No sound through speakers when using Skype
I have Windows Vista 64-bit operating system. The following situation began around mid-April. Although all the sound settings are correct and healthy records on his Equalizer lit bar, there is no sound coming through the speakers. With some parameters, the sound test are almost like a gentle whisper. I bought a Skype number. I need to be able to hear the ring come through the speaker when a call comes in.
My headphones (with microphone) works very well. However, I can't wear my helmet all day just in case someone decides to call me. HELP PLEASE!

I have a PC laptop HP Envy Touchsmart IS-j052nr, running Windows 8.1. When I use Skype, either through headphones or the speakers, I have problems from parasites. It sounds clear when I speak and when the person at the other end is speaking, but if the person on the other end does not speak for several minutes, then the static method noise becomes stronger and stronger (like a huge storm of rain falling at the hearing) until the other person makes a new sound. The other person can also hear static.
Is there a new driver, I can download to fix this problem? When I scanned my computer on the support site there is no audio driver I was missing.
Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I understand when you use Skype on your HP Envy Touchsmart j052nr IS running Windows 8.1 you hear static, whether you use headphones or speakers. Now you don't hear static noises when using Skype, or when using headphones or require sound from speakers?
After some research on the Skype Support Forums, I've seen a few recommendations that I would like you to try to see if that reduces / removes this annoying static noise. Please follow the steps listed below:
1 sign in to Skype
2. go in Tooks > Options > General > Audio settings
3 uncheck automatically adjust to the title of chapters of Microphone and speakers
4. adjust the volume to your liking
5 save and restart Skype
If you are still having static noise, I wish that you continue here: Skype Audio issues troubleshooting
Please reply back with the information requested, if the static noises are still there and it is only when you are using Skype, I recommend to go to the Page of Support of Skype as they would be able to help you.
I'll watch for your reply.
When you use Skype I am able to listen to the other appellant, but they cannot hear me. I have two speakers and one is Logitech quick cam when using Skype.
Please let me know what I need to do to solve the problem, thank you

Just bought a laptop G-60-549DX. His mic is BAD. Voice of cuts to when using Skype. Help!
I was able to solve the problem with the microphone on the G60-549DX when using Skype. I spend up to 6-8 hours, talk with convenience stores of HP. They were very friendly and helpful. The same help a friend. My friend downloaded updated bios and micro drivers. HP technician asked me to turn off the laptop, then remove the battery, unplug the power cord. With battery removed and stop, I pressed the market / off power button for a good minute evacuate remaining power into the computer. When I restarted the laptop I micro worked. I did a little more fine-tuning of the installation of the microphone. Now, it works well on Skype and sound recorder. I won't take this back within the 14 days return policy. It's a good computer I can say. The technicians were all very friendly and helpful. They called me several times to check to see if it still works OK! They are HUGE! They want to help with any other question, I have perhaps with the computer. Thank you very much for the help. Everyone was SO helpful.
DV7-6c90us w/Beats audio Entertainment PC. IDT High Definition Audio Codec. The drivers are "up to date". Device Manager indicates that this sound card does not work correctly. No sound through speakers. No sound of Blurays / DVDs. DVD reading slow and erratic. Sound will play with some videos, both on the hard drive and online. Sounds Windows play in the headphones. I did a scan of root of Avast Antivirus and PC Cillin Housecall. Not found any viruses.
Please, any help would be appreciated.
Download & save the last Audio driver. Go into the Control Panel, programs & features - software uninstall IDT. Reboot the laptop. After loading Windows, install IDT audio by using the downloaded file.
Why can I never get a good picture on my imac when using Skype?
I use the free Skype to talk to my friend in China every week. They always see me on their computer or phone clearly, but I can never get a good video of them, clues why? I see a good image of myself, but never of them. I can't adjust the settings of the built-in camera because they are fixed. Is this my router modem, which is 8 years old now. What is causing this problem. If you look on YouTube there are hundreds and thousands of good quality webcam videos then why am I having this eternal problem year after year? I've got El Capitan OSX
If they can see you clearly, the problem is not on your side - at least not in your Mac. Could be the router or you internet connection. Otherwise: https://support.skype.com/en/skype/mac/
Spoiler (Highlight to read)HelloHello
I recently bought a new headphones for the game but had some problems with it and the sound system. A major problem is when I have someone call on Skype, the Skype sound or the call will go through the headphones, but on the other audio from the speakers. I also agree that also what iTunes does not work when I am in a call as well. Some examples would be that if I want to watch a YouTube video during a call, noise would come by the speakers and not the headphones. However, I found a solution for this. All I had to do was turn off the main speakers and the audio was transmitted to the headphones. Another example would be that if I want to run the games through Steam (Garry Mod, TF2, ect.), I get no sound in the game. Not through my speakers or headphones. With one exception, volume of Garry Mod, I can hear through the speakers so that in a Skype call, but I want the sound to come through the headphones. But with TF2, I have no sound whatsoever. If you need more information about me, feel free to ask. Thank you.

4. under reading, you should see one or two speaker icons. One of them should have a green check mark next to it (which is the main speakers to your laptop). If the second speaker icon is not visible, right-click in the list of devices and select Show disabled devices
5. a second disabled icon "speakers" should appear. Right click on this icon, then click Activate
6. Select the device speaker newly enabled, right click and select "set as default device".
7. click on apply.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your response!
When you use Skype, my internal microphone does not work - friend says that he can not hear the voice, but he can hear other sounds - music on youtube for example. Ive tested the microphone on Skype Echo - it wasn't working at all. I tested it on a voice recorder - MIC was working properly. Also when I just started to use this laptop (3 days ago), I spoke with a friend through Skype for about 3 hours, and then he couldn't hear me suddenly annymore. If something is wrong with Skype. Computer consultant suggested me to contact Skype support technicians.
In Skype, open Tools-> Options-> Audio settings. There is more than one option available in the selection box for Microphone?
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software IDT, worked with the helmet on the internet basic sounds. Tried to set up the sound, but he will say that he was unable to play the sound, but gives the alert ping with the window to appear. When I go to iTunes and try to play a song or a movie, when I hit the play button it doesn't do anything (it is not still progress in the song as if the speakers were not on). When I click on the audio icon on the toolbar, it separates now between headset and loudspeaker sounds. I bought the computer it last June, so it is a few months old and I only play many sound through it if it does not make sense. Is there anything else I can do to fix this?
HP Pavilion dv7t - 6 c 00
Try the following.
Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.
One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers. Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.
When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds. Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.
Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu. Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER. Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.
Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete. Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation. Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices. 'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

Yesterday, I downloaded and installed Logic Pro. During the last part of the installation process my speakers started to whine. It is not very strong, but quite noticeable and irritating. I use these speakers (Alesis M1 Active 520) for years and have never had this problem.
When I restart, before launching logic, the speakers are silent - which means that there is no groan even when the speakers are turned at full volume. Logic Pro is launched as soon as the whining begins.
When I go in the preferences in the logic and change the parameters of the device, for example I pass the entrance 'none', the whine disappear momentarily while the changes are applied, then it returns a few seconds later. The only way I can get the groan to stop is to choose one output other than "USB Audio Codec" - which then of course I hear nothing of logic, except through the Mac Mini, built in speaker, other sounds play through speakers normally without any annoying groan.
Logic Pro to quit smoking will also stop the whine.
Reminder, my speakers will only commit the groan Logic Pro is running. The moan is noticeable when the speaker (speaker button) is set to a level higher than 30%. I normally set it to about 50-60%.
I just opened Garage Band and it has the same problem. Final Cut Pro X (and any other programs that I use) but do not.
Looks like you have found your comments from your Audio input... maybe the built in Mic?
That switch off in the preferences Audio Logic... by choosing a different input audio and see if that fixes it.
Unless I go to Tools>Options>Audio Settings>speakers>Communications helmet I will be able to hear Skype with ordinary headphones only. Unfortunately, all other sounds such as games and Youtube videos are through speakers.
My laptop is a HP Pavilion dm4 3055dx, I bought last year so it is still in good condition.
I tried to change the Settings Audio>speakers>speakers and headphones , but that has not worked. This problem occurs yesterday after Skype update.
Furthermore, I checked my laptop for updates, and everything is updated. I uninstalled and reinstalled Skype. The problem still occurs.
I made a mistake. Laughing out loud
Here's how I found the solution:
I right click on the audio icon in the taskbar next to my time. I went to "Playback devices" then I saw 'Speakers and headphones' and 'helmet of Communication '. I clicked on 'Speakers and headphones' then I clicked "Set as default". I left it like this:
Compaq presario cq60 notebook. Can I record my voice without problem, but I can't monitor levels to be either too loud or too soft. I've read dozens of forums and keep running in circles. My table of mixing does not even an option to do so. All devices are enabled and display. I have no line showing as many forums saying I should have under part recording of sounds. You are using windows vista. I want to say is 'I can't hear my voice through my speakers or headphones while I record. What I've read, it's a fairly common problem.
Open the troubleshooting of Audio recording (also applies to Windows Vista)
To adjust the record volume, follow these steps before you register:
1. click on Start, click on Control Panel.
2. click on hardware and sound.
3 under his, click Manage audio devices .
4. click on the recording tab.
5. click on the microphone device and then click Properties.
6. click on the tab levels move the slider to increase or decrease the volume.
If you find difficulties in following the above steps then you must follow the link below.
The volume of the audio recorded by sound recorder in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 is lower than that of Windows XP.
Hope this information is useful.
I recently bought a Satellite A660-15J. I am running Windows 7 64 bit.
I have the latest version of Skype (220.127.116.11).
The integrated Webcam does not work when you run Skype. If I run the Toshiba Web Camera Application the webcam works fine. However, when I test it in Skype, I get a message saying "cannot start video. Try quitting other programs that use the webcam '.
However, as far as I can tell there no other programs available. I have tried Skype with the Web Camera Application clised & open. I also confirmed that I do run the latest version of the program.
One of the main reasons we have this laptop is to use Skype video... Help, please.
Disable webcam application start-up and exit this application before you start Skype.
I used Skype many different models of laptops, including friends A660 and it worked correctly.
When you open Skype video settings is listed as default camera USB webcam?
My laptop stops when you use Skype shortyly after the launch of video call, there is a new problem in the past, everything was fine.
We have the laptop that runs daily every day could have questions related to heating.
It seems there is no error message in the event viewer.
When I turn on the computer it does not say she stop properly and it can run for hours, but as soon as you Skype even once turn off with warning message.
I ended up putting the nozzle of the vacuum on the computer while suction fan was off and sucked on a pile of dust that was clogging the fan, laptop is Purring like a kitten, heaters do not and do not turn off.
Thank you for your guidance and quick response.
