No administrator user account.

I put up 2 new accounts of the user in addition to the administrator account when I logged into the admin account to check that everything was working the main administrator account has gone I have tried everything and I am unable to get it back.

It comes to the way Windows works. (This is a feature, not a problem).

Windows allows you to automatically hide the built-in Administrator account when any additional user is created.  The administrator account is still there and you can still sign in it, but to connect on it, you will need to use the classic logon screen.

When the login screen appears with two other users, simply type Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice.  This will bring up the classic login window.  Just type in 'administrator' in the user name box and the password associated (if any) in the password box and you should be able to connect.

FWIW: It is recommended to create a new [third] user with administrator privileges for the time that you need an administrator account and let the built-in account hidden for disaster recovery purposes.

  • Problem with the administrator user account

    When I connect to my administrator user account a Windows Sidebar message immediately rises:

    "Settings.ini is being used by another process. Close the other program, and then click Retry, or click Cancel to exit sidebar. »

    If you "move" the files/folders to PUBLIC folders, you can then access them when you are in the new admin account and then you can place them in your personal folders.
    If you do not Move To and copy to options in your context menu, here is the tutorial to "help":

    You can change your password to something that you remember another administrative user account. If you had only an administrative user account and you have forgotten the password, all is not lost. You can then follow the general recommendations for implementing user accounts in Vista that I will give you at the end of this post.

This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode. Get to this menu by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts.     General recommendations for creating users in Vista:

    You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

    In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult.  It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but there may be more that you want to do. Better not to put you in a bad situation at first.

    The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

    If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

    Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
    Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

    Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK.     Since you were using the command prompt window when you created the new user, I just assumed you have made using the command:

    NET user newuser * / add

    where 'newuser' is the name of the new user?

    Did you also give this privilege to administrator newuser entering control:

    net localgroup administrators newuser / add

    While logged as administrator?

    It would be necessary to perform the actions that you are trying to do.

    I bought an Inspiron 17 7737 directly from dell.com on 05/12/2013.  It was delivered 12/182013.  The operating system was Windows 8.  I had assumed that he would have the last version of Windows when it has happened since 8.1 was released in October.     You are not alone. Many have had the same problem with no resolution. I think there's something funny to do with user accounts. Making a second account with admin privleges does not work. I would try to reinstall the operating system of hidden image and try again. A refresh like tried Dell will not do because it retains much of the data before the update; you need a clean start. Do nothing witht the account Admin other than to let Windows put up and set your password. All updates must be installed before the upgrade is displayed in the store. I have improved five facilities to win 8 and have had zero problems.

    When you create your database, you this place in the application package or you use the applicationStorageDirectory?  I think that should work in the repository, it would be problematic if you're using a location such as your application directory (or any place under Program Files) because this would require elevated privileges.

    You should right click on the Windows logo in the bottom left.  Select the order Prompty (Admin).  Once it opens, copy and paste the command sfc/scannow in the screen after the prompt C:\ and press ENTER.  It should start the scan.
