No sound on pavilion g7

I've had this laptop since last Monday.  It worked fine for the first two days, but since there is not sound, either through speakers or headphones.  Is there a diagnostic tool to identify what is needed, or a link to reinstall the software?  Thank you, Russ Skinner

Hi Russ_Skinner,

Try this link to document itsnumber of speakers. It's a good start to solve the problems of sound for all portable Windows 7.

Hope it's useful.

  • PC Pavilion laptop: no sound on Pavilion g6 after installing the new battery CMOS

I have a Pavilion g6z - 1 d 00 CTO Notebook PC, model A2F43AV number.  It came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and I upgraded the operating system to Windows 7 Pro (64 bit).

The problem is that I did not sound, either through headphones or the speakers even if the Volume is set at 55. I first noticed the audio problem after replacing the CMOS battery, as the laptop is 4 years old and he gave me intermittent wireless connectivity problems.  After installing the new battery CMOS, I noticed the wireless driver was missing and downloaded/installed.  Everything was fine except the audio.  Then I reset the BIOS but nothing there as the BIOS version is v.49, and it is the most recent.

I have also downloaded/installed the driver audio and rebooted the PC.  Still, there is no noise.

Finally, I have checked the audio drivers and the reporting system they work without any problem.

    What should I do next?

    Thanks, Terry

    Thanks for the reply,

I was under the impression that these links would take you to guide step by step, however, it seems that they do not work,

However, I have provided details below:

To perform a hard reset on a computer equipped with a removable battery, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Remove the computer from the docking station or port replicator.

    3. Disconnect all external devices from devices such as USB, external displays storage devices and printers.

    4. Disconnect the power adapter from the computer.

    5. Remove the battery from the compartment to batteries.

    6. Press and hold button power for about 15 seconds, remove any residual electric charge capacitors that protect memory.

    7. Insert the battery and plug the power adapter into the laptop, but do not connect peripheral devices.

    8. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

    9. If a boot menu appears, use the arrow keys to select start Windows normally and then press the Enter key.

    10. After you have reconnected each peripheral device, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.

To perform a hard reset on a computer equipped with a sealed or non-removable battery, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Remove the computer from the docking station or port replicator.

    3. Disconnect all external devices from devices such as USB, external displays storage devices and printers.

    4. Disconnect the power adapter from the computer.

  • No internal speaker sound on Pavilion dv7

Since this morning I have no sound from the internal speakers of HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook. Connect headphones and speakers, both internal and external and headphones. Check all the settings and the Device Manager - o.k. all running Windows 7.

    Hello

First, try a Hard Reset as follows.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery, connect the power adapter and start Notepad.

If the problem persists, try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp52501-53000/sp52658.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box to enable this and then proceed to uninstall.

When finished, restart the computer and let Windows load completely.  Open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  Left click 'Speakers and headphones' once, highlight it, and then click the Set Default button - has this made a difference?

  • Crackling sounds on Pavilion x 360: implementation number of processors as '4'

I have this problem and have tried to follow the advice to set the process to '4', but the drop-down list only has the option to "1" or 2 ".  '2' parameter does not resolve the issue.  I use a x 360 11 "Pavillion I had only a few months, and it is impossible to watch/listen to anything online because of the crackling.  Very upset, especially because I chose the audio because ofht 'beats' model that was supposed to give me a quality sound.

  • No sound on Pavilion 500-118

Set up a HP Pavilion 500-118, for which I had updated the OS to Win 8.1 late yesterday. I went on HP and NVIDIA sites to make sure I had the latest drivers installed (IDT, NVIDIA). Connected to the monitor (HDMI) on the video card (GEForce GT 635) HDMI port, still no sound. Do I need to have an external speaker for audio playback?

    Hello:

You should not need a set of external speakers if your monitor has built-in speakers.

If it isn't then Yes, you will need to connect speakers to it somehow.

I would use a DVI cable to connect the monitor if it is not from the built-in speakers and connect a pair of speakers to the audio Jack on the back of your PC.

Normally, you use an HDMI cable to connect the PC to a TV.

It's almost certainly a hardware problem, so if your laptop is still under warranty, you must contact HP and arrange for the repaired laptop.

  • Help to new primary hard drive sounds: HP Pavilion 6620f PC

I'm a non-technical guy who just replaced the main OEM 1 TB drive with a VelociRaptor 300 GB 10000 RPM hard drive. The installation went well, thanks to the fantastic instructions of the manual of HP and it works fine. Hard Disk Sentinel (free version) tells me that his condition is "perfect."

    Here's my question:

    • the new drive is intermittent but constant and subtle sounds and I don't remember hear them before.
    • Is there a problem or is it only a function of another type of hard drive?

For any help or suggestion accepted with gratitude! I hope that I worry about anything, but do not have the technical expertise or experience to know!

    Thank you

    Linda

    Hi Linda,.

Hard disks have different acoustic characteristics according to the manufacturers (and in overall models from the same manufacturer).  In addition, you went with a 1 TB of HARD drive that probably have a rotational speed of 5400 RPM on a faster drive.  If you are hearing just weak 'rattling', I think it's perfectly normal and given the utility disk HARD sees no problem with the drive, I would say that everything is fine.

  • QuickLaunch sound disorders Pavilion DV7

Hi I have a pavillion DV7 and recently the quick launch for its (the speaker) has turned orange and will not turn back when I touch it. The sound up and down keys as well as the smart media, play/pause, forward, rewind, stop and wireless buttons all work, but not the main audio.

Edit2: It now appears that the headphones work still reinforcing the idea my speakers can be broken, can someone confirm this somehow? In addition, the quick speaker button still works to turn on/off but she always orange rest, perhaps as an indicator for something the sound?

    The model is dv7-1450us

Found the right IDT drivers from the HP site, this time it worked. Thank you very much!

You did buy more, and a faster memory that your computer HP support (see specifications), but this probably isn't what is causing your computer to run slowly.

When the CPU usage goes to 100%, what is the task that does this (look in the Task Manager > processes)?

When you used the "Setup disk" that you had created, restore your computer to the State wherever it was when you first bought it?

    • If so, the computer run faster for any period of time before slowing down again?
    • If so, did you uninstall all the trial software that had been installed at the plant, including in particular any Norton, McAfee or other tests of security software?

Other Norton product, have you any other security software (antivirus, antimalware, firewall, etc.) that works all the time (that is, do not count a scanner that only runs when you start specifically)?

You can consider (temporarily) disconnected the computer from the Internet and completely uninstall Norton (operating instructions and there removal tool--> https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?lg=english&ct=united+states&docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home), then see if your performance is improved.
