No game battlenet for warcraft3 on windows 7?

I installed the game on windows 7 and it works smoothly, but I can't play battlenet. When I press the button "battlenet" I get the message that the server is down or that I have no internet connection. at the same time, my roommate is playng on the same server. I thin it has to do with all the firewall stuf but I couldn't fix myself.

the funny thing is that I can play games on local network with no problems...

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Here is a link to the Blizzard's support FAQ which explains how to configure connections for BattleNet items.

  • Can I use a game made for Windows 95 on a Windows Vista system?

The game installed, but it does not work.

Could Hmm, you tell me what game is it? Maybe I can find a specific solution to the game. For example with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3D a modified executable will have to come into play.
Another solution might be to try other modes, such as Windows 98 and Windows XP Compatibility Mode. Windows XP will have the highest chance of success. Do not forget to have lots of files as possible running in compatibility mode, otherwise from different parts of the application is running in different ways.

Hi, I'm trying to run an old game designed for XP, and it doesn't seem to begin.

The game is: Harry Potter Quiditch World Cup.

The game installed perfectly, but at startup, it crashes without black screen.

After playing with the compatibility mode, with multiple changed settings.

We get a black screen, making it appear as if it will launch.

About 15 seconds, it crashes even when.

    Hi Quick_flight,

    ·         Did you install the game in trouble-free compatibility mode?

I suggest that you try to install the game by keeping the computer in the boot and check if you are able to use the game without any problems.

You can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to run check and clean boot if you have the problem.

    1. click on Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box and press ENTER.
User account control permission: If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. on the general tab, click selective Startup.
    3. under selective Startup, click on to clear the load Startup items check box.
4 click the Services tab , select the hide all the Microsoft Services checkbox and then click disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click restart.

Now, install the game in Windows XP compatibility mode and check.

Reset the computer to start as usual

.  When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
.  Click Start, type msconfig. exe in the Search box of Start and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
.  On the general tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK.
.  When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

Read the article for more information: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.

If the problem persists, I would recommend that you contact the game manufacturer for more help on the issue, also check if patches are available.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • Vista has stopped turning the games run for a long time.

Vista has stopped turning the games run for a long time. The display would go crazy and the sytem would lock. Gotta make a stop with the power button. No errors are recorded. I re-installed the game. Same thing. I reinstalled Vista 64. Same thing. I get about 3 minutes in the game and then locking the. 1 single game still work (BioShock2). COD - MW2 and COD MW lock the sytem. One is direct install, and the other is the steam. I have a video card Nvidia GTX 280 with the latest drivers from Microsoft. Before the reinstall, I tried to install the most recent NVIDIA. Did not help. Yet the locks without showing error. About half of the time it stops at my off video card a few seconds after that the display goes crazy. BioShock uses DirectX 10, and others use DirectX 11. I read on some sites that 11 causes the video crashes on some systems. I want to know is why 11 is working for so long and stop NOW. Is there a way to make the games all run on 10? COD BlackOPS crashes too. I played ALL these games over and over again until the last 3 weeks. If there was some error to post logs I would but there is not. Any suggestions on where to find some kind of problem that could cause this? The video card was removed, cleaned and put back into the computer. Still crashes. 1 in 4 of the games will take place without any problems. 3 will be blocking of the computer and the video trash in 3 minutes or less to start the game. The video is great, until blocking.

Suggestions on how to fix or where to additional troubleshooting for the cause will be greatly appreciated.

Try running the memory and the hard drive scan to make sure that both are good.

If both check good, the map may be at fault. In which case it is overheating you can manually increase the fan speed in the Nvidia Control Panel.
