  You just set up the new TC and plug the old TC... copy the sparsebundle existing old TC to the new... but we do not recommend to do this.

  It's much better to start a new backup TM on the new TC and keep the old one for several months until you have a fair story and if you need never old file the chances you decreases considerably with time.

  I recently bought a Capsule 2 TB and my MacBook Pro using Time Machine backup. When first installed, I've caused a problem with the process and after that TM works perfectly, save every hour, I changed the name of the time Capsule and things this is ugly even if I tried to change the name back.   IMHO, it may be useful to consider buying Carbon Copy Cloner or other backup software. Stop time Machine and use something that is more reliable and more controllable. It can back up to CT as does TM.

  If you now select this drive for Mac with the new HD files o the drive will be not changed/deleted.

  When you reinstall OSX and then try to use a TM backup you must first select this drive. What happens when you select this drive in the configuration of the TM and then try to restore the files through TM interface.
