no empty disc appears empty

I have Vista Ultimate SP1 and a drive DVD Sony DVD RW AW-G170S. Recently, when I put a CD or DVD in the drive, Vista will think she of a Virgin and wants to format or burn on it. He does this with commercially pressed discs wll like those that I wrote to myself. She does it with records, he was able to show in the past. I tried different solutions as the upper and lower filters in the registry, change the setting of the autorun, uninstall and let Vista detect again and update the driver (which didn't work because apparently, he got the latest driver already). So I don't see a list of the files on a CD or DVD.

But, if I run a command prompt, then I peut see all files using the DIR command. The DVD drive is so physically OK. But any attempt to access a CD or DVD using Explorer Windows (or any other GUI application) translates into an attempt to format or burn it to disc. He did 12 months ago, when the computer was still under warranty and has been fixed, and I was told that it is a known bug in Vista. But now it's out of warranty and do it again and the computer store won't tell me that they have done to solve this last time. It was probably different for the patches, I've already mentioned.

Hello

Sounds like you were pretty full on your troubleshooting. Yet, it can be useful to run the fixit to the Microsoft KB on the topic: "your CD or DVD drive cannot read or write media. link is here: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cd_dvd_drive_problems if that does not solve the problem, it may give you some additional information on the issue that will be.

Hope this helps,

  • copying a disc - __copied photos on computcomputer with Windows XP-computer Vista laptop and will not open the program

Copied pictures on a computer using Windows XP

Disc will not load on my laptop with Vista

Is there a program to load the disk or is it just copies of some images.  So just copies, then the disc will not 'load' because there is no program to run.  Insert the disc in the drive and click Start / computer / player Disck and right click it and select Explorer.  You should be able to see the folders and files with your photos.  You can or the disc appears to be blank or missing?

If the problem is that by clicking on the file does not open a program to display it, and then confirm that your Vista machine has software installed to read the file type of the images (they may require that you get a different software to view what they are).

If this isn't the problem, try to copy some files from the disc to your desktop computer and try to open them from there and see if that makes a difference.  If so, then there is a problem with the drive to recognize the types of files, and then by selecting the appropriate program.  You should maybe go to the web site of the manufacturer of the drive and download any driver, firmware and suitable for the machine AND your version of Vista.  Install it and see if that makes a difference.  Check out a few other discs and see if you have the same problem with them or if it's only this one disc.

What type of disc is (CD, CD - R, CD - RW, DVD,...)?  Confirm that you can read stll the drive on the XP machine.  Do you get the error on each machine and if so what do say EXACTLY?

I hope this helps.  If not, tell me what happened with each step and try to answer all my questions.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite L655: Problem transfer photo files from DVD - rom

Recently bought a Satellite L655 with Win 7 and Mat * a BD - Rom drive.
A friend copied a bunch of pictures on a DVD disc.

I'm unable to access these photos on the laptop (the disc appears empty), but I am able to see very well from my PC running Windows Vista.

I am at a complete loss as to what could be the problem here, and would appreciate any help to solve this.

    Hello

In my opinion the disc can be read correctly perhaps due to the incompatibility between the disc and the ODD.

try to copy this disc in another drive (DVD) from another manufacturer that has been tested successfully in the past that I had similar problem with my CD/DVD drive in the past

I tried different discs from different manufacturers and finally I made good experiences with TDK DVD-R and CD - R discs
Not sure if this drive would also be ok for you, but I think it's worth a check!

  • organizing V13 refuses to open

I installed yesterday v13. Open PSE and it was very nice - open Organizer and it was beautiful - enabled him to update my catalog (from v9) and everything was fine. Wound up. This morning there was a large update to Camera Raw, which I have allowed. PSE opened fine after the update but the Organizer will not open no matter what - I get a notice that organizing has encountered a problem and that Windows will search for an answer and let know me if there is. I even tried to reinstall the v13 and still the same problem... What should I do now?

Just a heads-up... I found the answer (I surely hope anyway)

    1 uninstalled PSE v13

2 used CCleaner to delete additional files

3 tried to reinstall from the disc - appears during the withdrawal of the program it took away something that was needed to run my DVD burner device (DVD player) Said working properly - but will NOT play the DVD Adobe... (still not sure if it works or not)

4 went to Adobe and downloaded the trial version

5 added my ID # box when asked

    6. the Organizer still not open

7 open v13 and 13.1 applied update Editor

    8. the organizer would not always open

9 open Organizer in v9 - and created new empty catalog

10 renamed the old catalog files

11 Organizer v13 and was FINALLY able to create a new catalog! and the open Organizer!

Mind you, I've repeatedly tried to create a new catalog file but Organizer 13A constantly crashed before leave me... I 'think' the secret was created PRIOR to a new catalog in my v9 program and then try in v13... Impossible to say with certainty - just know that I have installed, reinstalled (more first install everything in case there was a small problem first), uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded updates etc and none of this worked - this fact (maintenance of her fingers)

BTW - I LOST all THE TAGS - on a few tens of thousands of pictures... Sigh - a lot of work for me to do...

  • Starts the Powerbook g3 pismo of the external drive?

    Hello, all,.

I want to start my Powerbook G3 (Pismo) running OS 9.2.2 since the restore in one disc external hard drive. (PB knows he has a drive hard internal , but the drive does not read discs in there.) The computer goes up the disc - its own restore disk - when it comes starts with Macintosh HD as a player start, but when I try to use the restore disc as commissioning, starts to drive to go up, but the door opens. Even if I hold the door closed, the computer starts low to halfway and glued in place: first, the question mark flashing, then commissioning with Macintosh HD but then freeze it.

This happens even if I chose as the startup disk restore disk in the startup configuration panel. This means that I can't even begin to use disk utility to clean the hard drive of the computer. I did that with two other computers (reset several times), but those who had internal functioning disks. Is it possible that I can do this computer using the external drive as the boot? I read that the G3 Pismo that allows. I know I can get someone to take out the hard disk and smash, but I expect much prefer to destroy it myself. And I can understand how to remove the hard drive, but it seems to imply a boatload of maneuvers and some tools that I have, at the present time. I would not completely destroy the computer. It would be good for recyclers to be able to retrieve some parts, though they might be useful to someone.

It is possible that I can't boot from the restore disc in the external drive, but maybe there's something that I have not yet tried. It seems crazy that the external hard drive with the restore disc appears on the desktop with a normal restart, and I can choose as boot drive but can't seem to complete commissioning. If anyone has any ideas on this subject, I would appreciate it a lot.

    Thank you.

    Jenny

Are you trying to boot the PowerBook to an external optical drive that is connected to a USB port or your external drive connectivity FireWire?  If it is USB, that is the problem.  The reading of an optical drive connected by USB is one thing, but start since it is a different matter.  Unfortunately, your Pismo is not capable of this.

I recently bought 4 Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB SSDS that are recommended by Convergent design to be used with an Odyssey 7 q + VCR. In order to get the images on the timeline of Final Cut, I put on a SATA Adapter USB 3 SSD drives (mine is powered) and use software, once the disc appears on the Finder. Problem is that none of these Samsung 850 EVO appear on the finder. I checked my SATA USB adapter by plugging another brand of SSD drive. It works perfectly.

Could someone help me with this issue? With a price of around $450, I don't really want these SSD drives to put useless due to a problem of Apple...

Have two old CD/DVD with the old movies of family 8mm on them.  When I try toopen them I get a statement that ' cannot they in format Samsung "suggestions?

that is a difficult question. Try VLC to see if it will open to them. Usually when the disc appears on the desktop, if you click on it and let go, then press the clover sheet and I (get info command), you should be able to choose which application/program can open them. I have not already heard talk of the "samsung" format, I know there is a stranger there (lie format MTS from Sony). Regarding the conversion of them, maybe MPEG streamclip or hand brake? worst case scenario, you may need to spend some money to buy a video conversion app/program

  • Impossible Bootable Ext HD Boot - Option key

Running OS 10.11.4 on my Mac Pro - I use the Mac as being the owner of the administrator account

    I have a HD Ext bootable as a back-up.

When the computer reboots, while holding down the OPTION key pressed (after the chime) I do not receive the screen with the option to select the startup disk but am taken immediately to my regular desktop after starting on my internal HD.

If I go to system prefs-> boot drive, I am able to select the Ext HD but only after you click the lock and enter my password.

Suspecting that this stop lock the normal process, I left it unlocked when I tried to reboot now down option

But it did not work and on control Sys Pref - > startup disk, the lock had been closed during the restart process.

Under Sys Pref - security & privacy-> general, none of the boxes have been checked except for Apps from anywhere

Is there a setting I can change which will result in the screen of the Option Start Up disc appearing during reboot holding down the Option key?

    Thanks for the tips!

    … John

    Figured it out!

When the startup disk window appeared, nor try to reset NVRAM by pressing the OPTION-COMMAND-P-R worked, I decided to check the keyboard.

There was a post a couple of years indicating a defective as keyboard being the cause.

Of course, everything worked as it should with a Bluetooth KB (instead of the original thin aluminum KB provided with the Mac Pro 4.1 in 2009)

But the Option button on aluminum KB worked in all other situations (for example typing)

Problem solved by plugging the keyboard directly into the MacPro rather than in a USB Hub powered Dynex DX-7P2H - which worked very well for many years. !

Sorry to have bothered you - feel sorta stupid that I have did not check on the 1st obvious!

Is there only a reliable powered USB Hub there?

    Thank you!

  • Install apps on applications folder

I just restored my Macbook Pro.  After the restoration, I was installing new programs, but for some reason, when I install them, I wouldn't be asked to drag to the applications folder.  Instead, they would create a drive on my desktop.  They still would be fine in the applications folder.  I wonder why after the restoration, he does not ask drag me them into the folder.  Nobody knows, or is it possible that I can change this back to the way it should be?  I am currently using El Capitan (10.11.4).

All applications that use a Setup program will install the software in the Applications folder on the boot volume. Only apps that come without an installer must be found in the Applications folder. You see the icon for the disc appears on the desktop, because the software is supplied on a .dmg (disk image) file. Once the software installed you can disassemble the disks.

  • Issue of startup disk

I'm on an iMac (2010) running OSX El Capitan (10.11.2).  I only did turn El Capitan for a little more than a month, leap to OSX Mountain Lion.

My hard drive is partitioned into two parts.  A single partition (HD Mac) works El Capitan, the other (Mac HD 2) short snow leopard.  I need to Snow Leopard for some financial software older which is not supported by a newer operating system.  I'm back from the partitions back at the start of the disc in system preferences, where both discs appeared always when I was running Mountain Lion, regardless of what disc I used actively desired.

Here's my problem.  Yesterday, I had to use Snow Leopard.  I opted for Mac HD 2 without any problems.  After finishing my work, I opened system preferences and clicking the startup disk icon.  But opening the startup disk window, my HD Mac Player wasn't there, the only systems showing was one I used, Mac HD, more network boot.  This is NOT how things worked when I was running Mountain Lion.

I opened and closed system without any changes and then rebooted the Mac HD preferences 2 but still not able to get Mac HD appears as a boot disk as possible.  I finally tried to restart using network boot.  After a LONG pause, my computer has rebooted and is now back on Mac HD.

Any ideas why my Mac HD system is no longer appears in the startup disk when I switch to Snow Leopard?  That's just how El Capitan works, and I should just continue to restart the network to get HD Mac to open?  Or is there a change I can do so that I can get Mac HD displays in system preferences I'm browsing the HD 2?

I need to use the financial software today and am a little nervous that I won't be able to return to my main drive when I finished.  I would really appreciate any ideas/tips that anyone of you could have on this issue.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Don't know why the startup disk preference do not have or did not see both of your boot Images... ?

FWIW, the startup disk preference is more for the implementation of the cold boot disk, that is for switching between multiple drives.

You should really use the Boot Manager to choose restart from the Apple Menu and then hold down the Option (Alt) key on the carillon. Then once you are in the Boot Manager will give you the start time of any other available boot drive option.

Hello world! I hope that someone out there will be able to help me with this problem.

I have a TOSHIBA EQUIUM L350D with a CARPET * A DVD-RAM UJ-850 s ATA Device like the CD/DVD drive. Recently, the small plastic disc that fits on the center pin and the handles of the CD or the DVD has started to come adrift when the drawer is closed and the rotation starts; It's a horrible grating noiise! The small plastic disc appears to push on the center pin and I tried pressing the home more firmly, but still, it breaks off at the speed.

So I want to know: is there a way to secure the disc plastic safe? And if not, the only solution is to replace the drive? I don't know how I got into all this.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

I m quite skeptical that you will be able to solve this problem. Check on eBay if you can buy the new driver.

Replacement should not be that complicated, and it will be certainly simpler to solve this problem.
