  Thanks for the reply, but I found the solution.
  Many answers forum suggest to change the network settings, but that does not work either.
  The combination which solves the problem was to run "SuperAntiSpyware" who found a virus that Norton has not blocked. AND to uninstall and reinstall my copy of Norton 360.

  Select Preferences - network - system - advanced - DNS network - click + symbol - Type 8.8.8.8 - Ok - apply.

  Inspiron 9300, windows xp my wireless connection works fine, but when I disable and enable my internet connection ethernet does not work.  I give and get little or no connectivity message.  When I try to repair the connection, says cannot repair IP.  So that if I manually set the IP address, my status will connects, but under packages he received a number of climbing, but a 0 under.  Another computer connected via ethernet on this modem works fine.

  Have you tried to connect and to prove your speed more than once? I mean we´re to talk about 4 difference Kbps (!) on a dial-up connection! So I suggest you to watch and prove your speed again and again, because there may be various reasons that a dial-up connection can be slow.

• 64-bit Internet connections work, 32-bit Internet connections do not work.

  The system configuration:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • HP Pavilion P6310f
  • AMD Athlon 2 x 4 630 image processor
  • 6 GB DDR3 RAM
  • nVidia graphic Chipset

  Symptoms:

  • all 32-bit internet programs do not detect an internet connection and cannot connect to the internet.
  • Internet Explorer (32-bit) displays instantly "Cannot Display the Webpage", there is no apparent delay or the connection attempt.

  Counter-arguments to skeptics

  • Computer starts completely, no error message.
  • Network and sharing Center shows "Access Type: Internet", detects no problem.
  • Windows updates work
  • Internet Explore 64-bit works

  I work for a local computer repair business, and I've seen this problem now on at least 3 machines.  I've almost exhausted all means to try to solve these problems, ranging from to restore the system registry changes.  Nothing seems to have helped.  Here's what I did on this specific problem:

  • Reset Internet Explorer settings
  • Reset the Internet Explorer advanced settings
  • netsh winsock reset

  Until you try and suggest that it is an internet explore addon, I said all THE 32-bit programs, so that some programs use the Internet Explorer settings for the communication of the internet (for example, proxies) they are not affected by the integrated addons.

  I thought I could keep from doing another massive troubleshooting on this one and see if anyone else has a better answer for me.  So far I've never seen someone say they got this fixed solution without saying 'I reformatted my computer and it's corrected now.  This isn't a good solution for a problem caused by potentially a single file.

  So, anyone have any ideas?

  Also uninstall the security software temporarily and check if it makes a difference in the way applications respond.

  Once you have done to resolve the problem, reinstall the software.

If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  A large number of variables are involved when you connect to a network: cables, drivers, network adapters and routers. Some common problems are:

  • A switch to wireless network adapter is disabled

  • Airplane mode is on

  • Poorly connected or disconnected cables

  • Wireless standards do not match

  • Missing updates

  • Incorrect network connection settings

  • Damaged or incompatible drivers

• My Wired internet connection works on a computer, but not the other.

  I have a rope Ethernet connecting my cable modem to my laptop. When I plugged it in, it immediately connected my laptop to the internet. I took this same chord and plugged into my office. It connects, but I get a 'local only' connection and cannot access the internet. I tried all suggestions from windows to solve the problem. I reinstalled my network card. I played with all the internet options in Control Panel. How to make this work? It is clearly not the modem or the cable because it works on my laptop.

  Is that your desktop is configured to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server? Open the local area connection properties in your office and check the properties of the Protocol ' TCp/Ipv4. Be sure that this radio button for "obtain an IP address automatically" is selected.

• Updated programs (e.g., Skype, MSN Messenger) indicate "no internet connection" internet connection works

  I had problems with Vista, firstly with respect to some automatic updates is blocking internet access (still pending) and now some improved programs, such as Skype, MSN Messenger, TomTom, etc.) do essentially the same thing: I upgraqded Skype, which worked perfectly before the upgrade and nowwhen I try to connect, it says no I am not connected to the intrnet, when I'm clearly.  I have disabled the Windows Firewall, added programs such as exceptiosn in the firewall and still no good.  This seems to be the case with more and more programs and it's very frustrating.  Help, please.

  Just to make sure you can back up 'now', can you do a full backup of the system to an external source or another partition?

  This is my opinion and I think we get very close to the point of no longer options. :-(

  in Device Manager, the ethernet controller is listed as does not like is it isn´t a driver installed (in other devices, with a yellow warning, nothing in the properties).

  I ve installed the driver (R296457.exe) atheros ar8152 and restarted my computer several times. I still can´t make it work...

  That's what I mentioned in my last answer. You have just unpacked the files, but the drivers are not installed. Please, note the predefined path and once the files are decompressed navigate to this folder and then run the installer from there. Here are the steps:

  • Click on my computer.
  • Double-click the C drive for access.
  • Double-click the Dell folder to access.
  • Double-click the drivers folder to access.
  • You will see a folder for the Sub name R296450.
  • Double-click it to access and run the Setup file from there.
  • Follow similar steps for the other set of drivers.

  I hope this helps. Please share the results.

I have format my hard drive and reinstall OS (XP Home Edition) I got the DSL service with comcast, but the technician tell me that ethernet controller must be instaled. I have download some controller ethernet on our page of dell, but always without conection because I don't know what to do now. When I try to activate the conection area icon, a message appears telling me that there is no conectivity, so I try to repair conection but show a new message... "window cannot renew my IP address.

  Some control parameters must be enabled; some by default are not ready.

  Your Internet ISP provides a modem that has an additional Ethernet port? If it is

• Access to Internet only works if the 3G network is connected?

  When I have the 3 G and WIFI are on, my internet connection works fine. My WIFI signal strength is good and connected. However, if I turn off the 3G (disable 3G) and my WIFI is still and have a good signal strength accoding to the XOOM, I don't have the internect connection.

  Can someone help me on this? Internet connection of XOOM should work on the Wi - FI mode.

  makes me think that you have not actually found a wifi connection at all. are you sure that your connected to your wifi network and pulling an IP address?
