new WRT54G2 access point see an Internet cable modem connection

I probably set p 10 points of access router WRT over the years.

Linksys actually used to have a phone number of direct support in the past.

Anyway, I'll put up a new point of access (WRT54G2 V1.5) and went through all the steps, but the Internet connection was not detected during installation.

I am borrowing a modem Optonline (CableVision) that I am/was with my Apple Airport access point, so I know that the Internet connection is good/live.

Any help would be appreciated?

Thank you

Ralph

After a connection has dropped with the Linksys Chat, after two hours, I understood where the technician of cat was directed and started messing around with MAC cloning. The problem was that I use on a daily basis an Apple Air Port Extreme and I have been putting just the Linksys router as a test before I sent it to a friend.
None of the MAC addresses of all the computers I use does not work. Finally, I tried the MAC address using the Aple Air Port and then I had an Internet connection!

My company gave me a new laptop which allow no connectivity WEP. I went to the admin and everything set up for my taste, but for some reason any that it won't catch a connection... What should I do so that he could see the internet through the old router...

If you connect a router to another, connect the two together by network ports. Then turn off the DHCP server on the router of the second, which sounds like the WRT54G2 in this case. You may also have to reconfigure the second router local IP address out in the same IP range as the first router but outside the DHCP server on the router from the first milking. For example, if the local IP address of router then the router is on 192.168.1.1, two IP local to 192.168.1. 5 (or something of the sort).

Or autour routers and use the WRT54G2 as the main and several router that is configured for the secondary router WEP and turn DHCP on the secondary router. Other changes such as the reconfiguration of the local IP address of the second router must always be made. Or check your existing wireless devices configured for WEP see if they will support or can be updated for decision-making support WPA or WPA2. If so remove the existing router and use the WRT54G2 in its place.

Also, make sure that both routers have different names for SSID wireless and are on different wireless channels to avoid a conflict.

  • D6200 Access Point - 2.4 is no longer connects 99% of the time

Hi gurus, I have a D6200 which is defined as an Access Point (I have to use my ISP modem issued their secret squirrel nature do not share the parameters and limitations of VOIP, but that's another story). I had already used the D6200 before getting the NBN (Australia) and so why was happy to keep the same configuration of network with her now implemented as an AP.

In any case, served as AP all 2.4 and 5 without problems with things like my printer and Panel Solar Inverter only able to use the network 2.4. Like today I can connect is 2.4 (warned, saying: I have the wrong password)-had a power outage yesterday that could have an impact, but seems odd when only 2.4 network hit.

-J' have confirmed the password, delete all.

-Checked the channels for interference, all clear (tried a few others just in case where)

-Tried a simple power cycle, no joy.

-J' have done a factory reset, reconfigured AP, created with pre-existing, passwords and network names. 5 works fine, 2.4, no joy.

-An another factory reset and reconfigure but leaving name network and passwords according to the default. 5 works fine. 2.4... worked well on my iphone6, but not on my ipad (always get incorrect password). Unable to connect via 2.4 via macbook either.

-Just not changed my phone from 2.4 to 5 no worries, attempted to return to the 2.4 password and wants new and can no longer access

I am at a loss. I have seen many problems with 2.4 in the forums, but nothing that seems to relate directly to it (which has not been fixed with a simple factory reset).

    See you soon. Diving.

Ok. I can't explain it, but then nothing for a few days, connected to the computer today and was able to conenct to 2.4 did the same with the phone and the printer and everything back to normal. So I guess that the solution to this problem is to do nothing for a few days and hope for the best. I can't contact at all but I'm glad I'm not buying a new router in the meantime.

  • Do I need to have the conexant modem when I already have internet cable modem. I continue to receive messages from windows that I need to install a driver

I bought this computer used for the school. previously, the owner used AOL and dial-up. I have cable and a cable modem, so I removed the modem to see State of windows that they needed to install a driver for the computer to work. Also, I have windows 7 on my old computer, but have not been able to install it.

    Hi Crystal, azure

If you are using a router/cable modem, then you don't need to dial the modem conexant. If you are asked for the driver, then you can either install the driver or, if you want to get rid of the quite conextant modem you can remove the material completely, assuming you know how to do this. Of course, you will have to open your case and remove the conextant modem. For this I guess you have a desktop PC. A laptop would be more difficult to remove the conexant modem, unless the modem is a stand alone.

You give no details as to your problem of not being able to install Windows 7. More information will be required before anyone can really help you with this problem. An idea of what is happenning when you try to install windows 7 and error messages would be useful; What version of Windows 7 and whether retail or OEM. By the way if you try to install an OEM copy from another PC on your computer then you will obviously have problems like the copy so attached to the first PC OEM installed on the byt the PC manufacturer.

  • WAG320N and cable modem connection

    I have a small question,

You could point me to some reference material on my WAG320N configuration to use my modem cable via Ethernet 1 port. I saw that he mentioned it's possible, but I have been unable to me sorting.

And before ask you, I put the DSL router that I move in the next 12 months and my new base will not have access to cable internet and I'll be going back to DSL.

    Thanks in advance,

    Phil

Actually in this case your bad, but thank you for the quick response.

After a few game, it seems that the WAG320N is specifically configured to configure Ethernet Port 1 WAN port and you can route all internet traffic through the modem cable via the WAN port, you just set up.

If anyone is interested, then load up your routers page 192.168.1.1 default config.

    Click Setup

    - Ethernet

Next to Ethernet connection: select the button labeled radio like Port WAN

Most of the stand-alone cable modems will have a static IP address both under the list of connection

down box  Select the static IP address.

Enter the IP address of your cable modem, subnet mask, gateway and DNS address by default. (These items must have all be supplied by your ISP)

And finally click on Save settings at the bottom of the screen to validate your changes.

Then connect to your WAG via the Ethernet switch or wireless connection and you should be good for surfing the web.

I hope this helps someone else who tries to use a modem cable through the WAG320N or similar device.

  • Lose the wireless connection when the modem connects to the internet.

    Hello

I've updated my laptop to windows 7 (new installation).  I have a cable modem which is connected by ethernet to a wireless modem/router which I have configured to be a wireless access point (dhcp is the cable modem).  The laptop can connect wireless access point when the cable modem is not connected to the internet (so the ip address of the access point is 192.168.100.50 & the laptop takes an automatic ip address within the range). The problem is when I connect the modem cable to the internet, & so the ip address of the access point is derived the cable modem, the laptop can't connect to the access point. When I renew the ip address of the wireless card, it says it is connected to the selected network but the ip address is not correct, nor do I have access to the internet.

The laptop connects fine to pick up the new ip address when it is ethernet connected the access point when the cable modem is both on or off, so I can access the local access point configuration when the modem cable is off, & can access the internet when the cable modem is enabled. When it is connected with the cable modem access point wireless at sea, both my wireless & ethernet connection say that they are connected to the selected network, but as soon as I turn on the cable modem, wireless connection says it is connected to an unidentified network, but my ethernet connection is connected to the selected network.

I tried the broadcasting/no broadcast of the SSID, different levels of security, modification of the power saving options on the card wireless without success. I don't think it's a problem with the real network that the wireless card can capture the network & settings when the cable modem is disabled.

This Setup has worked well when I had win xp.  My mobile phone can capture the network without wire end also & is able to access the internet.  The driver for the wireless card is current as well as the firmware on the access point.

Can you please help? Thank you very much

    Hi Jack

You led me in the right direction with the MAC addresses on the cable modem.  It's a simple solution... turn off the cable modem so it would refresh the MAC addresses of connecting devices, & hey presto, I wireless & ethernet access internet on my laptop with wireless internet on my laptop.

    Thank you for your perseverance.

    See you soon

  • Connection of comments on the second WNR1000v3 as access point does not connect to Internet

I have a WNR1000v3 (firmware V1.0.2.68_60.0.93NA) connected to the WAN and it works well. His IP address is 192.168.0.1, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, mask and DNS servers are on 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4. DHCP is configured to 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.100. I have a guest connection configured and it works well.

I have a * second * WNR1000v3 (same firmware) bound to the first as access by using these instructions: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23784/~/how-to-automatically-configure-a-netgear-route...

I gave him the IP 192.168.0.2, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, and DNS servers again the value of Google. It has the same SSID wireless as the main router and I can move seamlessly between the two. The devices connected to the LAN ports on this access point work very well. Wireless connection works fine.

I then configured the connection even guest on the second router (the one running in access point mode) and I can get an IP address when I use it. However I can't access the Internet. Ping 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.2, and 173.194.33.137 (the IP local google.com) all fail.

Guest connection is not supported on a router functioning as an access point? Or am I missing something really obvious?

    Thank you

    Bill

@storm1985 I suspect that your configuration means that all the second router LAN ports will also forward only to the Internet. But this gives me a good idea to use another router just like an access point wireless for the connection of comments. (I seem to accumulate old routers.) Unfortunately, I don't have the time to try this out until late in the week, but I'll certainly do and report. Thank you!

  • Should switch BEFSR81 - wireless access point I use?

    Hello

I have a cable modem connected to a Linksys BEFSR81 switch under the stairs. It distributes points of LAN cable to every room of the House - it worked perfectly for years and continues to do so.

I need to add wireless (for iPhones etc.). I connected a Netgear WPNT834 DSL wireless router in a LAN points. It broadcasts a SSID I can 'see' on my iPhone - I can connect to it, but cannot access the Internet.

Looking good, I found the two devices by default the IP 192.168.1.1, so I changed the IP address on the BEFSR81 on 192.168.1.2. Still no access to the Internet via the wireless Netgear.

I guess that there is a relationship between the two devices share the bandwidth, but I'm at a loss to know where to start.

These two devices are not compatible, or is there a way to their cascade work together? Or, is it a point of access wireless (linksys or cheaper universal device) that I can plug into one of the LAN edge to add a wireless network to the existing local network?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Mikey'it,

The Netgear and Linksys are compatible when you want to set up this way. You must configure the Netgear router to a wireless switch. As disable the "router" function and DHCP. You must ask the Netgear support how to do it. Because the Linksys router works perfectly, you need to change anything.

  • setting up wrt150N as access point

    Hello.. Please bare with me.
In my previous House, I had my cable modem connected to a dlink wireless router. I used a port on the dlink lan and connected to my wrt150n that is configured as an access point. It has worked flawlessly. I was able to create a network and share files between computers regardless of what router they were physically connected to.

Fast forward a year and in my new House, I have a dlink WIRED router connected to my modem (different ISP) and to a lan port on the router im connected to the port of the wrt150n 'internet '. The computer is connected to the 150n can access the internet and the portion wireless works fine, but it does not connect to another computer that is connected directly to the router wired dlink.

    From the computer connected to the linksys, I can;

    router dlink ping

    router linksys ping

ping ip address ONLY, the second computer that is connected to the dlink router

    The computer connected to the dlink, I can;

    router dlink ping

I can not ping ip address AND name of the other computer

I cannot ping the router linksys

    Is happening here?

What setting should I watch these two computers to be on the same home network?

    Dlink ip address is 192.168.0.1

    Address IP Linksys is 192.168.1.1

He was installing it in my old House and worked well.

Unfortunately, my warranty is up and linksys don't offer me a tech support.

any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I really need my home network courses.

It's just the way you have implemented: you configured the WRT as router and so you have created two separate LAN segments and areas of broadcasting. Emissions of LAN will not cross a router. Name resolution for the WIndows work group works on the basis of emissions, either it works on the same segment of LAN never beyond a router. For example, if you want to keep this type of installation, you will need to use the IP address to connect to computers on the Dlink from computers on the WRT. Reverse is not possible at all because the WRT does NAT which makes LAN inaccessible on the internet port.

You want only the WRT as access point and you seem to want connectivity complete between all your computers I would say that you reconfigure the WRT.

    1. disconnect the WRT from D-Link.

    2. connect a computer to the WRT. Open the web interface at http://192.168.1.1/

    3. on the main configuration page, change the address LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.2 and disable the DHCP server.

    4. save the settings. You will lose the connection.

    5. unplug the computer and wire to one of the LAN ports of the WRT to your D-Link router.

That's all. Now all your computers to connect to the same local network and are in the same broadcast domain. All computers use IP addresses * 192.168.0 and have internet through D-Link.

Make sure that the DHCP server on the D-Link will not affect 192.168.0.2 to another computer or device on your network. This would cause a conflict of IP address.
