No sound on my Satellite L20-217

I don't have sound in my Satellite and L20 and can not find the drivers for my model.
What should I do?

Are there drivers from any other model that will be ft to mine?

Satellite L20 is pretty old machine and if I remember well, it was delivered with Windows XP Home edition at home.

The question is: what operating system are you currently using?
Problem is that this old piece of hardware is not supported for newer operating systems.

I ve bought a new power supply and the s is still running is not on. I ve took out the battery for 2 minutes etc... and still nothing; West not sound and no lights.
When the battery is in and the adapter is hollow area I still get nothing, but if I press the power button the left hand LED will blink for a few seconds then nothing again.
I really need to get this working as I´am a tattooist and piercer hairdresser and there all my drawings etc. on it.

You can start your laptop with AC power only (the battery is removed)? If so, start windows and after a few minutes, put the battery inside and post the result.

  • Satellite L20-217: product Recovery CD/DVD (reinstall Windows XP)

    Hello world

I have a Satellite L20-217 (aka PSL2XE) who is now more than three years. It's been a good camera but needs a clean reinstall of Windows XP to improve performance and stability, or possibly install a new larger hard drive. My problem is that I don't have a product recovery CD or DVD - it is be lost or has not submitted by the dealer who has also installed additional software purchase.

Plan A: I checked the backup disk Toshiba Europe site command to such https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/serial.aspx as suggested by other people in this forum online. Unfortunately my model (or particular unit) is not supported. When I enter my serial number, it gives me the message "device no way recovery can be ordered, because it's not about Toshiba Europe region, or it is too old for this service."

Plan b: I could use a different Windows XP CD to install the base operating system and to cope with the necessary drivers. I created a backup of the drivers and utilities of L20 CD, but do not have access to a vanilla Windows XP Edition family installation disc. (I tried the recovery CD for my Satellite A70 which is not recognized by the L20 at all and an XP Pro the installation CD for my other machines, but of course, the license key is not fair - the L70 is license for XP Home no Pro.)

Plan C: the L20 is still operational. Is it somehow possible to create a disc of recovery of this machine itself? I couldn't find a utility to do it on the hard drive. Some Toshiba machines are supposed to support a recovery, insider mode by holding down the button "0" when the power, but not this unit.

    The questions are:
    (1) is it possible to create a disc of recovery of this machine itself somehow?
    (2) is there another way to contact Toshiba Europe to order a CD or a DVD? (As I live in the Canada after buying L20 in Gibraltar while she lived in Europe, the cost + shipping is likely to be more that the computer is worth worth)
    (3) as a last resort, that I must try to find a bootleg XP Media CD somewhere?
    (4) other solutions?

    Thanks in advance!

    >) it is possible to create a disc of recovery of this machine itself somehow?
No! You cannot create own recovery on this laptop drive because this option was not mentioned on this model. New laptop models which are not delivered with the recovery only supports disk a possibility to create a recovery disk.

(> 2) y at - it another way to contact Toshiba Europe to order a CD or a DVD? (As I live in the Canada after buying L20 in Gibraltar while she lived in Europe, the cost + shipping is likely to be more that the computer is worth worth)
Usually, you can order the CD from recovery of the ASP from Toshiba, but I'm not sure if the European ASP will send to the Canada. In addition, it would be possible that the recovery for this laptop disk is no longer available.
However, maybe you should contact the ASP (using European countries) in order to get more details.

(> 3) as a last resort, that I must try to find a bootleg XP Media CD somewhere?
Well, the last option would be an original Win XP disc with the right key of BONE.
After Installing Win XP boot, you can download the Win XP drivers from the Toshiba page.

    (> 4) alternatives?
I doubt, there are other solutions, either you will install the operating system using the disk Toshiba or Microsoft

  • Upgrading RAM on satellite L20-217

    Hi guys,.

I have a satellite L20-217 and I'm looking to upgrade my ram 256 to 2 GB (or at least 1 GB). I did some research but I am still confused about this module (s) to buy and how to install it. I'm new on this and I will be very grateful if anyone can advise me on what to do, thank you.

PS: Is it possible to switch from a celeron M to a dual core processor?

    Hello

    Man of good news:

The L20 can be upgraded up to 2 GB!
    Please visit this page;
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=31173&ft=m&St=3

    You simply DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM bars!

Module slots are placed at the bottom of the unit.
There must be only one screw removed and you will see two slots!

The replacement is not very delicate and must be described in the manual very well!

With regard to the replacement of the CPU:

The replacement of the CPU is very delicate and particularly is not possible for different reasons!

  • Satellite L20 - 101 - Sound driver causes blue screen

    1. my laptop is a Satellite L20-101. It worked fine until yesterday when I reinstalled the system (from recovery cd) after 3 years. I have updated the bios to version 1.70 (drawn from the toshiba site). Devices audio conexant could not be recognized, and if I run the installation of the latest audio drivers (sound-20080604145033), it fixes the problem, but when you restart the system and login as administrator I get a blue screen. Any help pls?

    2. given that the LAN card is working, there is a message for the installation of a driver for a network device!

    3. when the system starts up, I get an error 0 x 57 for toshiba power saver. Even when I reinstalled ver 7.03.02.I from toshiba Web site the problem remains.

    Thanks in advance
    Maxco

    Hi maxco,.

About its pilot I n don't know why you're getting a blue screen with the latest version, but I advise to use the preinstalled version of Toshiba recovery disc. So try a point-to-point previous system restore.

Driver LAN and Toshiba Power Saver, you can download from the official site. Relocation of these tools should work!

  • Satellite L20-101 - very low sound

    Hello

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite L20-101, Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Yesterday, the sound of my laptop started to play very very low.

Drivers audio (conexant AC-link audio) seems to work fine, and I'm all set to maximum volume.
It was sudden. One moment he was working well, and the next time I start it the sound was strangely low.

I don't know if it's a hardware problem, or if she could we have resolved to restore the entire system with the recovery CD (I prefer not to do so).

    Any ideas? Any help?

    Thank you

    Hello

I think you should check the sound volume using the headphones.
If the headphones work correctly the problem might be related to internal speakers.

But to be honest it is really not easy to say what causes this problem as I said can be faulty speaker but you should also check all possible settings and perhaps a new OS reinstall would also be a good idea.

It would be useful to know if the sound issue would persist using the laptop with clean, factory setting.

  • Satellite L20: Problem reading DVD - not synchronic sound and image

Hi, I have a toshiba satellite L20 1.4 GHz CPU, 512 MB of ram which is only 4 months old. The problem I have is that when I try to play a DVD the image is nervous and the sound is still slower than the picture and can't seem to catch up with her. I have updated all drivers that needed updating, tried to change the video settings and tried different DVD software but it makes no difference.

I've only tried the DVD a few weeks ago so I think it was always like that, it seems to play CD OK, although he struggles a little bit a few times when you start playback of the disc if I move the cursor.
Does anyone know if this can be cured or I have to send again.

    Hello

This problem appears on the original DVD's?
I know that a similar problem could occur with some movie files or ripped DVD s.
In this case the software that was used for the DVD copy was responsible for these issues. Sometimes after installing some codex, the problem has been resolved.

I heard that this show on the Windows Media Center Edition has been resolved by updating the MPEG Encodeder.
    Try to update this application.

  • Satellite L20 - power of habit

    Hello

I have a Satellite L20. It had not been used for a while and the battery was completely dead. I plugged the sound off the L20 to my amp via amini taken for stereo connector. When I turned on the laptop started upward, but there was a bad sound interference from the amp. He stayed down for about 30 seconds, and then the laptop turns off completely. Since then I could not start it. When I plug in the power adapter no power light on the L20. However, the adapter has been tested and it is quite good.

I think that may be the motherboard was fried somehow, because, even if the battery is completely dead, should not the laptop always power up via the adapter?

Is there anyway that the motherboard can be "reset" or something?

    Thanks for any help,

    Dave

Ugh, that sounds like another machine was ascended to heaven...

Usually the machine must turn on even when no battey was inserted. So, if your light powerlights don´t after connecting your power adapter that should work (as you said, but I'm skeptical), then your motherboard is faulty.

You can try another adapter or another poweroutlet in your home. Maybe just a problem simple it s.

    Welcome them

  • Massage "cannot Access Volume Control!" on my Satellite L20

I have this strange problem on my laptop Satellite L20-100 with Windows XP Pro pre-installed.
When I turned on the laptop this morning I got this massage WARNIG: "Can t Access Volume Control!", then I noticed that the (Windows) Volume control icon does not appear in the system tray of taskbar.

Generally, the sound works under Windows. When I go to control panel-> sounds and devices Audio-> Volume V is marked near the "place volume icon taskbar", I tried to deselect and score again. It still does not appear, if I can change the volume here (Panel-> Sound) and Audio-> Volume devices and it works, but when I try to change it with Fn + up/down the whole bar is red because he does not see the sound card or something.

I tried to reinstall the audio driver, nothing happens.
This actually happened before, the first time that reinstalling Windows helped, I think.
Anyone have any idea what should I do? Thanks in advance...

If this problem occurred suddenly have you tried to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool?

  • Satellite L20 - Shoud I pay for the service?

My Satellite L20 have problems with playback and the recording of the CD ad DVD. Second problem is with the sound which is very low. In the service I was told so on my computer is not any noise problem witch I should pay for the diagnosis. Computer is of course the warranty.

Is it OK? What should I do?

    Hi Rafal,

As far as I know that the Toshiba warranty covers the cost of parts and labor to repair your laptop. It does not cover the cost of fixing software problems and it does not cover the cost of disassembly and reassembly where there is no fault found. It will be at the discretion of the repairer as to whether they bill you for all this work of investigation.

I suggest you ask them in advance what costs are likely to be.

    Kind regards

  • The volume is too low on my Satellite L20

First of all sorry for my bad English...

I just bought a Satellite L20 and I am very disappointed by the volume of the speakers... I read several other post with people complaining of the same issue.
It is almost impossible to watch a movie being able to catch all the words! The problem remains when you connect earphones.
I already checked that al volumes are at the maximum level (Control Panel, hardware, player windows media, powerdvd etc.).
I am very angry with this as I often watch movies and listen to music, but the volume is really low...
    Is there something to do?

    [Edited by: admin]

    Hi arch

My colleague has Satellite Pro L20 (same as Satellite L20). I saw this camera and the sound quality is not the best. I agree with you that the sound is not loud, especially in writing, because the hands cover the speakers.

If you check other notebook series speakers are, as a rule, placed close to the screen. In my opinion, it is much better solution. In any case the Satellite L20 is unit low budget and the focus was not multimedia surgraves just. So that the camera is very good and the price is right.

Personally, I want to have the multimedia unit, but these units are much more expensive. Unfortunately, you have to live with it. In any case, I hope that you will reach all day on your device and there is no other serious problems.

    Good luck!
