Niether can send and receive in Outlook Express.

My computer crashed about 2 years ago. After restoring the computer and reload the essential programs, I found that I could not send emails and receive only. This has been acceptable to date because I use my laptop 90% of the time (where my email address works correctly with Windows 7 Professional). However my current system on my console is Windows XP and the mail is Outlook Express 2002). When I was earlier today downloading hundreds of my email address the system simply stopped with an error messge. See attachment: an unknown error has occurred. Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, error number: 0x800C0133. I am connected to the internet through Verizon FIOS and have checked with them that their link with me is not the problem that I can get the email on their website. Help, please.

Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

A router is a device that connects computers (or other type of computer
devices) to each other on a network and you can send files
from one computer to the other. It does not connect to the internet, and
you need a device called a modem vaguely to do this. The modem also
connects to the router and allows the computers on the network
(those connected to the router) to connect to the internet.

However, note that there are some available devices that are
router-modem combination. If your router is of this type, you do not have
    need a modem.

  • In Windows 7, I can send and receive faxes but when someone calls they hear static fax

Hello. IN WINDOWS 7, I CAN SEND AND RECEIVE A FAX, BUT WHEN SOMEONE CALLS ON THIS LINE AS A PHONE CALL, THEY HEAR FAX STATIC AND CANNOT CALL VIA.  HOW TO ELIMINATE THIS WHEN I RECEIVE A CALL REGULAR ON THE SAME LINE?

As previously stated the feature seek you, IE automatically switch the call fax or phone to answer, depending on the type of appeal are not a feature of win7 or any fax modem.

There were external devices, you can buy separately put the call to the fax or phone depending on the type of call received.

Personally when I had only the line I would activate only the fax when I received a call that was an incoming fax. IE, hang up the phone, and then activate the fax. Of course this works if you are in the unit.

Its probably easier to get a fax to e-mail service, assuming that you do not want a second line.

Always display the complete text and correct all errors when you ask about a problem.

ISPS don't like people using their networks to forward mail from other networks.  The symptoms you describe are usually the result of not properly is authenticating with the outgoing server or the use of a non encrypted SMTP connection (that is, port 25 instead of 587 or 465 or whatever your email port provider requires for encryption).

  • Yesterday, I could send and receive emails, today I can't. Webmail works fine. Help!

I checked with my ISP. All settings OK and I can send and receive e-mails on the webmail and a windows mail IMAP account OK. ISP tech support said the problem is certainly in Thunderbird. Beginning yesterday it worked fine, but the night last and this morning I can't send or receive e-mails. I have not modified parameters.

Check your firewall and make sure Thunderbird is not blocked. Sometimes an upgrade to a new version will appear in the firewall as a new program and it blocks.

The webmail and client e-mail use server completely different so all it proves is that you know your user name and password.

With regard to the correct settings, confirmed by the help desk, my more personal experience of the help desk cannot be a correct configuration if she got hit in the face. You can post your info troubleshooting here and maybe someone will be able to spot a problem. The title of the Help menu is troubleshooting Info. Then clear the check box to include personal information. Click on copy to C! ipboard then that stick to a window of response here.

Given that you can't send or receive the prime suspect is the firewall.
