No IDE ATA/ATAPI

I have brand new m9441 Vista 64 bit. When I look in Device Manager, there is no IDE ATA/ATAPI entry! Is this normal?

SATA has replaced the IDE / ATA. It's faster and you no longer have to deal with the giant band inside the computer.

There is no UNKNOWN devices and there is no OTHER devices listed by eliminating this question. • IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers does not, unable to TRIM SSD

I'm having a problem with my newly installed SSD. I just got an Alienware Aurora R4 with Windows 8. I immediately cloned the HDD to a vector of OCZ serving 256 GB drive of EaseUs ToDo Backup, which worked perfectly when I just upgraded to an SSD on my laptop. At the beginning I had a problem with recognition by car, but then ensured this bios was set to AHCI and UEFI and finally to load Windows 8. I reformatted the hard drive 2 TB for Data (d :)) and loaded all my music, videos etc..) Then when I went to optimize my readers, I clicked on the optimization of the DDI, and she went from needing optimization to "optimization is not available" - which it is said now and is gray. I realized that it is a question as optimization in Win 8 on an active SSD TRIM (works on my laptop).  Do not know if it is a matter of concern, but the (I'm sure that what is already hidden) partition DIAGS on the original drive received a drive letter (e :)) on the SSD.

Anyway back to the no optimization/TRIM. My first reaction was to google "Value is not available" and I found this link.

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_8-performance/when-i-try-to-optimize-drives-i-get-optimization/20a45c49-a774-42B1-8317-20ef7799b6ad

The poster says he fixed his problem by updating its storage controller drivers. "Basically, I downloaded the latest drivers Intel Rapid Storage Technology for Windows 8."
I checked my control of storage drivers in Device Manager, and these are listed:

Intel (r) 600 Series chipset SATA AHCI controller
    Microsoft storage controller

Read more in the article someone else with a similar problem mentioned tried using the admin command promp to activate the TRIM (what to me then tried and had the exact same message of error/result), with the following results:

    Type "defrag c:/l '.

Coating invoking the name of the drive (C :)...)

    Lining: 100% full.

The requested operation is not supported by the hardware of the volume. (0x8900002A)

This individual, and then upgraded to Windows 8 and leaves choose drivers and apparently its has started working. He mentioned its IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller amended in both disk management. Reading that I decided to see what mine were and noticed that I have not yet to IDE ATA/ATAPI controller listed in disk management on my system! Even when the control to display hidden is not a controller to IDE ATA/ATAPI list. Should I do this?

I went to the controller driver dell to check to see if I needed updates. It shows me only Windows 7 updates as it says that my R4 Aurora accompanies when I added my service code (is there a way to fix this?). I just chose to watch an empty Arurora R4 and was able to see the drivers of Windows 8 and downloaded all updates that seemed relevant (also update bios to A07 A06). When I downloaded the class Serial ATA driver (7D9TS) and you click Update, it says just the file is decompressed, but have not installed anywhere (unlike the other pilots).

If anyone knows why I don't have IDE ATA/ATAPI listed and how to get this device?

For those who have an SSD on their Aurora R4 with Win 8 are you able to optimize and what drivers you have this affect it?

What are the latest drivers Intel Rapid Storage Technology for Windows 8 and how do I know if I have same Intel Rapid storage available?

Thank you very much. Sorry the length, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible.

I'm having a problem with my newly installed SSD. I just got an Alienware Aurora R4 with Windows 8. I immediately cloned the HDD to a vector of OCZ drive 256 GB using EaseUs ToDo Backup,

I think that the problems started here, on this stage of EaseUs.

I hope that you always have this original Image backup... probably on an external USB or something. Good... Keep this forever (especially since it looks like that delete you the original copy/drive).

You have to clean install Win - 8 (and support adequate and other drivers chipset) this SSD so you can check the materials. It is not easy because of no victory-8 media and hidden serial OEM key. You may need to talk with Dell for some OEM DVD or USB Flash media.

Personally, I would have also created the Dell 16 GB USB Flash device recovery initially. It might be useful now. He could have facilitated a full restore of your OEM-Windows-8... same "bare metal" (to your Virgin SSD).

  • Documentation in conflict on IDE / ATA, who is he?

Getting started with ESX, I read the following:

    http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-esx-4-1/getting_started/c_esx_hw.html:

"ATA and IDE disks hard - ESX supports the installation and on an ATA or SATA RAID disk, but do ensure that your specific speed control is included in the hardware supported. IDE drives are supported for ESX installation and creation of VMFS. »

And the Guide of the ESX Configuration, I read the following:

    http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-esx-4-1/server_config/c_local_storage.html:

"Note: you cannot use drives IDE / ATA to store virtual machines."

What is correct? Creation of a VMFS on an IDE drive / ATA means that you can store virtual machines on an IDE disk / ATA, correct?

    Thank you!

The console ESX 4.x is actually a Virtual Machine, it is stored on a filesystem VMKFS. The Tunis should probably be amended to eliminate any confusion. Installation on IDE is not only being a good choice no mater what that.

  • Cannot install Vista Business on Portege M400 - IDE issues

Hi guys... I am looking for your help.

I downloaded all the new Vista drivers avaiable from Toshiba in support of the new installation of Vista business on my old Portege M400, that came preloaded with a version of XP Tablet and kept their loan on a CD.

I also upgraded the version of the ACPI BIOS to the latest available 3.80.

I insert the first CD of Vista professional and do a boot. (I also have a n upgrade Vista Business CD but I want to do a clean install).
I go past the first steps and choose Install.
I am faced with an error message "no disk has been found. "Click on load a driver to provide a device for installing mass storage.

Looks like Vista is not able to see the IDE drive to the edge and it's a driver problem.

I touched the "Rescan" button available on the windows installation and another message appears: "no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct driver, and then click OK. »

Currently loaded on the XP: currently loaded poster IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers like Device Manager: "Intel (R) 82801 G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers and primary IDE channel."

Hard drives shown are: Toshiba RAID SCSI Disk Device LD0

Pls tell, what new drivers since available downloads of drivers Vista for my model 400 ML PPM40E, should I choose here for my Vista installation recognizes the disk available?

    Hello

It is very easy to solve this problem.
If you would look on the page of the European driver Toshiba (Portege M400 section), then you will notice that a RAID driver is available for this model of laptop.

Impossible to install Vista because it cannot find the HARD drive due to lack of RAID driver!

You must install the RAID driver first and then you can proceed with the installation of Vista.
As far as I know the Vista installation accepting the USB flash key you can use this key to include the RAID driver.

Hope I could give some useful advice.

    Cheers mate

    Hello

I am constantly Atapi error (11 EvenID).
    I use Windows 7 and the S70 - A Satellite - 11 H PSKNEE-06P02TEN.

Yesterday, I specifically re-installed windows to see if the problem is resolved, it has happened. I ran the Toolbox of the Intel SSD full of that diagnosis, she returned without a single error.

And I made sure that I have the latest drivers, I've updated the bios, I did almost everything imaginable, but this error always keeps popping up and from time to time PC freezes, mouse movements, but nothing else answer then it thaws and new mistakes keep coming. Check the log of the events below.

Very useful if you could help.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

The Atapi (11 EvenID) error due to hardware problem.
This problem may be caused by the controller or device that is connected to the controller.

    > I ran toolbox SSD Intel full of that diagnosis, she returned without a single error.
You upgrade this laptop with an SSD?
Have you noticed the problem using the previous HARD disk?

Probably this SSD drive is causing this problem.
I recommend you to check if the same error message using the original HARD disk.

By the way: you can try to update the driver for the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller
In Device Manager, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
Right click on the controller and select Update driver software.
Then restart laptop and check if this solves the problem.

My CD/DVD-Rom device (toshiba SD-C2612) stopped working - it was still registered as a player, but would not read disks - so I got a replacement and not at all settled.

I also noticed that in device - under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers Manager - there is an "unknown device" which is called "hdc" (hard disk controller?) who doesn't have a driver installed and can not find new drivers when I update. I disabled the device and who have stopped the old cd/dvd rom recognized and when I reboot it reinstalls the hdc, but it's still the record as an unknown device.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

It seems that you have purchased an internal drive is not compatible.
It should know that the drive as master/slave or c - salt settings are fix and it of not possible to change it as on external drives by switching the jumper.

That is why it s always a good idea to ask the laptop manufacture support for a good disks before you buy a.
I found in my user manual for the list of compatible drives for my laptop. Maybe it s the same list in you user manual.
There you should find the readers supported.

The parameter if you have this option from the IDE to the setting of DCIS is inside the BIOS Setup. If you do not have the option in the BIOS of the drive then you have only IDE setting.

I assume you are using Windows 8 based on your screenshot.  The steps should be similar for other versions of Windows as well.  Try the following.

    1. Using views of the subway or Office Windows + X key combination.  This opens the context menu.
    2. Select Device Manager.
    3. Expand the section of "controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI.
    4. Right click on "IDE controller' listed here and select"Uninstall ".  If you are prompted only remove the driver.
    5. Reboot the laptop.
    6. Loading Windows must be reinstalled the software for the device.
