  I can't find a way to get the sound through HDMI on my R630. I tried the audio properties in the Control Panel, but there is no option to set the audio by default to HDMI device as there was on my old machine.

  I had the same problem but the solution is quiet easy: you must set HDMI as output by default sound settings in Windows.

• 32L1375D - no sound on HDMI using PC not connected

  My HDTV has been replaced by Toshiba (backlight went) the new tv is a 32L1375DB.
  Everything seems fine, except when I connect to my PC via HDMI I have no sound.

  I have check and out HDMI AMD is selected by default on my pc windows 7 (processor i5, 8 GB ram, AMD HD 5870 graphics card). But under supported formats says 0.

  Audio over HDMI works perfectly on old TV and nothing else on the system has changed. The xbox, which is also connected to the new TV works fine. I tried the HDMI cable from the Xbox with the tv and tried on the two hdmi ports on the TV with the same result, big no picture no sound.

  Someone else had this problem? Can someone give me advice on how to solve it?

  Sorry mate, but I guess that this issue has nothing to do with the Toshiba TV but your PC settings.
  Usually, you have to choose the HDMI (or digital) in the settings of your PC.
  Panel of-> sound-> the Read tab

  Here you will see all available devices. In order to get the sound through HDMI out you must choose this device as default.

  I hope everyone recognizes the following and would be kind enough to help me. I searched the forum and tried several of the solutions proposed mainly apply to Vista, but still.

  I hooked up my Qosmio G50 to my Philips LCD HDMI cable. Picture is ok, but there is no sound. I tested the cable with a Toshiba Satellite Pro L550 and it works allright. Image and sound work. But this laptop has Intel HDMI audio.

  I am Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit slot. I improved by upgrading Toshiba DVD of Vista 64-bit. Unfortunately I do not know with certainty if the HDMI audio worked before that. I think so because I used the laptop to watch a movie on a Panasonic plasma. But I don't remember if it was before or after the upgrade.

  Test gives me graphic response (flashing) but no sound from my TV.

  I have an A200-1JS (PSAE6) with a HDMI and HD DVD player.
  I connect my A200 to a LCD screen with an HDMI cable and its ok. Good picture and sound.

  BUT, when I want to see a movie (without using the HD DVD player) with a surround sound (5.1) the only thing that I get stereo sound coming out of the HDMI.
  I went to the control panel realtek option and in the HDMI output and I can only choose stereo.

  So my question is: its possible to get more audio channels (5.1) of the HDMI cable and if so, what should I do to play a movie with surround sound via HDMI?

  As far as I know is not possible. HDMI cable offers transfer better video/audio signals to your TV and you can watch movies in best quality.

  For sound 5.1, you need port optical audio output, and according to the specifications of the laptop, this port is not available.

  I place the video on HDMI output using * Fn + F5 *-I get a perfect image on my HD TV. However, the sound always comes from my laptop speakers.
  I have all the latest drivers and BIOS downloaded from the Toshiba site.

  The error is caused by the order of the pre-installed Intel display driver installation.
  The problem could be fixed by reinstalling the Intel Display Treibers V15.9.5.1502 or higher.

  I have a hp dv9000 with hdmi output.  I signed up for Netflix and connected the laptop hdmi cable to our TV.  Use of IE, I started a film and the video is very good.  The sound of the film is coming through the speakers of the laptop, but not the tv.

  Hello Bulverde,

  By default the Vista transmits no sound on HDMI output.  To change this to change the settings in the control panel.

  Note: This will turn off sound from speakers or normal audio output on the laptop.  To get that back, you will need to reverse this process.

  1. click on the button 'Start '.

  2. click on "Control Panel."

  3. 'Control Panel Home' click 'hardware and sound '.

  4. where it says "Sound" in green letters, there are three options below that are in blue, click on "manage Audio devices".

  5. This will bring up a window titled "Sound".

  6. on the tab 'Read' it has listed the sound options at your disposal. It should read "peripheral digital output (HDMI)" click on it.

  7. it should now check this option box.

  8. the sound should play through your HDMI connections to the TV.

  Unable to get multichannel sound on HDMI.

  I have Denon AVR 2807 receiver hooked up to HDMI output. Stereo works fine, however I can not multichannel sound when I play DVD movies. I tried different codecs (K-light, Vista codecs etc.) does not. Codecs generally see the 5.1 channel output, but the receiver input shows only stereo. When I check AC3 or DTS pass through options in codecs when I start to crack sound. Also, I found that in ATI HDMI Output setup, I still see only 2 speakers, so I can't change the number of speakers that I have.

  Previously, I had Windows XP on the same computer, multichannel sound on HDMI worked fine.

  Hardware configuration:

  I have the Asus M4A88TD - M Evo (AMD 880 g chipset) with built-in HD 4250 running Win 7 64 bit.

  I bypassed this problem by installing the drivers Realtek for the "ATI HDMI Audio Device. Realtek site:

  Try to close entirely the laptop by holding down the SHIFT key while click on Shutdown.

  When finished, start Notepad, let Windows load completely and then check again in reading - if you still don't see not and IDT and Intel HDMI exit entry in the list, right-click in an empty area of the playback window and put a check mark against the "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices".  If the output HDMI Intel shows now, but is disabled, try a right click on it and select on.
