Nighthawk D7800 fiber Modem?

I currently have PlusNet FTTC. My router plusnet causing problems and plusnet weren't much help as it was more than a year. So I had to go buy a new one.

I thought I read somewhere that I can use the D7800 as a router modem and fiber (replacing my BT fiber modem). However, I can't find all the information on how to set up in the manual. Only connect to my existing BT modem.

Is this possible? Is there (for a non router expert) information on how to do this? Or should I just stick with the BT one?

Thank you very much

Mark

I'm talking about me here!

In any case, it seems that my problems were to do with the firmware. I've updated to V1.0.0.44, done a reset and the wizard worked the first time. Not changed anything else, or what I entered. Who was also using the built-in modem.

  • Nighthawk D7800 and BT Infinity 2

My first time here so apologies for any errors of Protocol.

I bought the Nighthawk to replace my BT Homehub 3 and a modem to connect to broadband Infinity 2 (fiber).

I managed to connect to the internet via the BT modem so I know the system works. What I want to do is to connect the modem to the Nighthawk directly to the internet. I don't think that this can be done unless someone can tell me otherwise.

I, the tongue in cheek, contacted BT and confirmed that they use a system of wiring on the telephone connection to connect to fiber (FTTC) via the copper to the home line, which is unique. The phone connector uses only the Center contacts both in the plug, connected to which wires I don't know, while the Nighthawk uses all four threads, it seems. BT does not use a filter on the line because it is built in the area of incoming phone line. So the Nighthawk can only connect directly from the VDSL Jack to the telephone line. The internet connection on the Nighthawk decision-making only connects to the BT modem.

So, is it possible to connect to the fiber using the Nighthawks modem? I've conversed with support from Netgear and in their described wisdom and got sent - the manual method of Nighthawk, which I already explained did not have what I wanted. I'm still waiting for a further response from support, but not holding my breath.

It seems that I bought a very expensive router!

    Michael,

    Popular sympathy.

My Nighthawk played happily with internet provided that I have connected through my BT modem. The reason why I got the D7800 was because I wanted to use it a modem not BT proposing to connect to my fiber (sic, English).

I don't think right now that Netgear has a modem that is able to connect to the infinite fiber BT service.

I think I'll draw a line under this thread and concede defeat.

    Thank you

Try to get to work with my new router Chromecast. No problem of installation, but when I try to stream from an app that is not able to set up a connection.
When you use app chromecast I can do a factory reset and configure everything, but then get message may not notify the Chromecast device.

  • Problems with connecting fiber and new router AirPort

I installed the fiber optic connection to replace my cable modem connection... I have a network of airport for a long time. When I bridge router ISP in my airport network that there are multiple problems. The major is that when you plug the ethernet cable from the modem ISP Ethernet port on the WAN of Timecapsule port all the TC LAN ports go dead. (the ISP's modem has already a cable ethernet in the WAN port or the first port that comes from the optical network Terminal that the fiber optic cable to connect from the outside). I talked to the ISP and they say just use any ethernet port to connect to the WAN port on the TC. On their end, they say everything is connected and works... then it's the Apple... I bought a new TC and changed my ethernet cables, but all I can establish is a wireless network. My network is itinerant and all of my extremes are connected with cables, but all on my main TC LAN ports are dead. I rebuilt my network and the same problem... And I think that the culprit is ports LAN TC is off

Unfortunately, Apple has designed their routers airport to work with a standard cable and DSL type connections. The fiber is a whole new game ball, and Apple has not yet learned the rules of the game, so you may or may not have a really hard question.

When you plug the ethernet cable from the modem ISP Ethernet port on the WAN of Timecapsule port all the TC LAN ports go dead.

Before you connected to the fiber "modem" Time Capsule, did first reset you back to default settings... and then... set up again I hope to work with the fiber optic router?

If this isn't the case, you need to do whenever you change providers or the modem that the Time Capsule connects to.

All other devices that might be connected to the time Capsule should be turned off and unplugged.

Then, if the time Capsule can be configured to work with the "modem" fiber, you can connect devices to the time Capsule one at a time to ensure that each of them is working before connect you to the other.  It may be necessary to reconfigure some or all devices that are connected to the time Capsule so that everything works again.

Bottom line here... get the time Capsule working first with the "to modem" fibers.  Then start to add other devices to time Capsule one at a time.

  • Wireless Deskjet 3520 on broad-band fiber

    Hello friends,

Currently I have my Deskjet 3520 multifunction wireless installed on my home network, (a laptop and a Deskjet) and am upgrading to a facility broadband fiber this Monday, July 8.

The upgrade will involve the use of a new brand high-speed fiber modem/router, and I would like to know if I have to completely reinstall my all-in-one Deskjet 3520 to establish a wireless network between my Deskjet and laptop (Windows 7 OS), or can I skip some steps in the manual for the installation of the Deskjet printer?

Any guidance would be appreciated. I look forward to your responses.

    Thank you!

In theory, if you give your new network (router) namesake exact network (SSID), type of encryption (WPA, WPA2, etc.) and password for the printer should re - connect without problem.  If none of this is even the slightest different you will need to re-install the printer.

If you use Windows, you will need to go to start > all programs > HP > [your printer model] > IP update.  If you use a Mac, of course, there will be no such problems.

  • NETGEAR AC5300 x 8

    Hello

    Is this router support VDSL?

    Greetings,

    Mario

I think what you want is AC1900 Nighthawk VDSL/ADSL Modem Router Netgear, because the R8500 is a Wireless router that connects to a modem (that determs if your DSL connection or cable).

    Hope that answers your question.

I completely reset my router and brand new to the default configuration and the same problem is still there.
Plugged into my router by default ISP that I have ever used and the value that up and theres no problem.
Side note, my ISP router does not require the need to use a fiber modem, I think maybe the question could be the modem and not the router.

No idea why I didn't try this earlier, pressed the factory key which solved the problems of reset >. >

  • Airport Extreme router's Express is connected by wire, East of 1 Gbps ports on switch it extreme on 100Bt now?

    Hi all

In my house, the extreme is connected to a fiber modem 250 / 250 MB/s and I plugged a time Machine as an Express via CAT6 UTP. All serve as a router and provide 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi on the different floors of the House. Just a question: Express has 2 ports ethernet 100BT, Extreme and Time Machine have 3 1000BT Ethernet ports. The extreme switch mode back all 100BT because of the Express ports?  Because that would explain the downgrade in the port on the extreme speed after that the PS3 has been used connected to the Express.

The extreme switch mode back all 100BT because of the Express ports?

No.... but any device connected to the Terminal AirPort Express will have a maximum speed of 100 Mbps. So, if you connect a 1 000 compatible device to the Ethernet port on the Express, it would appear as a device of 100 Mbps on the network as the Express is limiting speeds.

So, if you want a device that is capable of 1 000 Mbit/s to have 1 000 Mbit/s speed on your network, it will have to connect to AirPort Extreme or time Capsule.

  • Airport Extreme bandwidth

Hello I have 1 Gbps internet and an Airport Extreme. But my airport extreme speed 80 MB/s why?

AirPort Extreme is designed to correspond with an ADSL modem or cable normal, while we are seeing a number of reports from users with connection difficulties when a fiber connection is involved. We won't say at the outset that the AirPort Extreme will not deliver the goods with a fiber connection, but it is a real possibility.  We'll soon know in your case.

We need more information to start to fix things like this...

You have swapped the Ethernet cable from the fiber "modem" to AirPort Extreme?

Is this a CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cable?

If you think that the Ethernet cable works properly, how did you check that? (A 'new' cable does not mean that it works)

What camera do you use to check the speed?

If you are using a Mac, we need to know what operating system they are running

Is that the 80 MB/s is the result of a direct Ethernet connection between your computer and one of the LAN ports on the AirPort Extreme <-->?

Is that the 80 MB/s is the result of a Wi - Fi connection?

Once we have some basic information, we will ask you to verify some settings in AirPort Extreme.

  • LRT224 hickups: abandon the WAN connection?

    Hello

my new LRT224 shows hickups in my regard.

It is connected to a fiber-optic 100Mbps of my ISP connection.

If I try to stream video, it creates every minute or so a second or two to break up the transmission.

Obviously, this breaks my video stream.

The newspaper of the device (see below), says 'WAN connection fell', which seems rather strange and unexpected for me.

If I don't stream video and data binding is almost at rest, these messages of 'WAN fell' intermittent continue.

If I take the LRT outside and connect my PC directly to the line of ISP (Yes, bad practice) I don't have these hickups, and fine video streams (to a few Mbps).

I have updated the firmware to v1.0.1.01 but that has not made a difference.

In fact, I have disabled the 2nd WAN port.

"Dual WAN', the 'activate the Network Service detection' is not marked in the config. By selecting "Connection failover" or "Load balance" shows no difference (no improvement).

No idea why the LRT report "WAN connection is dropped?

I need urgently a solution, but the issue seems beyond my skills...

(In the newspaper, I also see "violation of policy. I don't know why they happen: I have no rules of firewall on the LAN or WAN IP addresses...)

    Thanks for any idea!

    Hello

Thanks for your replies!  I looked in the settings and methods to verify this behavior.

In the end, I decided that the behaviour of "drop the WAN" is not not to blame the LRT224: it seems really to be created by the ISP (the fiber modem): when I plug a small switch between the router and the modem 'abandonment WAN' messages have disappeared.  Now I 'just' convince my ISP to do something...

I am not an expert in using 3rd world software, but what I've read they (which ever you use) have a process of reversal at each version. I don't know if a traditional process of TFTP would work if a third world THAT FW has been installed.

I'm tempted to try a no nitgear on my r7000 version in the near future.

  • Compatibility of BT with Nighthawk modem router D7000

    Hi all, looking for help.

Been on Google for the better part of 4 hours, at PC World and on the phone to Sky and BT.

Long story short is that I have been fucked by Sky. Then cancelled and now the day 14 expect BT broadband.

My new purchase of the D7000 Nighthawk NETGEAR will be compatible directly from the telephone via the DSL filter Jack?

Sky said that flat purely and simply that they do not support the 3 devices. So don't give me the IP username or password. But BT said they do. If my router modem of nighthawk will work as soon as the signal passes from sky to BT?

Please help a total noob. I want to know if I would return my Nighthawk if it doesn't work, and just use the standard BT hub?

    Kindest regards

    New owner of Nighthawk

    In short, Yes.

Just make sure that you run internet set up the thing again through the log from netgear, and you'll be ready to go.
