No boot disk found during the installation of windows 7 in the new hard drive by using the original recovery disk

Hello

My laptop is HP - Pavilion dv6 2165-tx. My old hard drive damaged and so bought a new one.

New hard drive works fine. (He went from main hard drive test)

Now, to install the operating system, when I insert the recovery disc in my CD, I get the error message-"no boot device press a key after the insterting startup disk."

How can I go about this now?

Thank you for your contributions.

I've installed windows 7 using my recovery disk. Problem is that my objective optical drive was not clean, which resulted in the error.

  • Installation of Windows 7 in a new hard drive

    Hello

I would like to replace my hard drive with an SSD laptops.

I have burned DVD that were made when I started my computer.

Can I install WIndows on the new hard drive with the CD? If not, how can I get a copy of windows for my new hard drive?

    Thank you very much

    Luis

    Hi, Luis:

Unless the SSD is about the same size as the mechanical hard disk, that you deleted (probably not), your recovery disks will not work.

    You will get an error.

I have a solution for you...

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Also, if there is a folder named SWSetup on your hard drive C:\, copy off the coast and he should have subfolders that have most of the driver and Setup files supplied with your laptop (except Office Starter 2010).

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Install Windows 7 on the new hard drive with USB operating system recovery?

I have an Alienware 2015 15 which does not come with a CD player. I install a new hard drive (SSD 2280 m2), so the question is how to install WIndows 7.

While Microsoft offers an OS IOS for WIndows 8 download that you can put on a USB (with dell, I think that it automatically pulls the product key of BONE off the coast of the motherboard?) this IOS download is not available for Windows 7.

So the question is the recovery USB OS offered by dell will allow me to do a fresh install of Windows 7 on a new hard drive in the laptop even USB from recovery of the BONES came with. My last resort is to buy a new copy of windows 7 and a USB external CD/DVD drive.

TLDR: OS Recovery USB offered by dell will install Windows 7 on a new hard drive.

The factory restore USB will work on another drive. I did this procedure with the media created from the latest version of Dell backup and restore on my Inspiron 13 7347 and demonstrated the creation of media and installation on a new SSD:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/Dell-backup-and-recovery/

Since you are using use Alienware Alienware Respawn. Alienware respawn is very similar to Dell backup and restore.

  • transfer the copy of windows xp on a new hard drive

My 6th sense tells me that my hard drive is about to fail.  I want to clone this HARD and then replace it with the new clone HARD drive.  Copying valid OEM xp (xp Home Edition, SP3) on my current HARD drive, failing will transfer without problems for the new HARD drive so that when I replaced the current HARD drive with the new and turn on the computer, it starts straight upward as usual?  Thank you.

At the start of my hard drive makes strange noises, I used the program Norton Ghost 2003 disk cloning my XP Pro, SP3 hard disk. I used the switch of ib (boot image) when I did and when I started the cloned disk was not disabled. Windows found new hardware (the player) and after a little while that I should restart. I clicked the button to do it and everything was fine, then.

Note: I bought the retail version of the Ghost of Norton program. It is not a free software.

  • Errors in the world when you try to reinstall Windows XP on a new hard drive.

    Original title: errors everywhere!

    Hi all:

I recently bought a new hard drive (seagate momentus xt) for my older PC toshiba M70 laptop. I tried to re - install Win XP on the recovery disk (which came with the laptop) but I got a black screen with cursor. I repeated the collection, same thing. To check that all was well with the disc, I scanned and then installed ubuntu 9.04 it work perfect! What is interesting is that in the prior installation, he showed that win xp has been installed on the disk. Then I tried to re - install win xp - then I got this error Grub 17... I went back with the facilities and now I'm at a point where I get a message "error: unknown filesystem grub rescue >" (after the installation of ubuntu 11.04, then windows again). I don't know what to do. What I want is my xp back, I can't get ubuntu. Help, please.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ARolle,

    ·         It is reinstall drive?

Method 1: Load default BIOS (Basic Input\Output System) settings, and then restart the computer. Make sure that you have the CD drive set as first boot device. Check the settings by consulting the manual or call the manufacturer to do so.

Note: Be careful when you change the BIOS settings. The BIOS interface is designed for advanced users, and it is possible to change a setting that can prevent your computer from starting properly.

Method 2: Try to boot from the CD and see if you can start the installation.

Contact Toshiba to get more information on the type of disc you use to reinstall Windows.

  • Acer recovery disks do not install Windows 7 on a new hard drive SSD

    Hi all!

I have Ace Aspire 5742 G laptop and I have problems to install the Windows 7 operating system on my new hard drive SSD (I bought the SSD because the original hard drive is defect and do all the time... blue screens)

For the factory restore, I use the restore disks. I burned the discs a few years back when the laptop has insisted me to do (using eRecovery or something, in total 3 dvds).

Testing of computer to install the operating system with the DVD (asked to insert a dvd and then press a key). The real problem is that the installer will just in loops, restart and eventuallyfreezing in the end...

    Restart--> Acer--> Windows logo takes over... files-> from windows-> reboot-> etc.

Which continued for more than an hour (on the first dvd!) and all of a sudden that it froze right on screen "starting windows..." I had to restart and stars on again once.

I can still use my old formatted HARD drive, should I do the new set of recovery disks or use a USB?

Thanks for the answers in advance!

I was not able to edit my previous post, so I'll make a new...

So I thought (with the help of Google) that the problem was that I had installed the new DDR3 memory game. When I changed them back to the original ones (2x2gb) everything worked smoothly.

    anyway. Thanks for the help!

  • How can I reinstall the window 8 for a new hard drive?

I just got a new hard drive for Dell to replace the old, which is at the top and about to fail (according to the Dell diagnostic tool).

Reference Dell included a record called 'Restoration of Windows 8 for Windows 8 64-bit products Support'

I'm a layman, but can certainly replace the hard drive. What exactly should I do it (step by step, if possible) when I turn on the computer for the first time with the new hard drive in place. The disc should already be in the optical drive?

    Thanks, Alex

There is not much to be done in any real particular order really.  It won't hurt to have the disc in the drive the first time that you start with the new player connected, but even if are not the worst case, you get a "no OS on this disc, press ctrl + Alt + Del to restart".

When start you, you may need to press a special sequence on the keyboard like F2 or DEL or Escape to boot from the CD. He can say so on the screen, or it can just try first default (likely) CD.

In any case, once you start from the CD, it is a wizard from there. Simply press 'next' and 'agree' and all that jazz to what Windows 8 is installed back. Then search for updates & restart for the next 4 days :)

  • Installation of Win XP on a new hard drive with the new motherboard

I have currently baught a new motherboard and hard drive.  I tried to load XP on a new 250 GB Western Digital SATA 2.0.  When you run the Windows Setup program formats the hard disk to NTFS and then said the system will restart and launch the installation.  Upon reboot, new XP starts the Setup program and wants to format the drive again.  It shows her format partition and when I go to format again once it is said that in doing so, I would be deleting files from windows that have already been installed on the system.  Why does this happen?

Set the BIOS for SATA "Native IDE" then I deleted the partition.  RELOADED windows and the problem has been resolved.  Thanks for the help.
