No sound on Equium L40

Since last week, something wrong with the sound system in my laptop. There is a red X on the "speaker" icon. And when I click it, it says no audio devices are installed (but I and have tried to reinstalled the driver from toshiba Web site)

When I click on the playback device, it says speakers work but is funny, I can't set it up, and when I go to the recording devices, it says stereo mix is not available but I can't even right click it and after that, the window for its crashes.

My laptop is Equium L40
Works on Vista 32-bit

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Thank you

Hello

Sorry but I don't understand where you see this red x can you please tell me exactly the place where you can see? I assume that you write about the sound card in Device Manager.

I can see on the Toshiba download page there are two audio drivers for two different models of laptops L40. Listed are PSL41E and PSL49E. Have you chosen the right method?

OK here is the deal, I have everything works pretty well except the sound. Its the map analog Inc. I have on this laptop and not the Realteck one. In my opinion, he's also under the name of SoundMAX. Summer looking for the driver on google for hours now, if someone can tell me if they have managed to get their functioning and how?

Also on the graphics, I'm not fussed, but if anyone has any info on this, it would be great.

Someone knows the specifications of the chip, card mother etc for this laptop, so I can download the drivers for the chipset.

    Hello

Sorry, but I must ask you this: why you n t use WXP drivers available on the Toshiba support page?
I can see all the drivers of Windows XP Home edition are listed for Equium L40 under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

  • Equium L40-10 X - audio drivers do not work on Windows XP

I recently reinstalled XP on my equium L40-10 x. Unfortunately, the audio drivers from the Toshiba support site does not work for me - are there other drivers that are known to work?
I didn't load the available disks and need something on the net - link?

    Thank you.

    Hi cecilrosa,

I n t have Equium L40 but I'm pretty sure that the audio drivers are working properly. The point is that you need to first install Service Pack 3 before you can install the audio driver.

So to remove the current sound driver and install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. After that, you can try reinstalling the audio driver.

  • Equium L40 - 10z PSL41E - cannot install audio driver WinXP

    Hello!

I'm having a problem with the installation of the Windows XP sound card drivers

Computer laptop informatio, Toshiba Equium L40 - 10z (bought from PC World) PSL41e
    2 GB Ram DDR2 - 667 Mhz
    Core 2 [email protected]
    120 GB hard drive
Intel GMA 945 graphics card with shared memory

I can't find drivers for my laptop, the specification is indicated above. I have windows XP with service pack 3 installed and the system is unable to install drivers Realtek High Defination or audio drivers Realtek AC 97 ". I even tried the latest drivers version 1.86 but not its use.

I read the other posts on this forum and have tried the other model audio drivers as well, it seems that after running the installer from several other realtek audio drivers for windows XP THAT is of no use. I even tried to add material manually through the Device Manager and have to install these drivers for realtek high definition audio and the realtek ac 97 audio drivers.

Of course, this helps the drivers to install, but windows cannot activate the material with an error code 10 with a note of explanation on behalf of the driver in Device Manager.

I also tried to install the drivers of toshiba A100/A200 without exploitation, however, I read somewhere that there is a windows XP patch that is required to be installed, so that windows detect the chip high definition, which is on the motherboard. If one can provide a direct link to a driver with the .inf file that will have the information for the material, or if someone can advise (or provide a link for) according to microsoft update is required for windows XP, in the appropriate hardware detection, will be really useful.

I'm also sorry for my bad English I'm unable to articulate with the type of problem, I faced. But if anyone knows of a solution and additional information is needed, I will be happy to provide you with everything I know.

I'll be very grateful to anyone who helps address this issue. Looking forward to a positive response :).

    > have windows XP with service pack 3 installed
To my knowledge, that the XP SP3 is not published official. Only a beta version is available.
    Then go back to SP2!

    > the system cannot install drivers Realtek High Defination or Realtek AC' 97 audio drivers
Realtek AC 97 audio driver is not compatible! You must use the driver from Realtek High definition.

    > Of course, it helps the drivers to install, but windows cannot activate the material with an error code 10 with a note of explanation on behalf of the driver in Device Manager.

The problem is that you have not installed the MS XP patches that are necessary to get the sound working.

  • Equium L40 - Windows won't start, message on screen

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Equium L40 - 17M.
Recently when update my antivirus, my computer tried to restart but now does not load correctly.
Now whenever I try to turn on the computer, after the initial configuration screen Toshiba I'm greeted by the following message is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.

Playing a disc error has occurred
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart.

However, this message seems right once again!
    Suggestions please!

It could be a problem of file system corruption, in which case you can connect the HARD drive to another PC and run CHKDSK on the drive.

If no help, then check the bad sectors HARD disk using the Test advanced in Hitachi DFT (Google is your friend)

Or you can try to run your recovery discs recovery. This reformatted HARD drive, so you will need your first of all if the data backup sound still there (you can use a USB 2.5 "HDD adapter).

If you really need your data back, there are data recovery programs, you can download to search the HARD disk for lost files.

    Steve

    Hello

do you know which sound chipset is on your computer? I'm not really sure, but I guess you should have a realtek chipset in your machine.

    I suggest the following:

Go to www.realtek.com, download the latest drivers from there (because they work on both platforms - mobile and desktop), install and check if it work s. A few comments would be a good thing if its worked.

    See you soon

  • Audio Modem driver, WLan, missing after installing Win XP on Equium L40

    Hello :)

I hope you can help me, got a little problem.

I have a portable Equiem which has XP Home Edition (SP3) on him now (originally Vista)

Major problems with the drivers out there. There seems to be a lack of fair bit and I can't chase them.

    * There is no sound at all
    * Wireless does not work now, only works with a cable
    * Missing modem drivers

In total there are about 6 or 7 missing, but those are the most important.

Any ideas where I can find them?

    Laptop:

    L40 - 10Z / T2080 (Toshiba Satellite)

    Cheers in advance!

    Hello

Equium L40 - 10Z belongs to the series of PSL41E.
I didn t find Win XP driver on the European driver page, but AFAIK the Equium L40 supports the card Atheros Wlan, ADI AD1986A audio chip and Agere Delphi modem chip.

Driver WLAN can be found here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

But you should google and research on some 3rd a prty pages for ADI AD1986A its chip driver and driver modem Agere Delphi

    Welcome them

  • Touchpad no longer works when Equium L40 has been moved

    I have 2 laptops computers Equium L40 x.
Both have recently begun to encounter the same problem with their keyboards.

For some reason, whenever the laptops are horizontal, the keys do not work.
However, once the laptop is tilted, the touchpad works very well.
I can then return the phone horizontally, where he works, until the next time he decides to stop working!

I would have thought it was an isolated issue, but for the fact that it happens on BOTH my laptop!
Laptops were both purchased in August 07, and so, unfortunately, both are guarantee.

Anyone experienced the same thing, or give me any advice to offer?

    Hello Nik

Your story sounds really amazing. I have never heard something like that. Tilting laptop is not for me so good idea. What do you think about this? :)

Sorry, but I don't know if anyone here can offer explanations. The best thing you can do is to show it to the service. Perhaps there is a contact problem. The strange is that you have noticed the same problem on two laptops.

Have you noticed that from the first second, when the notebook is on or later after some time?

  • Equium L40-14i does not power up if its cold

When I push the power button down when the machine is cold, green power light comes on for about 2 seconds, then turns off. If I give the laptop a little sweet heat for 30 seconds, the notebook starts up the first time and works perfectly until the machine is turned off. The laptop is Equium L40-14i

Hope someone can help with this strange problem.

Hmm laptop Equium L40 is an older model, it is possible that some parts of the motherboard (maybe electronic power) does not work as it should.

By the way: before talking about some problems of motherboard, you should check if the laptop works properly using another job good and checked power adapter.

  • Equium L40 10 X flashing green power light

    Hi guys,.

I have an old Equium L40 that I haven't used in a while.

Now when I plug the power adapter into the power green led just blinks constantly.
I checked the blink codes, but I can't find one for mine. It simply turns green for a second then off.
Then green for a second then off the coast and that constantly.

I tried to remove the battery for a few minutes and then hold the power button for a minute, but I just get the same result. The adapter is one that came with the laptop and as far as I can tell works very well.

Other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you guys!

    Hello

Indicator power (DC IN) indicates the status of the power supply with the power adapter plugged.
(Without flashing) Green means supply and the computer is turned on.
The power light on the front of the computer lights green when the computer is turned on.
Flashing orange indicates power to the computer while the laptop is in mode 'sleep'.

Unfortunately, the DC IN green flashing red state looks like a hardware problem.
Probably the power supplied to the laptop is abnormal or there are a few problems with electronic power on the motherboard.

By the way: Please check the memory modules live. Blow an and test the device using that one module in each slot. Check the two modules.
A few years ago, a friend of mine had some problems with the laptop. The flashing light indicates the issue of RAM

  • Equium L40 is not connecting to internet

I have an Equium L40 it does not connect to internet with wifi or the head of the ubs.

    The laptop comes up:
    Internet Explorer has stopped working
A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly.

It says it is connected to my wifi bt hub and has a signal strong.
Why it will not connect either cable or WiFi?

    Any ideas.

    Steven

    Hello Steven

It is not easy to provide a response based on the description of your problem.
If you use connection WLAN make sure wireless network adapter is installed, enabled and configured correctly.

USB cable? What type of USB cable do you use?

  • Equium L40 - Vista won't start after installation of product recovery

    Hello

I had to realize a product uses recovery provided restore disk on an Equium L40 computer laptop (PLS41). The recovery procedure done his job to the end, reformats and copy all the files and then restarts. Now the problem starts...
The pc gets in front of the BIOS boot screen, then it goes completely black with only a cursor to underscore flashing in the upper corner of the screen. No HARD or CD-rom drive activity.

I did the cover about ten times now. All with the same result. I tried the repair procedure using a Vista boot CD and I also tried using another disk supplied with the computer, anytime upgrade from Vista. Here they are without defects, see the hard drive and shows that the vista files are on it, also sees the winRE partition.

I tired even fresh install from the disc at any time. It also reformats the disk, copies and decompresses all files needed, begins to install the updates on the disk and then said: he needs to restart. It restarts and goes to black screen with flashing underscore cursor. What happens if I press the 'coup of any key to boot from CD' or leave it to boot from the HARD drive.

I tried to fix this for two days now, including endless hours of forum to research, the computer belongs to my friend gets very angry I am. I need help. No one knows how to fix?

    Hello

According to your message, I think that the HARD drive is faulty.
I think there's a defective recording of MBR (MBR) of the drive and therefore the laptop refuses to boot.

One question; have you tried to set the BIOS default settings? If this is not the case, try this.

If it doesn t help and the laptop still does not start upward, then you should ask ASP for verification.
I think it s a problem of HARD disk and, possibly, the HARD drive must be replaced!

    Greetings

  • Equium L40-10 X - hardware upgrade options

Hi all, I hope someone can help me.

I have a few problems that I wish to address with my laptop. The first is an overheating problem. Is there a cooling system that I can install to help with this problem?

I know I can improve my RAM, I currently have only 1 GB, but I heard that I can have only a maximum of 2 GB. It is not a problem if that's true, but if I get more I would.

Last thing I want to ask, is whether or not I can upgrade the internal memory, I currently have 120GB. If I is something I can do myself?

I appreciate any help you can give

    Hey,.

1 if you have overheating problems then just clean the cooling assembly. You need not just a new or better, cooler jet of compressed air. ;)
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

    2. Yes, you can upgrade the RAM to 2 GB. That s the maximum capacity for this model to Toshiba specifications.
The part number for a 1 GB module is PA3512U-1M1G

    3. you can also upgrade the HARD drive, that s no problem.
AFAIK Equium L40 supports SATA already then you can buy each HARD drive with this interface. There is no capacity limit.

    I hope I could help you :)
