Newbe question about the network configuration of ESXi 3.5

I have ESXi 3.5 works well on a Dell Poweredge T300 server.  I want to connect a Netgear ReadyNas Pro Business Edition for this Dell and connect by iscsi.

I want to connect 1 network card of the ReadyNas for 1 network card on the Dell printer.

My question is on the Dell when I go to the ESXi server and customize by pressing F2 and goto network settings I see the following:

X vmnic0 embeeded nic1

NIC2 integrated vmnic1 used by vswitch1

I'm may be thick but can you explain what NIC on the ESXi server is used for access interenet and I need to configure for iscsi?  I thought that it should be obvious, but it is vmnic0 or vmnic1?

Your ESXi host has two vswitchs configured what uplinks to physical NIC in the system.

vSwitch0 what uplinks to vmnic0 (who, although a red x, indicating a problem seems to be very well) this vswitch holds you management interface (IP 192.168.2.107) and a portgroup of VM for your virtual machines. You also have an another vswitch vswitch1 what uplinks to GB NIC vmnic1. This vswitch has unused virtual machine port group. Also a VLAN ID has been set for this vswitch which would lead me to believe that VST is / was operating on that host in the past.

Haven't you set up this? If this isn't the case, I would get with one who did.

  • General question about DHCP network configuration

In the past, I've always set up printers on network with a static IP address. With the proliferation of networked printers and progress in the printer driver software, I wonder if the static configuration is always recommended and necessary.

Let's say I have install an Officejet 6500 wireless printer configured for DHCP and it gets an address 192.168.1.7. To continue, the printer driver is installed on the computers all networked and the printer port is listed as HPxxx192.168.1.7. After a break from running, say that the address assigned dynamically changes printer 192.168.1.5, leading to the question... to will the computers still be able to print to the printer who has now a new IP address? Basically, is the intelligent print driver so that he will direct the print jobs to the new address without additional configuration? (perhaps the answer varies depending on the printer model and the operating system of the client)

I have installed HP network printers on a regular basis in a variety of operating system environments. So the question in more specific general. I don't feel a particular problem at this stage. But when I configure network printers in the future, an answer to the question will be useful.

    Thanks in advance.

It depends on.  On older printers a static IP address is very important on the latest not so much. It is really dependent on the platform on which rests the HP software.  HP printers currentlyon market, in theory, do not need static IP addresses.

In addition, when you set a static IP address, I always put one outside DHCP pool.  If the range is the range (.2 a.254) I reduced the scope and then put printers outside the pool.  This way there is never any conflict.

  • My hard disk crashed - I have questions about the network now.

My hard drive crashed on the computer that was the computer on which the files shared.  We had a T: climb together on this computer where we recorded the files and programs that we wanted to share.  My questions are this... We have replaced the hard drive on this computer.  Do I need to set up the drive w: in this computer once again, on the other computer as well, since I'm not there, and if so how do I?  Thank you.

    Hello

Yes, you must redo the sharing.

Most of the network news are stored on the system which is located on the drive crashed, and now he's gone.

  • Questions about the network resource class.

    I am running Windows 7 Enterprise x 64 SP1.

In Windows Explorer, if I click on 'Network' in the navigation panel, it will browse the network and show me resources available network (see photo).

The resources are grouped into categories, such as 'Network infrastructure', 'Media Devices', 'Storage', 'Computers', etc.

I have two network storage devices: one of them is Western Digital MyBookLive (host name is "MyBookLive"), the other is QNAP TS - 469 Pro (host name is "QNAP").  I can access both by UNC (\\MyBookLive\Share, \\QNAP\Public, etc.).

I noticed that 'MyBookLive' shows in the 'Storage' category, which is the desired behavior.  But "QNAP" shows as "other devices."

My question is - how does windows rank network resource?  How does Windows know if a resource is 'Storage' vs 'Network Infrastructure '?

    Thank you very much!

  • A question about the network card set

    Hi all

In the vSphere Client, I can not change the type of a network card. But with PowerCLI, in case of power off the power of virtual machines, I can execute the following line:

    get-vm <virtual_machine_name> | get-networkadapter | set-networkadapter -type "vmxnet3"

Is it correct method to change adapter type? (I need to keep tha MAC address)

When you change the type of NETWORK card, Windows treats it as a new device.

You will have to redo all the IP settings on the map 'new '.

The easiest way is first get IP parameters, with the Get-VMGuestNetworkInterface cmdlet.

Then change the type of NETWORK adapter and then redefine the IP parameters with the Set-VMGuestNetworkInterface cmdlet.

  • Question about the filter configuration

    Hello Oracle Community,

I use P6 8.2 Professional. I have users who need to change the filters provided with the page layouts. The overall project manager does not change but I don't want to give them Admin superuser for Global profile. y at - it setting in the Global project manager to allow editing of filter?

    Thank you

    Hello

Unfortunately, there is only a single privilege associated with filters that ' Add/Edit/Delete Project/WBS Layout and filters' Global profiles and ' add/edit/delete project level Layouts' project profiles.

Two of them will give full access to the user of all of the project including editing page layouts filter layout, so in your scenario is better that each user save the provision available to the user in his machine and start editing according to its use, then it can re = save as overall layout.

  • Question about the Pof configuration file

How to determine what type of user to use when there are multiple matches consistency?

For example, if the interfaces allow is true and I type of consumer for java.util.Set and java.util.HashSet.

Now, if I put a HashSet object in cache, which consistency of the type of user will be used to serialize the HashSet object? Will be consistent research is best? Or use the first match?
If consistency using the first match, how can I ensure that consistency will find HashSet type of prior user set type consumer? Affect more small id-type?

    Kind regards

    Chen

    Hi Chen,

I just did a quick test. It seems that this type the most specific. So, in your example, it must use the registered user to HashSet type when you put a HashSet object in the cache. I don't know what it does, if your object implements two unrelated interfaces that are both specified in the config POF. My guess would be the first game. I'll try to check.

    Thank you

    Hello Thomas,.

Also, try using a different Ethernet cable or try to connect the player to another router's Ethernet port. He may be a problem with the Ethernet cable taking Ethernet to the router/player.

  • HP Envy 5540: Printer Hp Envy 5540 randomly printed the Network Configuration Page

    Hello!

I bought this printer about a month ago. Set up the connection to the printer wireless with my wifi, and my understanding is that the printer is protected like my wifi and use the same password in order to print something. I kept my printer connected and 'standby mode' since I put in place. The night last at about 23:00 when I was in bed, the printer turned on randomly and printed a "wireless network configuration page" that has had a lot of information, including the IP address and listing my name wifi as well as the names of my neighbors wifi in the surrounding apartments.

I'm trying to understand why this printed, because I certainly did not do. Anyone have access to my wifi, or has someone may simply try to print something and selected my printer as it should appear on the "list available connections on the computer of anyone, given that the printer is turned on? How could they print this sheet of network configuration if my printer is password protected?

I'm mostly concerned about someone who has access to my internet if they could print this page somehow, but maybe it happened just when they tried to connect to it, and it did not work while trying to fix MY printer?

I would appreciate any idea on the issue.

    Thank you!

    Hi @printerprob5540,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I saw your post on how your HP Envy 5540 randomly print a Network Configuration Page. I'm happy to help with this problem!

I find it very strange considering the only way to print the Network Configuration Page, AFAIK, is with the following steps:

    • Make sure that there are size A4 or US Letter, unused, plain paper in the feeder.
    • On the printer Panel, drag the screen to the left and then press Setup.
    • Touch tools.
    • Drag upward on the screen and then tap Network Configuration report.
    • A Network Configuration Page prints up to three pages of information.

    Hey guys -.

I just had a few questions about the differences between orders that seem to perform the same function.  Can you let me know if an order is more preferable to the other and what the difference is.  I would really appreciate it as it I currently practice some INE laboratories and I see that orders change from lab to lab.  Thanks advance!

    2. when I'm setting up a router as a CA server and it is necessary to "export" the key, whatever my method of exporting the key?  If so, in which method call for which solution?

I guess pertaining to 2, if i was speaking in terms of from a cisco router to another cisco router - would terminal be acceptable?

Yes, the "Import cryptographic key" command can take a url and also from the terminal entrance. In this terminal case wil is much easier.

If I understand the question, you want to export the AAA clients / network devices. You can get the aaa clients/devices information in excel sheet at the bottom of the steps:

Go to network setup > Search > maintains the search that is default parameter to search the entire. Press search. There will be a 'Download' option that will appear in the left corner of the search results. Click on save this list.

  • Questions about the implementation of clusters of storage and DTS on active cluster

I have a few questions about the implementation of clusters of data store and SRS storage in VSphere 5.1.

We have a data center with about 15 HP blades and a few servers non-lame.  The hosts are all either VSphere 5.0 or 5.1.  Our back-end storage is an EMC VNX 5700 with about 20 stores of data.  All the VMWare is managed by VCenter 5.1 running on a dedicated physical machine.

Currently, each data store is used individually; No piles of data store are put in place.  When a new virtual machine is created, the administrator usually chooses the data with the most space store.  Periodically, we will go back and manually storage vMotion machines to balance the load.

Recently, we have expanded the VNX storage, so we now have LUNS in different pools, with different levels of performance.

What I would do is set up for the data store clusters, so that us when a virtual machine is created, the administrator must not know what data store is in which pool.  Also take advantage of the DRS storage so that the burden of storage will be "refine" himself a little.

I know the setting up of a cluster of storage in a 'clean' environment is quite simple, but my concern is creation/conversion data warehouses existing in active production in the cluster, while they are used.

If I access the screen "data warehouses and store data from clusters ', right-click on the data center and create a cluster, and then move the various data stores in the new cluster, will there be an interruption in the production running systems?

I also wonder about activation of storage i/o control.  It is not currently enabled on data warehouses.  I know it's useful for the StorageDRS, but will be allowing any negative impact on the system?  If I turn on the warehouses of data, is there anything else I should do or set in addition to all that allows him?

Finally, we are in the process of Site Recovery Manager configuration.  SRS has an impact on the configuration of the data clusters and DTS store?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

    Gregg Robertson wrote:

    Hello

Clusters of data and using DTS store doesn't impact RS even if you create a cluster of data store for storage of replicated data and another for everyone else, this way you machines virtual you want to replicate are not moved on warehouses of data that are not replicated , but will still have the ability to move if there is a conflict.

    Gregg

With all due respect but SRM and DTS don't go together. SRM does not at all support the use of DTS. So if you are configuring SRM forget DTS for now.

Reason for this is that SRM knows no DTS and VMs can be in flight when a failover should occur, and bad things can happen. Also, the protection breaks when a virtual computer is moved between data warehouses in a cluster data store.

    In short: don't go there.
