No display after installing linux on Satellite A100

Hi all

The weekend, I decided to install linux on a partition on my toshiba satellite a100. I did a new install of windows from the recovery cd and everything worked fine. I then installed linux on an extended partition and my computer does not display anything on startup - (the LCD has a backlight) and I get all the beeps and reads it from CD etc. The strange thing is that I can plug it into an external monitor and it works fine. When I start with an external display I can then go to the LCD screen and I get a screen but it is very slow and has a lot of flaws.

I've updated the bios, installed the latest graphics drivers (ati), but still no improvement. Since the linux install I deleted the partition scope and installed windows from the restore CD (still no improvement).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try next?

Thank you in advanced for your help.

Ask what you can do?
Delete and format the whole HARD drive and reinstall the OS from the recovery CD.
If you want to use Linux, I advise to use a Knoppix. You can get it on the Live CD and it s not necessary to install it on the HARD drive.

  • Can I install Linux in Satellite M200?

    Hi all

I want to install Linux in Satellite M200, but I don't know it's the driver in charge or not, please give me advice.

    Thank you
    Nhanntit

Of course, you can install Linux on the Toshiba laptop.
BUT you won't find any driver Toshiba or tools for the Linux operating system.

Toshiba does not support official Linux and that's why the pilots are not released.
You will need to use the Linux drivers from chipmaker like Intel IE

A hint; I use the Knoppix Live CD I n t need to install anything. I boot from this CD and the functional complete using Linux ca ;)

  • After having cleaned my Satellite A100 display no longer works

I opened my Satellite A100 to make sure it is clean. After opening it, I decided to close this back. After I put all the screws, and I turn on the laptop, there is no display on the screen but the mother/processor board works very well.

Also, I reopened the laptop and checked the material and saw that near the port where you can connect a monitor, the white piece of hardware are separated, if I can connect these two back, I think I can make it work.

    Can someone help me please?

    Hello

Looks like you have accidentally disconnected (removed) the FL inverter cable or video cable that connects the screen LCD with the jury.

Usually it of not recommended and not recommended to disassemble the laptop if you have no experience. During this process other parts can be damaged and therefore jobs must be performed by a technician for laptop.
I see that you have already opened the laptop and the warranty is not valid.

It of always difficult to explain this procedure and so I goggled a bit and found this page useful:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A105/remove-replace-LCD-screen-1.htm

The laptop described on the page is a Sat A105 but very similar to A100
    Good luck and be careful.

  • Bluetooth not working not not after reinstalling Win XP - Satellite A100-712

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite A100-712. He took BT BT worked perfectly before reinstalling windows. I reinstalled windows using the original Toshiba Recovery CD. After you have reinstalled, BT is no longer working. Monitor of BT icon does not appear. When I swicht BT on (Fn + F8 or "manual switch on the lid of the laptop) it starts installing bluetooth. But the installation progress bar stops at some point and that's all. I tried waiting etc, but nothing helped.
You can only cancel the instalation.

I tried several versions of BT software, but even with the original - provided on the recovery CD, it doesn't. I am attaching the screenshot. As far as I know, the problem is quite common, but I have found no satisfactory solution...

I hope you can help me with this!

    p. s.

the screenshot says: installation of the BT device. Please wait...

    Hello

You are right. The A100-712 supports Bluetooth without a doubt.
Then you should be able to install the BT stack correctly.

As mentioned; BT can be activated properly using FN + F8 and installation starts as well, but he does not terminate
Hmm I'm not quite sure what could cause this but maybe his problem of m system software.
I think it is to recover the laptop once more
Activate BT, then check if the progress bar would begin and could complete the installation.

  • x 360: delete the recovery partition after installing Linux

    Hello

My x 360 laptop with 10 Windows works fine. I just installed Linux dual boot (w. Windows 10) on three new partitions. The scores are as below. E, F, G partitions are Linux.

    I have these questions please:

    1. is the recovery partition (D) no longer, now that I have partitioned the disk? (I did a recovery USB flash drive when I bought the computer)

    2. is it safe to remove the recovery partition (D)?

    3. There is also a small partition of 980 MB. What is c? Is it safe to remove?

    Thank you

    YCC

Sorry, no.  You can not recover by using the HP Recovery partition after you change the partitioning scheme.

As it is now, you might as well delete it.

It will not hurt to remove it now because the HP Recovery works doesn'y work in any case.

I know Macrium Reflect can backup and restore Windows and Linux distros because I have tried it, myself.

    Good luck

  • Cannot install VISTA on Satellite A100 graphics card driver

    Hi all

    I need help.
I just installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my Satellite A100-326, (series PSAA9). This system has a graphics card from NVIDIA® GeForce Go 7300 with 256 MB dedicated memory that has worked very well on Windows XP MCE!

I suggest you make a set of HP recovery disks or USB recovery media before deleting access recovery.

Deactiviating Recovery Manager is too easy.

    Remove the recovery partition.

Are you sure you want to do this? Activation, it is much more difficult.

I hope that you advise your friend aware of the consequences of the removal of the partition.

Why not run a live version of Linux Mint from a USB key instead?

  • HARD drive click after update Bios on Satellite A100

    Hello.
I just did a bios update for my Satellite A100 PSAA9, and after that I started to hear a few clicks on the hard drive, from time to time. They appear very often, but I would like to know why they started!

The bios update was published in 26/11/2007.
Does anyone have the same problem?

    Thank you.

I put t think it has something to do with the BIOS update.
I put t don't know how old you HDD is but maybe that click concern only the HARD drive hardware problem

There are several times in my HARD disk created similar clique and sounds but it s runs great
I didn't noticed any hardware problem however, we cannot exclude a hardware problem and therefore, you should back up important data to prevent the files from damage.

    Best regards
