  Just a quick comment: I use the M70 Satellite with the same card WLAN. Last week I installed the latest driver WLAN of the Toshiba download page. I also installed Intel PROSet, but I use Windows WLAN configuration.

  If you want to disable Intel PROSet and just use Windows WLAN configuration press F10 and confirm with YES. You can use WPA encryption, but be sure that you set WPA - PSK (no server) option and choose between two Techniques of encryption (TKIP or AES). On my router default is TKIP. The same settings that you can find in the WLAN Properties on the wireless networks tab.

  If you want to use zero (recovery CD), you can reinstall Windows XP Home edition only.

  You are absolutely right on this Intel WLAN card. I checked some books forum and many other users have similar problems with different laptops (different producers but the same map).

  I noticed that this card make a trouble with different routers. A friend of mine has Satellite M40 with the same card and has no problem with the Netgear router, but with my Belkin one drops the connection permanently. We did the test with US Robotics router and the connection was not good enough.

  Unfortunately, there is nothing to see. The only solution is to swap the WLAN card and built the other one (Agere or Toshiba one).

  I got flashed unslung 6.10 on my NSLU2. After unslinging this thing to make it possible to boot from the HARD drive and install more packages, it order get an ip address. After you remove the disc and try also to reformat in Ubuntu (vmware) the NSLU2 still does not have an ip address. It is not the router, already checked that.

My problem was that I had a USB Wireless Dongle of Panda, who performed in the secondary channel (high way) but ridiculously low in the primary (Channel Low).   Must be something simple which I don't because my old D-link router works perfectly well. Windows XP, LAN cable connection. I am able to actually connect to the network with the linksys wireless, don't configure the router, no problem; the computer is clear to see the packages, but I can't connect. I tried power off, recycling the modem, all that and still no connection. I even thought that the router has been bad, after talking to "geek squad" to best buy so I had another router, same exact model and it does the same thing. All the lights on the router are on. I see no evidence of any problems and as I said, there is no problem using my old router. I was trying to upgrade to the linksys. No idea.

  Solution was this: while I was able to access the internet using my old D-link router, I discovered that I couldn't connect to the internet with the cable DIRECTLY to the modem without the router. AHA! Problem was in fact on the end of the ISP. They had to reset the modem.
