRa to uninstall Java previous to your system, but, unfortunately, it has not been updated since October 2012 and does not and will not find any more recent versions of Java and/or registry keys files.

Oracle has published the update of Java 7 11 to resolve recently recognized in Java 7 update 10 and earlier versions. Update of Java 6 38 was not updated; support for the ends of the versions of Java 6 in February 2013.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review other cases and a list of documents to support further down the page, in which case one of them applies.

  • Major version of Java alert

    Hi all

I'm looking for any official or unofficial channel to warn that a major new version of java is being released.

I googled a lot and I've found after (interesting) results:

    - Access quick Java downloads

    - Updates of critical and alerts of security patches

But I have found nowhere any channel (RSS/Mailing list) to warn that a major new version of java is being released.

My goal is when on Java next major release is in release candidate status, so I can plan a test of regression in time (and bug fixing possible) java software that frees my company.

Any of you know any official/unofficial channel where can I subscribe?

    Thanks in advance.

    Good day.

  • Java plugin does not load on Firefox

I'm working on a machine without administrator rights. Firefox fails to load Java plugin even thought it is installed. Summer search internet and found this and this.
I checked the users on this machine really has only read access to HKLM\Software\mozilla.org. Is this the problem why does not load plugin? He said that this should be fixed in new versions of Java and FF.

    I use Firefox 11.0, Java 6 Update 13, Windows 7 Enterprise.

OK, I read about this problem on the mozillazine kb now...

You can try the following: go to start run & open %appdata%\Mozilla\, create a folder named plugins (where it does not exist). then you need to go to the directory of the java program and the subfolder bin (probably C:\Program Files\Java\j2re < version > \bin\) and copy all the .dll files that begin with np*.dll and paste them into the plugins folder you created before. This must be repeated for each user on the machine.

in the case where firefox then detects the plugin, I would recommend you keep the disabled plugin and activated only upon request (or use an extension like noscript to create a white list of trusted sites that can use the plugin). I have seen many infections than to exploit vulnerabilities in older versions of java, also on accounts with limited user rights...

  • After the "new version" download Java 6 times, my plugin check page indicates that he has disabled my 'version outdated' and asks me to upgrade. What do I do?

    Background:
I had this problem for several months now. This problem started when an update came to Java on the Firefox Plugin check. Quickly, I installed the new update of Java. But the Firefox update register that I downloaded, even though I refreshed the page. So, I got rid of the old Java and downloaded again the new Java. When the page has continued to post the same message he had before, I downloaded a few times more. Finally, Firefox stopped to say that I was at day. Then a few weeks later perhaps I check Firefox Plugin, and on the page it says that I'm overwhelmed in Java. So I downloaded Java again. But Java was still in the list, with the red and said that he had to be updated. I restarted the computer. Then I restarted Firefox Mozilla with no Add-ons. When Java appeared still to be updated, I gave up and did not something more on this topic.
    Problem:
Today, I decided to check my plugins. Java was not updating the list, and at the top a banner said, "Missing JAVA? For your security, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please install the latest version. "I clicked on"upgrade to the latest version"and was brought to the Java page. I clicked on the download button. My cache indicates that it was this same Java plug-in (see background) download (6). I chose the re - download anyway. But Firefox always insists on the fact that I him have not downloaded.
    Question:
Should I go to the control panel of Java and change something? I have to fix a few settings on Firefox? Should I disable Java entirely, delete all the files related to Java on my computer and start over with Java? What should I do?

Try to use http://ninite.com/java/ninite.exe to install Java. Please note that even if download you it you have to double click it to run and install.
