No sound after the transition from XP to Windows 7

Original title: Audio becomes mute after upgrading Windows XP to Windows 7

I upgraded from window xp family to an operating system of Windows 7 and my audio becomes mute,

Please, how can I solve the problem?
Thank you

Hello

(1) do you see any yellow exclamation or the symbol of the Red Cross for audio driver in Device Manager?

(2) you download and install the latest drivers for the computer on the manufacturer's Web site?

Here is the link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=499881

(3) execute you troubleshooting methods referred to by zigzag3143x on July 19, 2012 in your previous post?

Here is the article from the previous post: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-sound/no-audio-device-installed/e80fae0f-f822-4392-a977-4ca65469d09b

If you did not have the means of action, I suggest you perform the above troubleshooting methods and response with the result of the measures.

I also suggest you use the below link to access the Device Manager and collect details.

To open Device Manager, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click performance and Maintenanceand then click System. In the hardware tab, click device, Manager

Updated XP PC to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  First upgrade failed due to the bad version of Win 7.  (Distorted version of seller).  Correct version relocation has left two versions installed so I started reinstalling the correct version and reformat selected before continuing.  (21/04/16)  Installation proceeds correctly, validated and activated license, but the update function didn't work.  One version on the disc after the previous action.  Then I downloaded and installed IE 11 manually the version 11.0.9600 of Microsoft (same date) and then downloaded and installed MSE from Microsoft 4.9.218.0 version (same date).   MSE updates have not downloaded initially until I ran Win update problems solving.

I have since run program sfc/scannow (without problems of integrity or repaired files), update Windows utility for troubleshooting and Fixit programs.  I also stopped the update service, delete the appropriate configuration of software and restarted the service records.  Still not connection with update server.

Download and install the following update manually. This greatly speeds up the update of Windows on new installations of Windows 7.

  • After the transition from XP to Windows 7, the custom-printing size selection box has failed.

I always was able to use my C5180 Photosmart to print pictures of custom size on my old computer with XP.  After getting a new computer with Windows 7, the custom size box says "the custom paper that you have just set will become unavailable for selection until you have left and returned in the preferences to print/properties." (I did too many times to count!) All except 'Cancel' choices are grayed out.  This feature still works on my old computer, even if the box selection and formulation are different.  I have checked and checked the drivers and we have tried many other solutions.  I have worked in this market for a week or two and see that many other people have similar problems.  I would like to buy a new hp printer, but see that even with the new hp printers people have problems with paper sizes custom, which is very important to me - I print a lot of cards of various sizes, mainly of 6.5 X 10 inches.  Of course, no support is available for this printer "obsolete". (It may be "obsolete", but it works fine with XP). I also can't get any definitive information on this feature in the new hp printers and have noted that some people have problems with this feature on the new printers also.

Thank you so much Shane R. for your expert advice.

Can I try your solution in the future, but right now I'm satisfied by another solution, I realized with the help of a thematically response on a Windows 7 forum.

First of all, I'm pretty positive, I used the correct driver because I downloaded the most recent, verified and recontroler, etc.  And, fortunately, most of the features all-in-one is working well.  Because of this, I hate to try drivers for another model - as I have solve my problem. I could end up with another problem - as no function of scan or something.

Here is how I was able to get custom formats:

'Start' to 'control panel' for 'Hardware and Sound' ('View drivers and printers')

    Click on the printer

Choose "Print server properties" at the top of the screen

    Click 'create a new form.

Give form a new name, for example 7-10 card and put the name into the box just above

Complete custom down, for example, print size 7 x 10

    Click 'save form '.

    Click "close".

The custom name and size is then appeared in the photo program I feel for and I was able to use it.

Thank you, again. (Where can I provide Bravo?)

  • After the transition from XP to Windows 7, I lost my ability to scan and fax.

When I go to the interface of the software (on my desktop), instead of being able to set up a scan and save it to a document, I now get a message that my installation of the software is incomplete.  He tells me that I have to connect via USB to complete it, but when I do this it seems to return to the original XP drivers, and I've since upgraded to Windows 7 drivers.  How to get out of this endless loop and recover my ability to scan?  And I already tried using HP diagnostic tools AND tried to remove and reinstall the update downloaded drivers.  Nothing seems to update this software interface on my desktop - the farthest, I get with it is a runtime error.  Any ideas?

I tried to reinstall again and somehow got beyond the Runtime error (no idea how).  Now, scan and fax are back (yay) but the scan will make only a single page and then it shows a mistake and said it should be stopped.  However, I can deal with that at thispoint.     Thank you!!

  • Cannot open files in office open after the transition from XP to Windows 7

I get 2 messages: application Incapatible and windows cannot access the specified device, etc., you don't have the necessary permissions to access the item.  I checked and double-checked the permissions.  Also cannot install previous programs, IE. Open office, itunes.

    Hi Nancy,.

What version of open office are you using?

As you get the error that says that the applications are not compatible, I suggest you to check if the version of the application you are trying to install is compatible with Windows 7. You can check this by using the Windows 7 Compatibility Center.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/compatibility/win7/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Name=OpenOffice&vendor=Apache&Locale=16393&ModelOrVersion=3&BreadCrumbPath=open%20office%20&Type=Software&tempOsid=win7

    You have two options:

    1. download the latest version of the software that is supported by Windows 7 and try opening the files open office.

    2. install the old application in compatibility mode and try to open the files open office.

Refer to this link to install the application in compatibility mode: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows

  • No sound after the s7530n pavilion slimline for Windows 7 RC1 upgrade

I know that Windows 7 is still in version final candidate and so is not taken in charge by Wells, anyone, but I've seen some people have luck on this forum so I'm him kicking.

I have a HP slimline s7530n Pavilion that came with Windows XP Media Center is installed.  I recently upgraded to Windows 7 RC1 (as well as all the other computers in my home) because of the extra boost of incredible performances provided by Windows 7, as well as the best new Media Center.  Unfortunately, while Windows 7 works fine on all my other systems, it fails in two areas on this slimline: it is not up to run Aero/Glass (which is not a problem, do not need glass on this system), but unfortunately the sound work no longer, which is a real disappointment, because Media Center is kinda useless without audio :-)

When I move my mouse over the volume icon in the system tray ToolTip shows "no Audio output device is installed".  When I check under ' audio, video and game controllers "in Device Manager, there is only a single element:"High definition Audio Device", which says that it is working properly.

Steps, I tried to solve the problems:

-J' uninstalled the "High Definition Audio Device" in the Device Manager and rebooted.  It is automatically re - installs, but does not solve the problem.

-J' downloaded the audio driver for Vista for this PC from the HP support page: "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Update" - sp34998.exe.  I tried to install it directly, but got an error 'failure '.  Then I extracted all the files in a folder, right click on the "setup.exe" inside and set to run in compatibility of Vista and as an administrator, but running mode later, he gave the same "failed" error.  I then uninstalled the driver "High definition Audio Device" in Manager of peripheral and before restart, run sp34998 (in Vista compatibility and as administrator mode) configuration file, and this time installed without error.  He then asked to reboot.  After reboot, Windows 7 automatically reinstalled the driver of "High definition" Audio Device as before, and I'm back to square one, still no sound, even if "RealTek High Definition Audio Driver" does not in Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

-J' I uninstalled RealTek Vista driver and the "high definition Audio Device", then downloaded the original XP driver: ' Summer 2006 Original high definition Audio Drivers Realtek '-sp26730.exe the HP support page.  Same experience driver Vista, with some slight differences - even if I extracted the files, and then told the setup.exe to launch in Windows XP SP2 and administrator mode, that it fails eventually, but with messages such as "cann't find Match RealTek HD Audio Inf file!  (Yes, it's accurate, complete with broken and misspelled grammar "Cann't" error message).

So I'm puzzled - I should anticipate problems with Windows 7 for embedded with audio systems, but my old Dell laptop for 6 year, works very well with Windows 7 and it has integrated everything (same course glass!), so if anyone has any advice I'm all ears.

    Thank you!

and don't you know - after that for troubleshooting like a week and a half, I finally posted my question on this forum in desperation, and five minutes after the validation, I discovered the solution on my own.

So for those who have this particular problem, please go to the RealTek page:

    http://www.Realtek.com.tw/

Click on the "Downloads" link at the top.

Click on the first link on the page: High Definition Audio Codecs (software)

Check the box "I agree" to the legalese and then click the next button when it becomes available

For the fifth result in the list, "Vista, Windows7 Driver (32/64 bits) driver only (executable file)", click on the 'GO' link to the right (I chose "Site 1"), then download the file to your desktop.

If you have any audio drivers RealTek HP installed under the Control Panel, uninstall and restart.

Then, run the executable RealTek above (when he throws an error message saying "Windows cannot verify the Publisher" click to install anyway), then restart.

When your system returns to the top, you have the sound!  I am very happy.

  • After the OS from Vista to Windows 7 upgrade, lost bookmarks. Could they be somewhere in "windows.old"?

    Hello

I upgraded my OS from Vista to Windows 7 and lost bookmarks, I had in Firefox. Back up my documents files and they are OK. Unfortunately, I don't think to back up my Firefox bookmarks.html file.

However, I did the upgrade of the operating system from the disk and a "windows.old" folder has been created which seems to have a lot of my old files, applications, and others, but I can't find "bookmarks.html" in the firefox folder or in my user folder.

Is there another place in windows.old where bookmarks could be, or a different file name, it may be under?

Please help, there are a few important bookmarks that I lost and which were accumulated over several years.

    Thank you!

Firefox has not used the file bookmarks.html for storage of bookmark since the release of Firefox 2. You need a JSON bookmark backup file or the file places.sqlite. See this:

    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile

Your old profile is located here in Windows Vista and Win7:

    drive: \Users\Windows login user name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile_name

You may need to display 'files and hidden folders' in Win7 to be able to access the Firefox profile in windows.old files and the new installation of the OS.

  • After the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 games installed in my laptop (Chainz, Cubis and Bejeweled, etc.) have bars on each side when displayed in full screen.

I have a laptop Acer Aspire with a screen 16:9 wide (15.6 "), it has the latest graphic drivers ATI and all operating system updates.  After the upgrade to W7 (free upgrade with the purchase of the laptop) everything works wonderfully except all the games installed now not displayed in full screen, I get black bars on both sides, they used for Vista, but not with W7.

I already tried different settings in the games options, administrator, resolutions screen different, being run in maximized 'Vista' and 'Run' mode of the file properties dialog box shortcut and .exe.  This happened without any security program installed that is not a factor.

    I am at a loss.

This is to maintain the ratio l / h. It is how the images stretch. ATI no longer has the opportunity to play with the proportions for the sort of stuck like that unless you can find in your version of ATI Catalyst. It is in fact full screen as opposed to windowed mode, but it does not cover the entire screen.

You can try different resolutions within the application to see if it will actually make your apps full screen to use the entire screen. That's all, remains to be done. I don't know why ATI has decided to exclude this option because some people hate the black bars or hate the stretched images.

  • Problem of PC keyboard laptop Compaq Presario CQ60-224NR after the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7

I have recently upgraded the OS on my laptop PC Compaq Presario CQ60 224NR Vista Service Pack 2 to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit Service Pack 1.  I updated the drivers before upgrading and checked for the latest drivers after upgrade also.  After the upgrade, the keyboard of the laptop works only partially when I use a web browser.  This includes IE and Firefox.  Above the QWERTY keys do not work correctly.  If I press one of these keys or SHIFT and one of these keys, the last character, symbol, or space I typed before is repeated instead.  Y at - it a fix for this problem?

Well, I searched for several hours and found a solution, at least for me I am a customer of Comcast and I installed constant guard.  There is a key logger that is included in the package that it causes the problem.  I uninstalled GuardedID and my problem disappeared.  I hope it works for you.

  • Satellite L30-113 - no sound after the downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello to everyone.
I recently bought a new laptop Toshiba Satellite L30-113
    with vista preintalled.

As many users around the vista of the world seemed very slow for me so I decided to go back to Windows XP Pro.
The problem is that I can't hear any sound in my laptop.
In fact I found some drivers for Realtek controller High definition audio
    but they have nothing did.

I give the floor to toshiba in Greece and they told me that this laptop is designed only for windows vista!
    Can this be true?
    Help, please

    Hello

In my eyes, you have misunderstood something. Of course, that the laptop can handle Windows XP and it should work correctly, but as you say the device was shipped with Vista and so the guys at Toshiba support don't provide any support for WinXP on this laptop.

As far as I know page driver Toshiba also provide drivers for win XP. Therefore, visit European driver of Toshiba page and choose the good laptop-> PSL33 Sat L30-113

You will find a driver 5.10.0.5273 version XP. This should work!

    Have a nice day ;)
