  I was issued a laptop Elitebook 8560p for use with a 90 W HP Docking station at work.  When the laptop is plugged into the docking station, the port ' audio out ' of the docking station does not work.  The sound continues to come out of the computer laptop speakers, or, if I plug the headphones into the headphone for laptop, it comes out of the helmet.  Plug the headphones into the Docking Station does not all the sounds (either of the two audio ports - in or out).  When the laptop is plugged into the docking station, no additional reading device does appear in the audio menu - just an output HDMI AMD (disabled) and speakers (activated).

  The speakers/headphones on the laptop works fine, the problem is just that the docking station is in no way "replica" or the audio output support and it's as if the port of the enclosure of the dock just weren't there.  So, I could use my headset by plugging directly to the laptop, but this really seems to defeat the whole concept of a docking station.  All other ports (video, usb) seem to work on the docking station.

  I am running Windows 7, 64-bit.

  I reinstalled the sound driver (for laptop) so that the laptop was plugged into the dock.  That did the trick.

  I suggest you to see these steps and check your sound card in the hidden devices.

  a. click on start.

  b. type cmd in the box search and run this program as an administrator.

  c. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

  Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1

  d. type follows a command prompt and press on ENTRY:

  Start devmgmt.msc

  e. troubleshoot the devices and drivers in Device Manager.

  NOTE: click Show hidden devices on the view menu in Device Manager before you can see devices that are not connected to the computer.

  f. When you are finished troubleshooting, close Device Manager.

  g. Type exit at the command prompt.

  Note that when you close the command prompt window, window clears the devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1 variable that you set in step 2 and prevents the ghosts of devices is displayed when you click Show hidden devices.

  (c) Software Driver of Intel Chipset v9.1.1.1025 (22/12/2009). Seems to just install an update from the hard disk of 64-bit driver.

  NOTE: I have not installed the latest four updates for now, three of them are security updates have a publication Date: 09/02/2010. I decided to not install these due to a mistake of "Circular kernel context logger" that I already saw in the viewer of the event log, recorded by "Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing" event ID: 2 now, I'm not having this issue.

  NOTE: I also installed a driver in option, the ACPI ATK110 driver, which installs the following file--> C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ASACPI.sys - he has listed as the version of the file 1043.2.15.37 and dated 29/03/2005.   NOTE: Again, I didn't have never had any problem at all in Windows XP Pro 32 bit SP3 or Ubuntu 10.4 64 bit with these settings. These operating systems will run an intensive game if I want to, throughout the day.

  (9) BIOS: The value of Intel Speedstep "Disabled".

  (10) BIOS: C1E (Enhanced Halt State) value to "disabled".

  (11) BIOS: Set the Mode of the ACPI Power / Suspend 'S3' only '

  (12) BIOS: Set ACPI 2.0 Support to 'Active '.

  NOTE: On, off, on any settings/functions above not has not solved the problem. I have I have not tried all the single 'combination', but in any case, make no change with the mouse.

  (13) in Windows 7, I selected the Option to 'High Performance' and the value "USB selective suspend setting" to "Disabled" with updated BIOS options as shown in steps 9 to 12 above

  NOTE: With BIOS defined that way there is no setting "Processor Power Management" in the Options of food, other than the 'political cooling system' (active/passive).

  I left this game to 'Active '.

  Is this a problem?

  Can I have found the solution that worked for me. It is probably too early to tell, I'll need more time to be sure. But in case he solved the problem for me, I'll post what seems to have worked as suggested on a post, I came across from another forum. Consider a guy who tried many suggestions, maybe that's the answer. Heck, I had tried a few other things that I have said in my original post. But in any case, so far, my system and mouse seem to work very well on the desktop for the last hour and a half.   (1) uninstall the Windows Update KB977074 (January 2010 stability and reliability update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2).

  (2) reboot and leave your system for a couple / few minutes after the restart.

  (3) just in case... Restart again, and then reinstall the KB977074.

  (4) restart to complete the installation.

  Utility tape recorder for Windows XP [sndrec32.exe] works in Windows 7 64 bit?

  The reason I ask: under XP, I use sound recorder to audition small sound files for possible use as system sounds. No sense to launch a 'real' drive just to play a .wav of 2 seconds.

  I know I could use the control panel of sounds and Audio for this (on XP) devices. But it's so convenient to the tape recorder on the Office Park and then drag and drop dozens of files .wav on it.

  The sound recorder in Windows 7 utility seems to be on the recording of the sounds, not to play them.

  XMPlay is a great and very light .wav player. It starts almost instantly. XMPlay is now my default .wav player replacing Sound Recorder (sndrec32.exe) in earlier versions of Windows. (XMPlay plays too, other formats, including video.)
